Carmelo was in my 'Top 100' favorite Blazers. After learning this tidbit, he's dropping off that list...

I wouldn't even put him in my top 10 of people with the name Anthony, who played for the team.

For those who asked (in no particular order)

Greg Anthony
Anthony Mason (sure he never played for the team but he was drafted by them).
Anthony Tolliver
Joel Przybilla (his middle name is Anthony)
Anthony Cook
Richie Frahm (middle name of Anthony)
Antonio Harvey (I'm counting him)
Tony Brown (assistant coach)
Antonio Daniels (see Antonio Harvey)
Mario Elie (middle of Antonio)
Tony Snell

Melo doesn't register on my radar. He was always good at getting selfish numbers that rarely help the team.

I was never a fan and didn't enjoy his time here.

He was right that if Dame wanted a title his best chance to get it was to leave. And he probably knew Dame well enough to know that above all else, Dame wanted a chance to win a title.

And he knew enough about Blazer Management to have an idea what their priorities were.

Good advice Melo.

Melo was fine, even though he always seemed a bit out-of-focus and fuzzy.

And his personal life is of no concern to me. If he told some dame to get the fuck out, well, we don't know the whole story.

when Portland got Carmelo, it was a happy story. A legendary player making 1 more run before his retirement. But how the Blazers used Anthony was a bit whacky. He should have been a 6th man scoring punch with limited minutes. Not full time starter powerhouse Carmelo. Those Mega-Melo days were not going to surface too often. It's like the Blazers dusted off the LaMarcus Aldridge All-Star playbook, and handed it to a semi-retired Carmelo Anthony. Putting old man Melo at full-time starting PF was a head scratcher.

Who did we have that was better?

I don’t know about unsuccessful. We won the first ever play-in, made playoffs and won game 1 both years. We haven’t made the playoffs since Melo left.

And if it was 3on3 tournament we could even won the whole thing with Dame, CJ, Melo and Stotts. It was fun basketball for those three and it was fun to watch sometimes, but winning 1 playoff game isn't really nothing to be proud of.

unsuccessful was the wrong description... How about "less then optimal" ??

Now that is some fine work there. Great job!

Are you proud of the results of the past 3+ seasons?

I think it's awesome that Melo is going to be going in on the NBL. Definitely going to help this thread out in the long run, and since that is what's really important.....
Doesn’t Melo have a Lowey? A Melo jr that might play?
That could put a few more pages on this thread.
