The Trade Deadline

I'm wondering what San Antonio could be willing to offer for Simons. Maybe they'd prefer to take a PG in the draft, but I would think they'd want to surround Victor with talent and he would create a lot of open looks.

Over the past year+, Sexton's PER, TS%, AST%, WS are all superior. I think there are arguments in favor of either. They're certainly comparable.

Why are the stats different here... oh.... you went with last years stats. I don't consider that data to be useful because Simons was playing a different role on that team. The sample size is very small this year, but that's just how it is. Simons is playing a different role.

The only team that can afford that price is OKC. Adding Markkanen to that roster would be damn scary for the rest of the league.

We could do it. Do we want to?

We have the GSW pick, we have the Bucks pick, and we could conceivably get picks for Grant and Brogdon.

Are we getting fleeced here? More for Brogdon?

I think the Heat part is likely fair. Although Robinson has actually been playing really well for them, so even with his ugly contract, can see them being ok with it since he's a big help in spreading the floor.
I don't think Indy would pay that much, however for Grant. 2 picks seems like an ask already, more of what it'd take for us to move him, but not what they'd pay for him. But also, Hield is still a useful player, who they may be able to land a pick for if they wanted, which almost makes it 3 1sts for Grant.
Maybe they keep a 1st, and send Jovic to Utah so they get 3 1sts and a young player for Lauri.
I also think this pushes us into the LT, which seems very unlikely in a lotto year.

Yeah, but salaries matching is a real bitch for Indy. They don't have a lot of huge contracts to move. Plus there were all the rumors about Hield being out because they didn't want to give him an extension.

Still, it boils down to how motivated Utah is to move Markkanen. Are they hard stuck on 5 picks? I'm honestly reluctant to give up the GSW pick, but I'm not sure if there's anyone in this draft who is even remotely as good as Markkanen.

Yeah, I went to try to tweak it and the salary matching was a pretty big pain!

He is the one who hired Cronin as an intern. And the guy who fired him unceremoniously has been dead for 5 yrs.

Doubt the grudge still exists.
wonder if Indy would do Walker if Grant and Matisse were included, they'd trade Hield
In theory we could get there, but is Markkanen the dude we want to push chips in for?
It is not the time to go after a guy like Lauri, we are too far away and he will not bring us there

The player I think would be a solid fit from the pacers is Jalen smith. What would he cost? Can’t see Walker be available just yet, they spent a high draft choice on him and would imagine they would want to see what they have in him.

As much as I wouldn’t like it, I would add Thybulle in addition to Grant to secure Walker, and they can add a top 20 protected 1st or something to balance out the deal. Hield and other guys could be combined to be traded to a contender for a 1st as well I think.

Thybulle could say no.

Just reading around the trade rumor mills I've read a few articles that have said Grant is not available to be traded and that he's untouchable so I think folks should shelve that trade idea for a couple of years. I'm pretty sure Brogdan will get moved at this point even though I'd move Ant instead.

It some team wants Grant badly enough to make a generous offer, Joe would do it.

You would move Ant over Brogs -- are you HIGH -- I am being serious are you friggin High

Ant is playing like a stud and you want to trade him River -- Friendly reminder Posting while High and /or Drunk is not smart --- cause it has to be that reason --- LOL

Link about Jerami being untouchable? Because that seems highly unlikely.

Even if Cronin on camera said Grant was untouchable I wouldn't buy it, that's GM speak for offer me more.

Cronin said for 2 years we're aggressively building a team around Dame to win now and people are suddenly shocked when in June/July he wasn't....

GMs and NBA front offices don't clearly tell you what their doing. It's all half truths, poker faces, and misdirection. You can read a lot into their actions and transactions, which matter way more than words. The actions spoke that we were building to a Dame trade for awhile, which ultimately happened.

This would be my ideal deadline. It could be broken up into up to three/four different trades (Us and Indy. Us, Toronto and Miami. Us and Brooklyn [would technically be two trades]) so you wouldn't have to get all five teams on the same page at the same time.

How do the Nets pull this off?
I don't see them trading anyone. You really think they will go that far into the tax, AND give assets? I think they'd like Hield for Oneil + 2nd.

This is just atrocious on so many levels.
Raptors / Ant trade -> Toronto would not do that, & I wouldn't sell Ant for anything less than that.

Heat trade -> I guess that is reasonable, but I doubt you get picks with the Lowry/Brogdon swap (Young/Porter have negligible value - maybe a second)

Nets -> Again Heild for Oneil + 2nd is reasonable, but they aren't going into the tax and giving up a first for Thybulle (nor would I want to trade him).

Pacers -> I really like the idea of Grant -> Heild + Walker. It's probably too optimistic for the Blazers though.

I think people expecting Grant to be traded might be disappointed on Feb. 9. Brogdon might not be traded either although that seems probable

Agreed. Can see us making moves or doing absolutely nothing. Still not sure why we picked up Wainwright though. Might have just been doing Phoenix a solid and keeping him for trade purposes. Do not expect him to be on the team post trade deadline.

I have yet to see any rumors of interest in any POR assets.

We would be rebuilding for another 6-8 years.

All you tools who want to trade Ant -- it just shows you know jack shit -- Btw just cause it's the holiday season does not mean I am going to be nice when I see stupid shit like Ant trades going to call you out on it.
