Speaking at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, Jack Ma, the billionaire founder of Alibaba — the Chinese company that surpassed Wal-Mart as the world’s largest retailer in 2016 — said the United States has no one but itself to blame for its economic woes, and that much of the problem is rooted in wasteful spending on warfare.

CNBC’s Andrew Ross Sorkin had asked Ma about his thoughts on the American economy and how it relates to China. Incoming President Donald Trump’s stance has consistently been anti-China — the former reality TV star has long accused the Asian superpower of siphoning U.S. jobs — and he and the trade team he’s putting together appear eager and willing to impose tariffs on Chinese goods.

“It’s not that other countries steal jobs from you guys. It’s your strategy. Distribute the money and things in a proper way,” Ma said, adding, “You’re supposed to spend money on your own people.”

On the issue of military spending, the Chinese billionaire claimed the U.S. has wasted over $14 trillion on warfare over the past three decades — money that, again, could’ve been invested in domestic infrastructure and programs for the American populace.

On Wednesday, as Anti-Media reported, Chinese President Xi Jinping gave a historic speech at the World Economic Forum in Davos in which he praised globalism and made a case for China as the world’s new economic leader.

Speaking of globalization, Ma called it a “perfect” strategy, and pointed out that U.S. corporations have profited substantially from the system:

In welcoming China’s president to the stage at Davos on Wednesday, WEF founder and chairman Klaus Schwab stated, “In a world marked by great uncertainty and volatility the world is looking to China.”

Alibaba’s Jack Ma, in speaking to CNBC, seemed to echo this sentiment — that’s it’s China and the system of economic globalization that will blaze the path into the future:

Hey, we've set up really nice socialized medicine for both Afghanistan and Iraq. And some really nice infrastructure, new freeways, dams, waste management, clean water. There is just not enough money to do that for us.

And besides, that's up to the states to figure it out and pay for that shit.

Corporations need 3rd world countries to exploit, err, invest in... there's no corporate interest in doing that for the US until we're 3rd world again... so they tell the US to war elsewhere while the US crumbles to dust.

It's not a waste if you have lots of really cool explosions to watch. You saying our government doesn't get to celebrate the 4th of July their way?!?

And look, if we didn't spend trillions on warfare, who would?

Nobody, that's who. And that would just be heartbreaking.

Am i supposed to be for spending trillions bombing brown people? Cuz I ain't.

Well it beats the other way around. I was just little fella the first time I got the clue. I have to this day a hunk jagged brass from a shell fired by I-25. A crappy night.

We're already $14T invested--we gotta follow this through til it starts to pay off, otherwise that $14T was all for nothing. I think warfare is on the verge of breaking through and doubling our investment.

Well it beats the other way around.

I hear from certain people around here that deficits and a large national debt are the worst things that can happen to a society. If you want those brown people civilizations to lose, maybe you should be rooting for them to spend trillions bombing us and running up their own debt.

I believe that theory has been abandoned. More recently academic researchers have determined that trans people getting healthcare and using bathrooms are the primary threats to civilization.

I'm pretty cheap when it comes to certain things. A few nukes seems a lot cheaper in the long run.

Get it over quickly and be done with it. But, only a few would profit from that so they drag it out.

They would be begging for help if they wasted so much money. Good idea

Surely there must be a way to make a good profit on dropping nukes on people!

I'm sure some asshole would find a way.

I accept the challenge.

Step 1: Have them cheaply made in China
Step 2: Brand them "Trump Nukes"
Step 3: Line up fools in red hats, take their money for participation in the Trump Nuke Experience
Step 4: Nuke them

I think the $14T is FAR overstated.

It's disgusting we still stick our noses in wars we shouldn't and cause them when unessecary. "Weapons of mass destruction"

More like a shit load of opiates and oil for us to control while dealing weapons to terrorists

Well, the money went from the government to other people and corporations. It didn't just vanish into thin air (well, except the money that vanished into thin air).

So no, we didn't waste it, we spent it. Like spending all your money on candy and then crying about not being able to afford a toothbrush.

This is probably the most important issue we face.....military escalation vs infrastructure spending.....problem is, the Hawks are in the white house now...arms dealers are going to make out like bandits......not only the cost of war, but the waste of equipment we just leave all over the planet. Never made sense to me...we don't need a wall....we need a decent border patrol and bigger Coast Guard....our soldiers and sailors should be spending their paychecks in the states, not overseas. The military could actually accomplish a lot if their work days were focused on fixing our nation at home instead of propping up dictators in countries that hate us anyway. Guards standing posts all around the globe could be posted on the borders of our own country instead of Korea or the middle east.

This is so good! Perhaps you should try to expand your reach.
Now is and excellent time to pull out of Korea, maybe Japan too, before those mean North Koreans do some serious shit. If we pull out and and mind our business, those meanies will become the nice people we all know the can be.

It might give the Russians and epiphany too. Perhaps Putin will send us a Reset button. The Democrats can fight over who gets to push it and grin for the media.

But Wow man! The cost savings are potentially huge. You bring every one home, and we don't need Aircraft Carriers. We can shut down those shipyards and save the cost of millions of jobs.
This is Yuge! You should rush this to the head Dem, now man.

We can all live the life, sip the good stuff, pick the strings and groove with the tune. The world will love us.

oh no...you don't get it Marz.....the Navy is important....just be nice if they docked in Coos Bay and spent their fun money instead of some port in Japan or Korea...We have a lot of coastline ...need boats...need bridges and power grids upgraded much more though...which would create...cough cough...jobs

the Navy is important

We have a Coast guard. Under your plan, why do you need a Navy? We have air strips up the whole coast and in the Islands. We save big man! Peaceful mega tolerant souls, happily living our days.

I'm already happy living our days...just thought a little extra sailor cash might be helpful to the good folks on the Oregon Coast....and yes..we have a Coast Guard AND a Navy! Even some rogue sea captains without commission!

And pirates, don't forget the pirates.

I'd like an efficient power grid and high speed rail system to visit my grandkids more than sabre rattling in Turkey and Korea
