When was this?
This whole post is full of shit.I'm sorry, Denny, but that is just literally incorrect. They DID negotiate a sale price, and the government was NOT the only potential buyer. The owner did not have to sell to the government. He chose to.
Sure, but (a) there aren't any, and (b) the government didn't do that.
It certainly is.
I don't see how it possibly could. I haven't seen his books, but I'd be very surprised if he wasn't hugely profitable, plus he just cashed out the building.

It seems to me that most Chilean Carm is left on the vine a bit long, over ripening it in my opinion and losing some of the varietal characteristics, especially all that bell green pepper. I love carm but it seems like most people don't. The school I go to actually makes a pretty good one. The wines from College Cellars are hit or miss because they are made by students. But we just won 14 medals at the recent San Francisco International Wine Competition. That sounds fun. I like the rarer varietals, or lesser-known. You don't see much of those varieties around, though Carmenere and Albarino generally seem a little more common than the other two. We used to drink a fair amount of an inexpensive Chilean Carmenere - I mean at least a bottle a week, but I cannot remember the winery at the moment. There was a vintage or two where I think Las Rocas had an interesting Carmenere, but the more recent stuff wasn't as interesting. I love a good Albarino, though. Abacela in Southern Oregon makes one I find pretty impressive. We import one from Spain that is the tits - I'll actually be visiting the producer in April.
And you didn't take a picture or video? I see something like that I'm taking a picture and letting them know I'm taking a picture. Sending it to the news, posting it on the city's facebook page. You do nothing?
Something similar happened to me when I went to Comcast, dip shits fucking around, not helping anyone, line stacking up. I started taking pictures. Manager starts freaking out. Calls some kid out from back to stop me from leaving. Says I have no permission to take her picture and that she wants my phone to delete it. I point to the security cameras on the wall and told her to delete my pictures first. I emailed her boss and got her demoted, she had been promoted to manager the week before.

This whole post is full of shit.
I wouldn't be surprised if the guy owed more than he got.
I wanted you to be sure I was referring to your post as being full of shit.It certainly is. Why did you post it?
That's only because you don't have a fucking clue what you are talking about.
If you'd ever visited the restaurant you'd know it was very successful.

You have no idea if they made much money or what they owe.
Actually, I do have an idea, because I've been there often, and unlike you, I can figure out that if someone bought a building in downtown Portland 45 years ago, it's worth one hell of a lot more now than when it was purchased.
But you go on and keep digging that hole you are digging. It's already big enough to serve as the basement for the new courthouse.
barfo
You called me clueless. LOL.45 years. How much do you think he could still owe on a 45 year old mortgage? What do you suppose the price of the building/land was back then, and what do you suppose it is now?
barfo
You called me clueless. LOL.
His mortgage could be one year old.
It would be silly to leave a lot of equity tied up in the property. He might have more than one mortgage, too.
The place could be worth $100M. If he owes $80M and the government offered $70M, he has to come up with the difference. The price then/now is irrelevant.
Did you hear the one about the company that sold widgets for $2 that cost them $3 to make. Sales were huge, because those are a good deal. "They must be profitable," says barfo.
Look, the owner didn't say he's moving to another location. He's still going to have loyal patrons, witness those who say they like ke the food and will miss the place.
He didn't stay open because this $250M monstrosity is going to dwarf the place and ruin the ambiance, wreck traffic patterns and parking, etc.
If the profits were so good, he'd stay or move the business. Or sell it to someone because the name, recipes, goodwill, processes, etc., mean profit.
The creepy mayor was forced to resign after several women complained about inappropriate behavior.
I'm sure barfo liked the creepy democrat, and Anthony Weiner.
So you got fucked by the gubment and didn't do anything about it.
You sure you ain't a democrat?
