Once Pop gets his hooks in him....I fear he'll be a Spur...that's how Pop keeps Kawhi around as well. Kawhi will stay to play with Lebron....surprise me and come to Portland but he'd have to leave a ton of money on the table and Pop seems to have a knack for getting players to cut salary to win

It'll be Houston if they can find a way to make it happen either finding a way to unload salary to sign him or try and sign and trade. But I'm not convinced they can make it happen. Pops wanting to meet with Lebron is interesting and could happen. Ultimately, I think he stays in the East and either remains with the Cavs, go to Philly or maybe the Celtics (kinda doubt that one, though).

Hard to say where James goes. There are several factors. He has talked a out how his kids would play into his decision. He is weary about moving them again and changing their schools...losing friends. He is all about being a good dad, the best he can be as his dad wasn't around. There is a good chance he stays in Cleveland.

He isn't hurting for money. But, he probably has a chip on his shoulder about the Warriors. If he leaves Cleveland I don't think it will be to go the warriors. Another factor is there aren't many teams with space. He'd have to go as a sign and trade or take a small contract.

Between the Sixers, Spurs, and Rockets, Houston would be the easiest for a ring. Though CP3 isn't willing to take a paycut, plus Capella is due a payday. So, Lebron probably won't go there. Philly would be the best choice, a very deep team there. The Spurs are in it definately. Bron has mad respect for Pop.

I hope he comes to Portland, but if I had to guess, he will stay in Cleveland.

I think he stays in Cleveland. I bet Cleveland would also love to trade the 8th pick and Love for CJ. Not only is he an ideal fit next to Lebron, he can also be a building block with Ohio ties in case Lebron bounces. I also bet Neil would turn that offer down immediately.

But back to Lebron, I just don’t see a fit for him anywhere else. Everyone says Houston but that would require them dumping Anderson. As we saw last summer, nobody wants that shit. They couldn’t even get rid of him if they attached a pick.

LA isn’t ready to contend.

Philly? Lebron is Lebron so he makes everyone better but it’s still a bad fit with Simmons.

Back to Miami? That might work. They could probably dump Whiteside.

San Antonio? They’d have to dump Lamarcus on a third team without taking salary back. Good luck with that.

Portland really would be a great fit because he’d play with Lillard and we have an asset that Cleveland would want. If we lost CJ we could use the TPE or MLE to pick up a starting SG that isn’t ball dominant; someone like Lee or Ellington. Too bad lebron probably wouldn’t even consider it.

Actually if we got Lebron someone like Tyreke Evans or even Will Barton could take a pay cut and sign for the tax MLE to replace McCollum.

God I wish that motherfucker would just give Portland a chance.

Dame
Evans
Harkless
Lebron
Nurkic

TPE for Lee.

Then we can fill the wing depth with vet minimum ring chasers. Vince Carter for example. Maybe even Dwayne Wade, who I know is a big time Lillard fan.

It would be nice if a mega star would consider a team deprived of a championship for years or has no championship to there name even if he has no roots to that city. But that isn't how the NBA works. All about just going to a big market city or joining up with a stacked team now and days. NBA is as fucked a sport as it comes.

Let me get even crazier tonight.

Moe, Aminu, and a future first to Cleveland for Lebron. in an opt in/trade scenario Cleveland isn’t going to get equal value anyway. We just need to give them pieces they’d value over salary relief. Harkless would qualify. Aminu is an expiring, and still a solid player in his own right. I believe Cleveland would retain his bird rights if they wanted him back.

Then we attach our current pick to Meyers and send him to Dallas or Chicago. Send it through Cleveland if need be.

Would this technically be possible? I don’t care if it’s realistic or not, it’s dream day.

Philly has a lot of talent.
Philly is in the East.
Philly is 400 miles (1.5 hour flight) from Akron.
Philly is one of few with cap space.
LeBron wants to get paid, and he'd get it in Philly.

Lebron comes here (I know it'd never happen):

POR OUT: McCollum, Turner, Leonard, Collins (all to Cleveland)
POR IN: Lebron, Carmelo
OKC out: Carmelo, Singler
OKC in: Love, JR Smith (basically they just go after shooting and get Carmelo outta there)
CLE out: Lebron, Love, JR (full purge of Lebron era)
CLE in: CJ, Turner, Leonard, Singler, Collins

Lillard/Harkless/Lebron/Carmelo/Nurkic
Baldwin/Connaughton/Aminu/Davis

What’s eating at me is if the Blazers were based in LA, Chicago, or NY, they’d probably be front runners for Lebron. When you factor in the ability to make the money work, organizational stability + purely basketball, they might be at, or near the top of the list. Pisses me off.

I just tell myself if there was a player that wouldn't be hurt "financially/marketing wise" by coming to Portland it'd be Lebron. He turned Cleveland into a destination haha. But he's probably ready for the big lights of LA after being in Cleveland for a couple of years.

Philly, LAL or Houston.

I think he stays east because it's easier to get to the finals, sans maybe Houston

Yes, it would. Might have to add more salary (Swanigan & Layman).

LA. Big market, tons of marketing opportunities, he already has a home there and the ability with the Lakers cap to bring in a Paul George. And if for some reason he was willing to take less to go to another cap-strapped team, why wouldn't he do that in LA an have the Lakers be able to sign even more players.

Hope I'm dead wrong. Then again, him going to Houston makes for another boring, inevitable season of the NBA Finals being the WCF between the Warriors and the Rockets.

Non basketball advantages Portland has:

1. Stability in the front office. This would appeal to him after what he’s been through in Cleveland.

2. Relationship with Olshey. They’ve known each other since Lebron was in high school. Was one of the reasons the Clippers got a meeting with him the summer he went to Miami. Clippers were relative nobodies back then.

3. Wouldn’t have to sell him on Oregon since he already spends a lot of time there because of Nike. He’s talked positively about Oregon in the past, and has mentioned a comfort level playing there in front of his Nike family. Has put up some of his better splits in Portland.

LeBron on a team where he doesn't have to be so ball dominant, and can just go with the flow, would be amazing.

OK, more amazing.

It’s official, looks like he is joining my Lakers!

He's going to the Lakers. He needs to get a start on his acting career.

The best thing about him changing teams is that we will not have to hear about Cleveland basketball ad nauseum anymore.

I really don’t know where he is going. Decision part 2 will be fun.

“And this summer I will be taking my talents to the very moist Pacific Northwest and joining the Seattle SuperSonics.”

Portland or San Antonio. I think LeBron is a big time player that doesn't need glam and big city's.
I agree. The fact Dame is here, the city is nice for raising kids, and Youth BBall is pretty damn good in the area, all keep Portland in the mix. The fact every major outlet passes over Portland as a contender for LBJ's services is the usual lazy analysist.
