Yes the symbols were cool.

I don't mind the choice...old rockers seem to hit the largest demographic well.

Seemed to me that Townsend was really just...off...on their set. His coat kept flapping in front of the strings to mute the big chords, his vocals were mixed too loud in the spots where he was supposed to be backing(not his fault), and he generally played pretty crappy...it looked to me like he'd been drinking or taking pills...

It shouls be noted in the interest of fairness, that The Who are among my favorite bands ever. So any criticism of seeing them with Ringo's kid and another bassist is just me remembering what they once were. At some point, if Daltrey and Townshend wish to continue making music, they need to brand themselves differently. The Who is gone.
 
I personally dont enjoy watching washed up/old rockers perform. Not saying they werent a great band, I'd just rather see someone in their prime.

But, they did kind of rename themselves at various times as "The Other Ones" and "The Dead"...
 
Janet Jackson's boob was more entertaining imo.
 
I thought it was pretty funny that they pretty closely followed the lead singer through most of the set, and just when they got to his iconic "YEAHHHHHHHH!" on "Won't Get Fooled Again" they cut away, clearly indicating that it was dubbed. Which, when you think of the song title, is uber-ironic. Meet the new boss, same as the old boss.

During "Teenage Wasteland" I nearly shot beer out my nose at the lyric, "Let's get together before we get much older." Because obviously they can't get much older. The only time they actually talk to teenagers is perhaps yelling at them to get off the lawn.

Fantastic stage. But come on. How about bringing in a band that has sold a new song during this millennium. Maybe The White Stripes? Chili Peppers? Metallica?

I went back to check it out and that scream is definitely dubbed in/added...I think most of it was live...but the scream is funny...they did a good job of not focusing on him for it. It's at about 5:12...

The problem with current bands is that the stands are filled with rich middle aged guys...that want to feel young. Bring on Rush! or Ac/Dc! :lol:
 
Yeah, it's pretty much the same reason you still hear tunes like "We will rock you" and "Papa was a rolling stone" at sports events.

The funny thing is that when I hear music from my childhood I just get a little depressed. I listened to nothing but '70s rock until I was about 16. When I hear most of that stuff now I'm just amazed how narrow my taste was.

My 10 year old actually likes Queen. He gets a lot of R&B and hip-hop at his mom's which drives me nuts, but he that stuff, too.

I'd like to see Pearl Jam at the Super Bowl...except it seems almost impossible to really give a good show there...
