<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Once the Nets get Vince Carter's signature on a four-year, $60 million contract, insiders say they'll investigate making a move for Portland's Zach Randolph. It's no surprise that they're leery of Randolph's off-court issues and the fact he has around $60 million left on his contract. But they've seen that Carter can only get them so far in the playoffs. Randolph's post presence would give them an attractive alternative, while his board work is something they definitely could use. To get him, they'd have to send a big package to the Blazers, starting with Richard Jefferson, whose development is being hindered by Carter's presence.</div>

'No Conversations' Between Blazers And Nets On Randolph

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Rod Thorn reiterated that the Nets have had ?no conversations? with the Blazers regarding power forward Zach Randolph, who has a low post offense the Nets could sorely use (but he plays little defense).

Another league source said a deal for Randolph that could involve Richard Jefferson is not completely far-fetched, although he terms it as having a ?long, long shot? of getting done. ?I would say the Nets? interest is at a small percentage at best,? the source said.</div>

I decided to make this the official Zach Randolph thread. From now on, we'll post all the Z-Bo news here.

I'll keep this stickied as well.

So now that Oden will be selected by the Blazers, it's much more likely that they will deal Zach. I'm sure RJ and a filler will pry him away.

I don't think this will happen just because Thorn denied that he will do the trade.

Of course he would. If the trade doesn't go down, RJ will be pretty angry that he was being shopped. He will feel unwanted by the Nets, and might demand a trade.

I also heard that he is a bit upset with the current position he's in, in terms of his offensive role.

He could be Portland's first option.

Maybe he'd be Portland's first option this season but when Greg Oden, Brandon Roy and LaMarcus Aldridge develop, they'd all likely be primary options rather than Jefferson.

Exactly. I think after the draft, trade talks will be more intense.

Nets Not Looking To Break Up Trio?

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Rod Thorn says it is not likely that he will trade any of the Nets' successful trio of Jason Kidd, Vince Carter and Richard Jefferson.

Thorn disputed the rumor that the Nets would deal Jefferson to Portland for Zach Randolph.

"We have not had any substantive talks with anyone regarding Zach Randolph at this time," he said. "I would not anticipate something like that transpiring."

The Nets expect Carter to opt out of his existing contract but believe that a new contract can be agreed upon to keep the all-star in New Jersey.</div>

You should change the title to the Jermaine O'Neal Thread.

Eww, O'neal. I hate the Knicks, they have to pursue everyone. Bet their still looking to get KG too.

I don't think they would want KG when they have Randolph. But knowing them, they probably are.
