"...It's a lack of effort.....lack of heart."

Well put, young man.

4 steals tonight for Webby.

The guy is better than people here give him credit for.

He said he got chastised big-time by fellow players and coaches alike for his disappointing effort against Battier. He wanted to make up for that tonight.

Essentially, his quote was directed towards himself. I'd say he took ownership. :)

Against Battier? Battier had a bad game though. o.O

He probably meant Ariza. Although his shooting percentage wasn't all that great tonight, he played some great defense and kept us afloat in the second quarter.

Well put, young man.

I gotta tell you, I am becoming a major Webster Homer. The dude is giving 110% effort every night. I am such a fan of Hustle.

Count me in amongst those who are starting to become Martell converts; I've always been massively underwhelmed by his inefficient play and tendency to lose focus and confidence (to go along with his previously very mediocre defense).

He's been playing balls to the wall on defense so far and he's no longer drifting in and out the flow of the game. I hope he keeps it up!

Me too, I am such a fan of hustle play, and he's becoming more and more like that "Hustle Guy" we've so missed for quite some time.

Wasn't expecting Marty to look as good as he has. I was worried about him starting after Nic went down, but after watching him the first four games I think it's safe to say he's going to be able to handle that role quite nicely.

With statements like this, I look for sincerity. If he really feels this way, he will do his best not to have lapses. He had one last night.

Let's see what he does in the up coming games.

I like what Webster is doing. No doubt about it. If he can continue it - I will be a card carrying member of the Webster fan club - and will accept any "told you so" you throw in my face for being doubtful...

I've defended Webster in the past and thought he'd be a nice role player eventually, given that he matured. He still could shoot a little more efficiently, but I'm glad he's not just camped out anymore in the corner and doing nothing. And defensively, he's going for rebounds and steals. It's good to see. Hopefully he can stay consistent with his effort.

I have always been a Martell fan. They actually had a video that I made on the Blazer home page right before they switched it. It was of his rookie season i believe. I got into a faze of trying to make videos like the Nike commercials at the time, lol.

hes my 2nd favorite Blazer behind Roy... Still hope he pans out to be a solid starter for the Blazers and to shut all my friends up who have done nothing but say we need to trade him for the last year or two.

heres the video i made btw, lol.. 2006.

What IS the name of the song in that video? Ever since I first saw that video a few years ago (love it, btw), I've been dying to know.

I cant remember and I created it on an old computer of mine and dont have the files anymore... sorry, I do know the song was like a 8 minute long instrumental though, lol. :dunno:

You don't mean "faze", you mean "phase". Faze is a real word that has other meanings.

webster????

half this forum didnt want him over batum

We still prefer Batum - who is a much better defender and has a much higher ceiling. But, Webster is showing improvement - and we are happy about that.

Hey sjla2kology--don't let him faze you. Nobody else really cares about misused homophones.

Before this season nobody ever talked about Webster as an "energy guy." It was always two things--"NBA body" and "great-looking shot."

Watching Batum far surpass him while he wasn't even allowed to compete for an entire year has had a huge impact on his motor.

If he keeps at it, he could morph into "Ruben Patterson with brains and a jumpshot," which would be freakin' awesome.

Im sorry to offend you or make you upset in anyway. As I post on these forums more often you will realized that im not the best with spelling and grammar and when im typing fast and its late I might mix up words sometimes, just the way I am, never was to solid in English class, lol... Also when I typed that I remember thinking that doesn't seem right but at the time I couldn't think of the proper way so I just went with it.

Not offended. Not upset.Just thought you might like to know.

While he is right that there is no excuse for bad play, the team needs to play like they want it every night, and not just one night against Oklahoma. The best teams in the league will still almost beat you, and might still beat you, on a bad night. On a normal and/or good night they will kick the shit out of any of the teams from mediocre to bad on any given night.

It's that confidence and swagga we are seriously missing. For the most part, I see only Webster showing this kind of confidence, from the way he walks up and down the court, to driving to the basket and trying to dunk over people. That's what we need. I think we need to string a few "Fun Games" instead of the "Grind it Out" games to boost our confidence.

+1

I want the team to win. If Webster proves me wrong and helps the team - good for him.

The next question is, will Batum be able to make up for the year of development he has lost? He hasn't just lost a year of progress - there is a good chance he will regress to where he was at the begining of his rookie season.

I guess that is the question, do the good teams have any fun games, or are they all business? Nobody on the Blazers has what I call "The Scowl" on their face when out on the floor. Game face. Warpaint. Whatever you want to call it. I don't think they should look at the games as fun at all. I think they should look at them as an ass kicking that needs to be administered, because the team across the floor is thinking they are going to do the same to you.

A lot of folks were referring to Ruben Patterson up above. The one thing Ruben did every night that nobody on this team does now, is he played frackin hard every night. That is why he made so many teams even though he was a knucklhead. You never had to worry about his motor running. It's running, and ready to hit the throttle. He had that scowl I talked about. He had the physicality I talk about. The only thing he didn't have was basketball and daily life IQ.

I do not know how close Batum's injury is to what Wade had - but you have seen that Wade just was not himself the first time he came back. It was the year after that he regained what he had.
