4 steals tonight for Webby.
The guy is better than people here give him credit for.

He said he got chastised big-time by fellow players and coaches alike for his disappointing effort against Battier. He wanted to make up for that tonight.
Essentially, his quote was directed towards himself. I'd say he took ownership.![]()
He probably meant Ariza.
"...It's a lack of effort.....lack of heart."
~Martell Webster 11/01/2009
Well put, young man.
Count me in amongst those who are starting to become Martell converts; I've always been massively underwhelmed by his inefficient play and tendency to lose focus and confidence (to go along with his previously very mediocre defense).
He's been playing balls to the wall on defense so far and he's no longer drifting in and out the flow of the game. I hope he keeps it up!
I have always been a Martell fan. They actually had a video that I made on the Blazer home page right before they switched it. It was of his rookie season i believe. I got into a faze of trying to make videos like the Nike commercials at the time, lol.
hes my 2nd favorite Blazer behind Roy... Still hope he pans out to be a solid starter for the Blazers and to shut all my friends up who have done nothing but say we need to trade him for the last year or two.
heres the video i made btw, lol.. 2006.

You don't mean "faze", you mean "phase". Faze is a real word that has other meanings.I have always been a Martell fan. Im sorry to offend you or make you upset in anyway. As I post on these forums more often you will realized that im not the best with spelling and grammar and when im typing fast and its late I might mix up words sometimes, just the way I am, never was to solid in English class, lol... Also when I typed that I remember thinking that doesn't seem right but at the time I couldn't think of the proper way so I just went with it.![]()
If he keeps at it, he could morph into "Ruben Patterson with brains and a jumpshot," which would be freakin' awesome.

While he is right that there is no excuse for bad play, the team needs to play like they want it every night, and not just one night against Oklahoma. The best teams in the league will still almost beat you, and might still beat you, on a bad night. On a normal and/or good night they will kick the shit out of any of the teams from mediocre to bad on any given night.
We still prefer Batum - who is a much better defender and has a much higher ceiling. But, Webster is showing improvement - and we are happy about that.
It's that confidence and swagga we are seriously missing. For the most part, I see only Webster showing this kind of confidence, from the way he walks up and down the court, to driving to the basket and trying to dunk over people. That's what we need. I think we need to string a few "Fun Games" instead of the "Grind it Out" games to boost our confidence.
The next question is, will Batum be able to make up for the year of development he has lost? He hasn't just lost a year of progress - there is a good chance he will regress to where he was at the begining of his rookie season.
