Things I’ll Miss:
1. Those beautiful long bombs that can break an opponent’s heart.
2. The drive and dish to an open teammate. (Would have been nice if more teammates could hit an open shot).
3. The solid locker room presence and leadership.
4. The honesty even in losses.
5. The All-Star, All-NBA glitz he brought to this farthest corner of the NBA world.
6. The clutch, 0.9 and dagger 3 with mean face that you just can’t watch enough times.

Things I Won’t Miss:
1. The constant will he stay, will he go drama. Enough already (and FU to the Steven A’s and Shannon Sharpes of the NBA world who incessantly fed that narrative.)
2. The slow pace, iso offense. Bring me some Scoot.
3. Having to listen to his latest rap.
4. The Yoda-ish tweets.

I would add, the lack of team success. No matter how much of a part of that he was, and I place a much bigger blame on our garbage owner and Bert than anyone because Joe doesn't do anything without their permission or approval. But for all the individual success, his type of offensive greatness has been incredibly rare in leading a team to a title. So if we can get more ball movement, less ISO, a little faster pace, and growing as a team, I will welcome that.

....with a new owner would be the icing on the cake.
 
I’ll miss the three four five daggers in a row to put a team to bed for the night. I’ll miss feeling like that shot will go in way more than was reasonable. I’ll miss the mean mug and the quiet swagger.

I won’t miss the double teams, the ease at which defensive minded scrubs could shut him down, the way Westbrook laughed at how easy it was to blow past him.
 
I loved Dame mostly because he was different. He loved us, the City. I thought he was a lifer in a world where there aren't any lifers left.

I overlooked the defense as a result. Dame, by himself was never enough to win a Championship. His game is all offense. He's a bucket.

I'll miss the idea of him being different but have already come to terms with it.

Hopeful for a happy ending someday. One where he comes back and retires a Blazer. I don't really care if he wins a ship or not, esp if in Miami, their fans are atrocious.
 
I will miss the pride I had that the greatest leader in sports built his brand with my team. That the money he made was spent in my state and that he made Portland fun to watch.
I won't miss his social media trolling
 
I think Dame would have been a lifer had we had a competent GM during the years we had a chance.

I'll miss the daggers for sure. I'll miss having the guy who gave you hope in every game.

Won't miss the slow offense, won't miss the "whelp, that's another layup".
 
I won't miss his defense, but I can't honestly say that will be missed, because I'm pretty sure Ant and Scoot are going to allow layups like no tomorrow just like Dame did, because by all measurable stats they're horrific defenders. Don't give me the potential bullshit.

But I'll pretty much miss everything else, starting with the fact that he can single-handedly win a game with (some) regularity -- which I don't see Scoot (or even Shaedon, but I could possibly see Shaedon doing it) being able to accomplish. And I doubt we'll ever see either of them put up 60+, much less 70+. Part of this is that his "logo range" is a legit cheat code (offensively).

I think we're going to be very, very surprised at how good Dame was in comparison to Shaedon and Scoot. This comes from one of the few people who didn't particularly like him getting that massive contract AND that thought he wasn't good enough to be a #1 on a championship team without significant injury luck on our side, btw.

I'm just excited to have a path now more than anything.

I also have a hard time bagging on the two new guys before they've even played 2 years in the league. I'll hold out hope and just appreciate we're finally in a new era.
 
I moved from Portland around the same time Dame joined the team, so I probably have less of an emotional tie to him than most.

2018-2019 was the last year I really tuned in to watch for Dame. Since that time, whenever he has the magical month when he goes crazy I tune to watch Blazers basketball because of him. Other times, not so much since the team was not great.

After that WCF year, tuned in to see how the Blazers look with all the changes and Nurk returning. That was not great. Last year I tuned in to watch Sharpe. A year before that, tuned in to see how Chauncy's team looks. Dame has been around for a while, the entrainment value for me was mostly elsewhere in recent years, so I frankly do not mind the new Era. It's exciting simply for the change.

I will miss that month he goes nuts and becomes a human torch. Otherwise, I am just excited for a different brand of basketball.
 
The chance that there is a "Human Torch" moment. Can't be understated that we collectively lost our shit when Roy hit 50 that one time (or the gamewinner against HOU), but that was potentially a nightly occurrence. The daggers--opening up a new way of offensive though away from "heliocentrism" into "gravity". (More than Steph, better than Trae).

That he liked the non-City-ness of Portland.

Won't miss: That he left.

I'll add to the Things I Won't Miss list:

Those beautiful long bombs that can break our hearts too. His offense was absolutely amazing when it was on, but when he was off...... Dame could shoot you out of a game just as quick as he could shoot you in. It felt like we were along for the ride, for better or for worse.

I'm not sure if Chauncey is a good coach. My gut says he's not. But I don't think Dame ever bought in. He was resistant to any change that took the ball out of his hands. It's going to be super interesting to see how he does on another team, because Dame has been the undeniable king here in Portland. I think Stotts stayed as long as he did because he let Dame do whatever the hell he wanted.

It is not my intention to "bag" on them, as I was driving the Shaedon (and Sochan) bandwagon last year loooooooong before 99% of people.

The reality is that Dame, at times, was arguably a top 3-5 player. Saying that Scoot or Shaedon are unlikely to ever be that good is not "bagging" on them. It's the reality of the situation.

If I said it's unlikely that Brandon Miller is ever going to be as good as LeBron James, is that bagging on him?

It's certainly nice to have a clear path and our GM won't be lying out his teeth telling us how we're trying to win now, so that's refreshing.

Sure that's fair. I'm not one of those saying shae or scoot are gonna be a super massive double trouble type of tandem, either. So in that I suppose we are agreeing on all of it but it was just wording. (Surprise surprise lol)

Winning when we should not be able to.
Sniper 3's with someone 6" taller in his face
Cold blooded confidence
Small market support and belief

will not miss

Lack of "Uh oh..." by the other defense because we rarely fast break with Dame at the helm
Inability to defend the same play over and over, because of defensive libilities
The rap shit
Joining the social media circus ......
 
I absolutely won't miss seeing Dame jack up a long bomb (for absolutely NO good reason) when he's 2 steps over mid court and the rest of the team hasn't even gotten that far up the floor.........and then missing the shot and having the opposing team rebound it, run it back and shove it up our asses because we haven't had a chance to get set up on either end of the floor. The guy could hit the daggers in the clutch but that still doesn't mean he didn't take a boatload of shitty shots along the way......leaving the rest of the team flat footed........

I think that as long as we’re good, he’d love to come back eventually. I guess it would all depend on if his entire family to Miami, sells dealership, etc. I’m kind of hopeful he doesn’t if I’m being honest, not winning there would increase the chances of a homecoming if we have a good team.

Trade Dame for ‘27-‘30 1sts, Scoot and Sharpe enter their prime in ‘26-‘27, Dame comes back to mentor the ‘27-‘30 rookies.

I must admit, that would be a dream scenario.
