Can I ask why you are doing this? What have I ever said to you that makes you so resentful? Are you best friends with Kid Chocolate, or something? If so, no sweat. I understand. If not, why are you getting involved in this?

And if this is about establishing that there are others who DO appreciate my style of writing, should I forward to you the 100+ private messages and emails that I've received over the years that contain gushing praise of it (some even from members of this forum(!) and its predecessor)? Would you prefer a link to a couple of other forums where there are public statements to the same effect? Whether you realize it or not, it's not my style to toot my own horn. But trust me on this: I could if I really wanted to.

Please do everyone a favor and post lists of who is allowed to read your posts, who is allowed to comment on what you write, and what the acceptable reasons are for those people to comment.

Also, please indicate in what tone you wish responses to be and which content is acceptable to disagree with.

If you wish to post templates to guide potential respondents, that would be helpful as well.

If you're looking for cause, I decided to give my 2 cents at the sight of the egregious self-praise you were giving yourself. Such intelligent writing was lost when it left with your modesty

You think an allusion to the phrase "to thine own self be true" is SELF PRAISE? On what planet were you born? If brevity ("see Hamlet" instead of spelling out "to thine own self be true") can lead to even a misunderstanding such as this, how in the world can you criticize when I take the time to be perfectly clear?
 
The quip about Hamlet was about your most recent post. I didn't feel that Hamlet was indicative of any self-praise.

Rather your self-praise has been going on earlier in this thread. Obviously, you asked me why I decided to get involved and gave that as a reason, which means it had to have been going on before the post you made that referenced your sad plight to that of Hamlet.

I hope this is now clear.

I welcome anyone to read my posts who finds them worth reading.
I welcome anyone to respond to my posts who can do so in a reasonably cordial manner and without including condescending, sarcastic, backdoor insults like these (from you):

I have definitely entered the Twilight Zone. Where else could a person defending herself against unprovoked insults and inaccurate accuastions be viewed as engaging in "self praise".
 
I don't see any insults. Perhaps you can point them out so I won't make the same mistake in the future.

I am simply requesting that you tell us all exactly how you require people respond to you.

I feel that's reasonable to ask considering how frustrated you seem about not being able to control other members' reactions to your posts.

You know what, screw it. There are opinions here I like to read, even those of ghoti.
I respect NI's vast knowledge, and I love Dumpy, Netted, reganomics, maxamillion, Universe, NOMAM, and many others. I've enjoyed exchanging ideas and views in the past. But if this is the kind of hospitality I'm going to be extended by moderators and even administrators here, screw it. I don't need the hassle or the "agita". There are plenty of other forums where I can discuss the Nets, probably even a few where I won't be ridiculed for simply being myself.

If you can't separate the two and handle yourself better than this, maybe public discussion forums aren't for you.

Perhaps you can start a blog or write articles. That way you can decide whether you want feedback or if you would rather not interact with people who might disagree with you.

From what i can interpret from just skimming through the thread, it seems people are pissed that FOMV perhaps beats around the bush instead of getting to the point in two paragraphs.
