No, but apparently any sane person could at any moment do just that. We should take their guns away for their own protection. if it isn't about controlling mental illness, the only thing left is to control the guns.

Why not? Does every mentally ill person want to shoot up a mall?
I didn't call you stupid. I called your remarks stupid. You are not what you do.

fallacies are fun!
not all mentally ill people want to shoot up malls. But all people who want ot shoot up malls or actually DO shoot up malls are mentally ill.
It could be argued that the original post in this thread shows the benefit of gun ownership. I guess that what has some of you so upset, the thought that a gun owner acted responsibly and may have spooked the shooter into ending his spree.
It was a pant-shitting post. :MARIS61:
It would be cool, but even if everything this perfectly honest, hardworking citizen says is true, it doesn't counteract Nate's fatalism around responsible gun ownership, which really pissed some of "us" off. Gun owners need to get their shit together, or they will eventually lose their rights.
Link?
I fully support bans on AR-15s and such. I do own a .22 caliber rifle that I got for my 16th birthday, and used to shoot rabbits that were destroying crops at my grandparents' property.

So let me get this right. You're actually postulating that there are sane people, who are not mentally ill or have mental instability, actually want to shoot up malls and kill people.
Because I seriously want to make sure that is actual point you're trying to get across here before I start laughing at you.
mental illness does not equal insane.
as for the 'guns good' 'guns bad' argument, I think the only people really arguing that are people who are in favor of keeping guns laws as they are.
I've never said "guns bad" and in fact have talked about mental illness in this thread and the other.
there might be other people who have used the sayings you are talking about, but I don't think they speak for everyone who is in favor of limiting the accessibility of certain guns.
Because look at yourself, you just said you were in favor of banning certain guns, yet you're not "guns bad!", are you?
You have put "mental illness" under some big umbrella, and I don't find it relevant in terms of having an actual discussion. I offered a solution ... screen everybody, and if you show tendencies toward any mental illness, you are put into a separate category. I'll let people like you decide how to treat those people, in terms of what they can and cannot do in society compared to those deemed sane, or mentally healthy.
I had a previous question for PapaG about sane people shooting up malls. Do try to keep up.
You guys make me a bit angry sometimes, but mostly it's hilarious because nothing any of us says has the slightest effect on anything ever.
I'm not sure if we disagree much here, barring you being sarcastic about this.
But I like my AR-15![]()
but you quoted me. hence my confusion.
(these 2 sentence posts are rad, and this on doesnt count)
unlike all of our posts on the blazer board, which effect everything always
I didn't know Air Soft made an AR-15.
I shit my pants when I think of that avatar.
