Bad is a matter of opinion. So is good.

but because saying something is bad doesn't make it true.
I think the complaints about the complaints are largely in as much haste as the original complaints are.
Some things take steps.
An overhaul doesn't happen over night.
The cap is going to go up.
My opinion is the complaints are living in yesterdays cap and not really looking at the longer, bigger picture here.
Instant world so people want instant improvement. Fixing a decade of mistakes will take time and dismantling can get ugly at times. It doesn’t mean the ugliness isn’t required or permanent.
But some takes on here are viewing it as just that, and thats where the complaining about the complaints come in I think.
No. Stick around and you'll see there are many here that can't take a lick of criticism about the team. It has been that way for decades.

The bigger picture is we have minimal assets to improve and are now hard capped.

Hart is arguably the starting SF right now, especially when Nas inevitably gets injured.

So the starting backcourt is still short and plays no defense, although Ant could theoretically improve.

I’m not so sure about Hart + Ant may or may not be more valuable. Ant still needs to prove for more than 30 games he is worth 25 mill. Hart is expiring so, unless I’m missing something, he has diminished trade value as teams will be scared he won’t re-sign.

Outside of Lillard going off. We really present no matchup problems for other teams. This league is predicated on exploiting mismatches yet we remain with a short little back court.

Sharpe if he develops into what we hope can be a mismatch terror for other teams

I have seen it. I have also seen grudges held onto and how some cant admit being wrong a out anything.
To each thier own though, no?

This thread title, to me though, is not close to accurate.

It’s interesting people think saying the team had a bad off-season is “crying”.

You do know this franchise hasn’t won a chip since the 70s and haven’t realistically competed for 20+ years - although injury luck has factored in.

The franchise deserves some critique. It’s not whining or crying. It’s telling them to do better. Be better.

Saying you have a stated goal to improve roster balance and increase size - then coming back with less balance and less size is certainly worthy of a conversation.

Ding ding ding.

But nope. We made all the right moves and are on the right track to a championship. Hell, put a team of all guards on our team and don't say one bad thing about it. Otherwise you're crying and having a meltdown.

I mean even a guy like Jalen Smith with size and upside would have moved my needle a little bit.
Literally anyone over 6’6 with some potential would’ve moved my needle towards eventually becoming a contender. Nothing wrong with GP2, but for our current roster, it’s a step back that makes no sense.

But that isn't what the thread title stared and I'm pretty sure the crying reaction is based on the thread title and the OP?
Sound like you clarified yourself later though. All good.
At any rate, I bet MR. KJironman is not happy his thread is not being used. :)

Why is it such a drastic difference? Just because someone says the OP is crying doesnt mean that person thinks everything went right and its a ring next year?

There is a middle ground where people sit probably rolling their eyes at both extremes. Consider me one of them I suppose.

Portland aint getting Durant, have to be somewhat realistic.

And the OP admitted it was over the top.

Original post or original poster? Because the original post said nothing of the sort. It said its a complete disaster and there is no other way to put it.
That will get some people chiming in with opposite opinions. Hence the crying comments.

It’s over the top to get clicks. But the overall message is pretty clear.

If my “Boss” asked me what my plan was when I took over “X department” and I said “Well, we are going to fire some people, cut the budget” and then turned around and hired 30 people and increased the budget my boss would say, “what the fuck?”. he wouldn’t say “oh, I know it’s a 3 year task.” He would expect moves that head towards the goal.

Not in the OP; I said it elsewhere.

Sometimes you gotta fight hyperbole with more hyperbole.

Poor analogy in my opinion. Any boss would want a detailed plan and timeline with something like that. If they want to work for a successful company anyhow…

You don't think thats what many posters are doing regarding the OP?

The only hyperbole I'm reading is how bad this has been. I don't see anyone saying we made moves and will win, so who is posting hyperbole?

To be honest it seems like the folks that can't take criticism about the team and their decisions are the ones melting down.

Amazing, isn't it? We just blew our MLE on a 4th guard whose main contribution is to give the team an excuse why Sharpe isn't playing. Beelzebub forbid that anyone should question the move!

We need to wait…Free Agency isn’t over

Nance, RoCo, Little, Powell, CJ, Ant
Grant, Little, Hart, Sharpe, Ant, Payton

Grant > RoCo > Nance
Hart = Powell (more or less and costs less)
Sharpe is the X Factor.
The defense looks BETTER though a little shorter.

Athleticism? Better.
Length? I’d have to go back on the wingspan and max standing reach … but height is down a bit.

Would “you” want last year’s players from the beginning of the season returned and have a theoretically somewhat lower pick? I wouldn’t. I hope a trade involving a taller/longer SF happens.

There are posters that think the Clippers trade was still a good one.

This isn't a one thread issue. This has been going on for decades.

Someone saying the moves are an epic fail is not the same as a bunch of crying emojis imo.

And we can all have faith he will tease us with a few nice games before he goes down again.

I wish the Blazers had a different center. I’ll continue to hope that comes true at the earliest possible date.

Yes, it's somewhat puzzling what we have done so far.

we shall have to agree to disagree.
Though by how many crying comments there are, I think most would disagree with you.

Calling it an epic fail is crying in my opinion. History is irrelevant with a new coach, new gm etc.
Everyone is acting as though those in charge now were in charge then snd have no different game plan when we havent even given a full offseason to see how it is changing.
What I find amusing is how often some will complain but never be able to come up with a realistic alternative option. And they don’t understand how it completely undermines the complaints and many consider it crying.
Anyhow, thats my take. Moving on now.

I personally think Simmons is more likely than Durant and highly disagree that we can't get him if indeed we wanted him.

We needed more than to just get incrementally better.

So you're one of them. That's fine and all, but you can't with a straight face think we have a strong path to contendership with the assets we have.

Many of us have been very pointed, wait to see what Joe does over the offseason (after destroying him for both trades, but now saying the Pelicans trade was ho hum, but the Clippers trade was horrible, and you still have people arguing that), now we waited and saw what Joe has done. It isn't enough. And some of the moves make you scratch your head. So the next stop is the trade deadline. If we are around the play in, its time to shop Lillard. It just is. One player is not who I root for. We can't continue to go around this non contender merry go round and be content with it. Blow it up. Trust the process. And try to draft other star players to get us back to contention.
