Dame ain’t going anywhere for at least another year imo. It’s time for Olshey to first be assertive and clear at that PC on Tuesday, and second for him to nail the rest of the offseason and put this team in position to contend. The West has never been more open. The future is meaningless, the time to go for it is NOW.

As for the fans, this Billups stuff will blow over relatively soon. And like they say, winning cures all.

Maybe he leaked it before it was final so he could see how much backlash there was going to be. Billups isn't the coach yet officially...the Blazers could still go a different direction.

Neil had to know there would be backlash. The Blazers had to know. They know about his past. Jody wanted Hammon. Now we know why.

You wrote exactly what I was about to post. Look at our poll...only 5 people thought it was the wrong decision to hire him? So the cluster fuck is that it was leaked? Seems to me like it was a decent strategy. It gives them time to see how people will react and prepare for it before the news conference. The fact that some fucking morons are blaming Dame is no one's fault but the morons themselves.

Well, he was never convicted BECAUSE he was never charged. OJ, on the other hand managed not to be convicted DESPITE being charged!

If there is any truth it is because Dame was blindsided. He didn't know about the past allegations. Neil did and didn't tell him. He put himself out there to go to bat for Billups. Now there is a major backlash and blame is being put on him. It's a fucked up situation. I would be angry if I was Dame too.

Lol, going back on a coaching hire because the FANS. Having your best player in history asking out because of the FANS. Regardless of who you think is at fault, what does this do for future coaches and free agents you try to sign? What about retaining our own players later? We have a hard enough time attracting talent and have to overpay to keep our own players. Now we have this shit on our hands.

Hire Billups and try to win next season. If that fails trade Dame. Fuck fan pressure.

He's angry because the idiotic fans can't separate left from right. What did they think would happen if they go after Dame (whether he was responsible or not???). They can all go jump in a pit of fire for all I care.

If anyone needs to be questioned about their past, it's Jody Allen. If we're ok with Vulcan/Paul Allen and Jody sweeping sexual harassment and poaching under the rug with hush money and NDAs, then we should be just fine with hiring Billups who has never been charged in a crime. We can't have it both ways Blazer fans. I swear to God this woke, cancel culture being waged by the media is obnoxious - Haynes is a tool who is a clinger on the Blazers beat and people need to stop being baited into his clickbait traps...

Again, NOBODY talked about this situation with Billups for years!!! If Billups' name was brought up to you 2 months ago as a potential replacement for Stotts, I highly doubt you know anything about this. Because nobody has brought this up over any of his recent jobs. This was dug up from the depths by fake outraged Portland "fans". Dame wouldn't have said Billups' name if he saw this coming. Nobody with a level head saw this coming
 
I don't want to see Dame leave, but, at the same time, if getting grief from some people on Twitter makes him feel that slighted that he's threatening to take his ball and go somewhere else, well, what are you going to do? It would be something else sooner or later.

If this is true, it's unfortunate, but it also would make me see Dame as not being the leader he projected himself as being. Yeah, fans can be crappy. Get traded to the Knicks or the Sixers and see how fun it is if you have a bad week.
