Keep in mind that he did most of his damage when it counted.

Fuck, If he has a season like this the 2.4mill will look like a bargain.

Antoine "Shoulda picked up my option" Wright!

Who knows though, maybe NOT picking up his option fired him up.

Wright definitely looked more valuable than Nachbar this game.

Where the hell did it come from?

I'm excited with what I saw from Antoine, but now he has me expecting him to play like that on a consistent basis.

Antoine Wright should be the 3rd or 4th scorer behind VC and RJ.

He is so great, 3th season is his year.

He had great composure.

He started out 1-4 from 3 point land and finished 4-7 from downtown.

Boone on the other hand, yuck.

antoine was the player of the game on both ends of the floor tonight, he shut down gordon in the 4th and OT.

VC was garbage tonight

QUOTE

Boone on the other hand, yuck

Yeah, dude. I was screaming at the TV every time Boone would screw up or fail to rebound the ball. Today wasn't a good day for him, perhaps because he was the last to get off the bench. Magloire, Allen took up his mins.

No, I'm not a prophet. Just a man who believed in a guy he's liked for awhile.

QUOTE (Black Republican)

^^^Are u serious?.......What bout Nenad?............But dat nigga antoine was on fiya

Nads was pretty solid, when looking at the statline. 10 points, 5 reb, 1 blk...3 TO : in 20 minutes.

If he continues to play this way, the Nets will just resign Wright with the money they were probably going to give Nachbar, because boki sure as hell cant play D the way this kid can.

QUOTE (GrandKenyon6)

I know someone who's not surprised.

Yep, I was backing Wright every year too.

about time antoine. i cant believe not only that he seemed like he was shooting at a 100% clip, but he was hitting them when they mattered. towards the end of the game and in the 4th i expected him to make every shot he took, thats how much confidence he showed and made me confidence. he was definitely the xfactor tonight. he took on the role boki did last year on the O end, but his defense got better as teh game went on. gordon tried to shake him a few times and failed, but gordon did have his moments where he made enough space. if this is the antoine we get for the next 81 games then teams need to watch out because we can bring boki AND antoine off the bench for Offense, cant believe i said AW can come in for offense.

player of the game: antoine (easy to a degree bc kidd was amazing like always)

mr butterfingers: boone

mr. frustration: vince

i like to foul: mags

coach of the game: DA. did anyone else notice that DA was standing the entire time basically on the bench? its not that they ran outta seats or he didnt want to sit on the floor, it was because he was basically being a bench coach which for me was GREAT to see. i love his energy and everything he brings. marcus is going to have a tough time when he comes back because we are not sliding DA to the end of the bench that is for sure. if anything marcus and DA can play together, but DA did so many positive things today and i dont see why he wont do it all year (the only negative he has is age, but he plays like hes 25).

I hope to god Antoine keeps this up, but we've got 81 games to go. This one game shouldn't off-set 2 years of a career

great game! man crowd was pumped and wright was great tonight!

So I'm not the only one who noticed. Everyone's getting so hyped up about his big scoring...we shouldn't forget about what gets him minutes in the first place. He was on Gordon the whole time I watched, and he had Ben locked down. Wright played extremely clutch defense in OT.

And I did notice DA yelling, alot. I think it's great to have that kind of communication from a player.

there were a few plays where gordon was going 1v1 with wright and tried to shake him in the middle of the floor and antoine was on him like glue, gordon didnt even get a step on wright let alone enough space for a shot. then antoine stuck to him again while he drove to the basket and blocked his shot.

if we are going to play small ball like today, then antoine is going to get a lot of crucial minutes and will guard the best or 2nd best offensive player depending on who they have out there and if we have rj/kidd out there. it was great to watch his D today it really was. cant wait to watch the ENCORE!!!

btw. look how far antoine has come. not because of his scoring alone today, but frank played him when the game matter and the game was on the line. i remember the kid couldnt get meaninglyful minutes at one time and today he played a HUGE role on the O and D end. bravo antoine, that hard word is paying off keep it up kid.

he was having a decent game even before he went off. Every time Kidd hit him behind the arc he was money. I agree with Gigga tho, if this is the Antoine we get this year...

Happy for him but everybody has one game. We need this way more often.

Wright is a beast I think the only problem at this point is that we have so much talent that we don't know how to give out the minutes. Especially when Marcus Williams comes back. I've always been a Jason Collins hater.. but if he keeps rockin that fro like Big Ben I gotta give him some respect!! And I can't believe Sean Williams didn't get in even while Boone sucked it up! I wanted to see Sean and Tyrus face off so bad and see who is really more athletic

Ha, yeah, that woulda been crazy. There woulda been dunks and blocks all over.

He's 23. There were players drafted this June who are older. Al Thornton, Alando Tucker, Carl Landry, among others.

The Nets should have had more patience. It was a dumb move, primarily because of 1) the risk that he would play well and 2) the replacement value will be greater than what the Nets would have paid him next season: $2.56 million. He had shown enough to worth that minimal risk.

Obviously, it was one game...on offense. His four threes are one-sixth his career total. But his defense has been NBA-level or better since the beginning of last season.

That's good reasoning. But so is the notion that he might not have had a game like the one last night if the Nets HAD picked up his option. The kid just wasn't showing any kind of consistent ability or talent on the offensive end of the floor. And, even with the slap in the face from the Nets as motivation, I'm not at all ready to conclude after one game that they were stupid for not extending.

He looked great offensively in a couple of preseason games last year and proceeded to look anywhere from reluctant/scared to inept offensively in the vast majority of actual games. His pre-season this year was NOT impressive (though Frank's opinion would seem to indicate he had a great camp). But ultimately it's not about preseason and practices. It's about what you do in games. In that regard, he hadn't shown enough (before last night) IMO for the Nets to commit 2.5 mil to him that might go next year towards an established vet. Which begs the question of how much of last night was the result of the "slight" the Nets issued. If this was the factor that it took to psychologically get him out of a state of fear and into a "let it fly", "I've got nothing to lose" mentality, it may turn out to be a great decision, albeit one that will only reap benefits for this season.

Murphy was an optimist. If the Nets had picked up his option, he would have played like crap

Good to see he contributed and he mattered in the game. If him and Boki plays consistently this season, we're set at the 2 and 3!

Having said that, this is a contract year for Boki and Toine. I'm not sure if that's the reason they're fired up for the season. It's good, but it's sad. Professional ballers should always play like there's no tomorrow (yes Vince, you listening?). Once they signed a new contract, they slack back
