I know it's still early but we all talk about how Wes could be a good sixth man but how about Will Barton?

Why not? He could be a big part of this team next year. I think he could very well have a bright future as a scorer and he never gets talked about.

I see Barton as a corey Brewer type off the bench. I think he could play the two off the bench. Maynor, Barton, Claver, Meyers. He needs to work on his shot. But brewer improved his so I think Barton's capable and Barton's handles are already as good if not better.

He's not quite ready to help us on a consistent basis. Couple years away. Outlaw 2.0

Here's to the Blazers going into tank mode and Wild Will the Thrill getting more burn

IMO his "wildness" has already been tamed a good bit by the coaches - a very good thing. He has a ways to go but at least I can see significant improvement. I'd like to see all the younger guys (except Nolan and Babbit) get a lot of minutes the rest of the way.

I'm looking forward to the day when we don't have "the "OFFICIAL" whatever threads anymore. Or the need to start a new thread over something trivial and make it sound important by putting "OFFICIAL" in it.

Will Barton doesn't deserve a thread that stays up long.

7.0 PER.

Officially.

Big difference between Outlaw and Will Barton: Will is actually interested in getting rebounds, and he handles the ball and passes pretty well.
I think he will develop in to good bench player.

Bartons got that sixth man mindset of "shoot first, shoot second, shoot third, OH SHIT I NEED TO PA... wait I can still get a shot off". Has the skill set of a momentum guy you toss in there to jack up a few shots, if he gets hot keep him in if he is cold take him out.

His personal life scares the crap out of me. Does anyone follow him twitter? He's had some hardcore looking characters staying with him from his hometown of Baltimore. Kind of like The Wire's version of the Hoop Family. I like him. His rags to NBA story is great! Sharing 1 bed with his mom and brother while going to high school is incredible. I just hope that he isn't out of the NBA and broke in a few years.

So yes, give him lots of burn! Give he a chance to earn a career in the NBA.

I just wish Nolan Smith had his confidence, he'd likely be a solid 6th man for us.

He seems more like a Jason terry type player. I think once maynor plays, we will see more of him at 2.

agree on him being a combo guard, he just always seems really passive and timid. Maybe it was trying under Nate to be too much of a "true" PG. But I wish he had the confidence here that Will does to do his thing and see what happens. Am sure even if he ever becomes passable, it won't be here, but he obviously has talent. 20/5/5 in the ACC is nothing to blow off.

If Travis Outlaw is a poor man's Jamaal Crawford, Will Barton is a blind leper beggar's Travis Outlaw.

Yeah, but Travis Outlaw isn't a poor man's Jamaal Crawford.

I think Will will have a higher BBall IQ than Outlaw. Will may still look out of control sometimes but not like Outlaw did.

IMO he will be lucky to stay with the team, I think Crabbe beats him out as the season progresses and Will for the most part rides the pine

I rewatched the first LVSL game and one of the plays was really emblematic of his problems:

He was driving toward the basket from the side and it knocked him off balance, a non-shooting foul was called. If he was stronger he would easily have gotten a shot off and gotten to the line. If he was very strong he might have actually made the basket. He was 0-12 before garbage time and missed a lot of makeable shots. My feeling is that if he was stronger he would be less affected by the defense and he would make more.

The guy needs to add muscle pretty much everywhere the eye can see.
