Ok, so will Stotts vonleh Giles this season?

I still can’t believe we played Melo over Trent. Stotts will never win a championships as a Head coach.

"It's not Stotts' fault he doesn't have any defensive players."

He's had them the whole time. He's just not interested in playing them. Gabriel, Trent and Little were planted on the bench while Tolliver, Hezonja and Bazemore were playing.

somewhere in the Alps is a village who has no clue you, or this place, exists, and they too will die not being some dude on the internet.
It's name is Allien-le-Vieux
It's in France actually. They are pretty much still living in the 1800's other than cars that drive through.

Are you saying you’re some DEAD dude on the internet?

We're all just embedded memories of personalities, in the end. In the long view, which ones are alive or dead at this moment is kind of irrelevant.

If Dame died tonight I’d venture that most of us would think that is more relevant than irrelevant.

Than again, as an irrelevant embedded memory, my opinion probably has no relevance.

:blessed:

thats irrevelant to the topic at hand. However your post in its own was relevant to another conversation going on in an irrevelant thread.

so your post does have some relevance on some irrelevant scale

Apparently it was Melo all along...

Yeah, without Melo we actually do look like the deepest team in the league... with a pretty damn good starting lineup. Then when Zach comes back it might be time to ask Melo to retire.

Thank you overly emotional people on team forums like the poster who started this thread. I’ll assume the poster is a high school student who loves the Blazers, and well done!

Unscripted internetainment at its best.

I think even a high schooler could spell entertainment.

I’ll eat crow the remainder of the year as long as I see the energy and effort we saw against the Lakers in the rest of our games. The defensive effort was palpable and the Blazers fed off of it. You could tell once the Blazers punched the Lakers in the mouth they didn’t have an answer.

This thread was doomed for greatness from the second the title was written.

Sure, there may be multiple times this season where things are going poorly where some might argue once again and that this assessment is accurate.

Yes, there will be multiple times this season where things are going poorly where they argue this is actually true once again.

I mean... if people can't see a clear difference with this team without Melo, I don't know what to tell you.

Another key factor:

Game 1 against the Jazz - CJ with 3 assists.

Game 2 against the Rockets - CJ with 8 assists

Game 3 against the Lakers - CJ with 11 assists.

Clearly CJ has owned up to the fact that he was playing a huge part in the selfish basketball on the second team. This is the most unselfish I have seen him play (without Dame) in his career.

It's only 3 games, and early stats are always misleading, but CJ is averaging more assists per game than Dame up this point.

The stupid thing is that basketball should start keeping track of assists the same way that hockey does. How many times does Dame find a guy who then immediately finds another guy who scores? But Dame gets nothing.

Will not disagree with you here. The hockey assist should be counted.

It's totally reasonable to expect a team to beat the defending champs every game.

Definitely a reasonable standard, as NBA teams are known to go undefeated all the time.

I'm not the one to defend Melo, but even with him, this team is no where close to the worst blazer team ever; no matter how you define team.

It was a drastict, emotional, overraction.

I'm glad you said it because I was thinking this too. I feel like being the best team in the league is the expectation for far too many people here, despite this roster being nowhere near the best roster in the league.

Where did I say that going undefeated is my expectation? I’m ok with a loss if we played hard. We’re going to lose. I just don’t want this team looking disinterested again like they did against the jazz and rockets.

Guys just stepped up on D tonight. Also, some guys hit some shots they hadn't been in a couple weeks. Don't worry, we'll be bad again Wednesday right?

Which part did you disagree with?

The collection of talent.

The pissing away Dame's prime.

The complete lack of ball movement and defense.

Put it all together and this is a worse team than the Telfair years or the Felton years. This team is shameful and Stotts need to be fired immediately.

The defense and ball movement has stepped up immensely, largely in part because Melo isn't here and CJ is actually moving the ball. I acknowledged in the first post that the team has a ton of talent. I'm still extremely skeptical that Stotts won't fuck things up when Melo comes back. The team needs a trade, or they need to cut Melo. Either way, we saw what the rotation should be tonight. We don't need Melo anymore.

Bad? You are downplaying this again. We've been bad many season.

WORST BLAZER TEAM is the standard we need to achieve.

.

The title of this thread.

"Worst season opener I've seen in my lifetime." might have been a little less dramatic.

I'm just ribbing you in good fun.
