Notice This is the worst Blazer team I have seen in my lifetime.

If we can't vent our frustrations on here, where can we?

And trust me, regardless of how I frame my post, there's always going to be homers on here who will show up to white knight the team. Death, taxes, and sunshine pumping. Without fail.

It's toally fair to vent in my opinion, but with such extreme hyperbole, you should expect a few people to question it. I would imagine a similar reaction to the "This is the best Blazer team in my lifetime" thread as well.

While it's way too early to judge (this should be a key point), I have a feeling this team is highly unlikely to go down anywhere close to the worst team in history. We've seen far worse teams in the past 2 decades. We've had some self-interested, poorly coached, and difficult to root for teams that you may have forgot about.

Wow! Way to make @Natebishop3 OP look like absolute level headed genius. If someone posted a "This is the best Blazer team in my lifetime" thread after the steaming pile of shit a lot of us saw last night the reaction would and should not be similar to the reactions in this thread. The "best Blazer team" poster theoretically should be berated as the worst poster in the history of this forum or someone with a bad sense of humor.

there’s a difference between questioning it and outright dismissing it with the same homer outlook from the same people who call everyone CJ haters.

@Natebishop3 and @Chris Craig I just expect so much more from both of you. I don't understand why you guys don't realize that this is the absolute earliest in a season you can be. So you guys should just admit that this is an absolutely emotional reaction because I know that both of you understand that the preseason and first game of the season have never been accurate and consistent bellwethers of where a team will end up at the season's end (with or without trades). I realize you guys will point to previous seasons as proof but in the same post you might also mention that you have some omniscient way to know how DJJ and RoCo will or won't change the result of past outcomes. It's not your negativity that is so out of whack it's your certainty that your negativity isn't clouding your outlook and prognostications.

My reaction last night saying this team was the worst team I ever seen or worse than the post jail Blazer era team was emotional and sarcastic. I was pissed at a lackluster....no not even a lackluster effort by this team.

Today in my posts I have gotten passed the emotion and have expressed opinions (shared by others) backed up by fact. The Blazers are playing terrible. There are several issues including lineups, effort, schemes, etc. And, it is all disconcerting.

I realize the second Kings game and the two Denver games were preseason. Stotts fucked up not using those games seriously. You ready your team and have them play like they would in the season like Malone did, or you can fuck around and play with a its just preseason mindset. The difference is a winning mentality vs a losing mentality.

Now, the plays have stumbled into the season. Will, they get it figured out...eventually yes. But, the issues remain evident and that is a fact, nothing emotional about it.

And, I am not talking about where they will end up. I am talking about where they are now and what can be done about it.

Totally agree... Questioning things is legit. I think dismissing an assessment of this being the worst Blazer team ever after 4 preseason and 1 regular season game is also legit. Lets not forget the people planning a parade after Game 1 of this preseason, they were also very premature.

Agreed... long term takes after one regular season outcome would be worthy of that type of reaction. If the Blazers beat Houston by 20 on Saturday, I would hope nobody takes the opposite stance.

I'll tell you something a little funny. My reactions in this thread were a result of the title taking away a lot of the time I would have spent being pissed over that performance last night and put me right into an argumentative mode that made me defend something that I was moments before extremely disappointed by. I think that might explain a lot of what's gone on in this thread. Anyway you look at it, it has made for a very lively and entertaining thread.

No human could watch that game and say anything other than it was a steaming pile of dogshit. That being said, it leaves people seemingly in three groups:

1- Blow it up I’ve seen enough
2- They will be fine it’ll take time
3- I have no clue what’s happening or will happen

truthfully everyone should technically be #3. I don’t have a problem with any of the three. I just have a hard time with making a decision after one real game with some new players, some off major injuries, Covid, and so on.

It's just sad that the biggest concerns by people coming into the season are all being validated:

1.) Stotts issues in the last 4 years.
2.) Melo/CJ ball dominating.
3.) Defense on the second unit.
4.) Shot creation in the first unit when Dame is being doubled.

We've needed a fresh voice on the team for such a long time now. Just somebody that could come in with an unbiased view of the team as a whole and not be tied to any sort of sentimental value. The Stotts + Olshey + Dame + CJ is a self contained positive feedback loop that doubles down when things aren't working. We have been trying to jam a square peg into a round hole for years now, and PA's death has left a void in terms of having a check on the core.

Either sell the team or bring in someone that is actually going to put some pressure on the team.

One thing I noticed with number 4...the offensive scheme for our starting lineup is RoCO and DJJ are not getting enough touches.

Dame gets doubled he either throws to Nurkic or CJ. If he throws to CJ, CJ usually takes the shot. If Dame throws it to Nurkic, Nurkic, either throws it back to Dame, who throws it back to CJ after getting doubled again, or Nurkic through back to CJ. Either way CJ gets the ball, and CJ shoots it. We need to get RoCo and DJJ involved more if we are staying with that lineup.

You rang? I tend to look to enjoy the season every year...fan angst is my personal least favorite part of the sport. With as shitty as covid has made things, if you can't enjoy something out of a high risk attempt to be entertained by your local sports franchise you might want to follow a super team this season....we're a work in progress. People will vent here but cheering is not a crime...being optimistic is not as boring as endless pessimism either...choices..you do you ...won't change anything about my Blazer experience...I think we're going to be a really good team with 20 games under our belt

Number one is an immediate emotional response and no one really means it, at least not most. Number two is likely true. Over time the Blazers will get better. Both the Jazz and Nuggets Rosters have a strong continuity and know where players are best used. The Blazers need to figure out how to best use RoCo, DJJ, and perhaps Giles, and how this team fits.

As for number three. We can see clearly what is happening, but we can't really know what will happen as chemistry evolves and hopefully, adjustments are made.

Sorry they aren’t blind homers

Except I don't go into threads of the other side and argue or insult the poster. I usually just pass over them.

Nobody is forced to read or reply to this thread.

I'm not standing in your room screaming at the top of my lungs. You can either choose to read my thread (which was clearly marked) or you can choose not to read it. I have started ignoring people that either don't enter into debates in good faith, or are just outright annoying. If anyone wants to put me on ignore, I encourage you to do it. It doesn't bother me.

OK dude... I know that, thus the post you were replying to. I expect more from them. They explained what was going on and now I understand where they were coming from. You see how that works, you listen and then learn.

I wouldn't put you on ignore...if I didn't read your posts I wouldn't reply.....insulting posters is something I flag and don't respond to much anymore....talking about the team is a different story....I'm a fan and one who feels like we're going to be a better team this season ...my views are much less popular than yours about the team....I'm used to that around here

The blind see more than we do
That's my point...and they also go to sporting events....Ray Charles, Stevie Wonder both referred to watching TV or Games...they just watch with their ears radio style.....blind is used as an adjective too often assuming they are unaware....I think people need to change the way they use the term, that's all.

This team usually enter each season feeling like it's hot shit and games are going to be handed to them and then after 2 months of reality smacking them in the face they begin to play better with their backs against the wall.

One time it's because they actually made the playoffs with no one expecting them to, one time it's because they just made the WCF and now it's because they added some overrated role players from other teams.

Give it time, i promise we'll have another mediocre season eventually.

Wow well said. Been saying this for years. Glad this place is turning around. This core is just stale and played out. Either fire the coach or something big to change it.

I loved the Covington move but what else did we really do? I’ve said it during free agency after the RoCo move the rest were ok but nothing like the hype this place had. And not just here, the whole national media is on our nuts and I have no idea why

Firing the coach is probably one of the easiest things you can do in the NBA in terms of making a change.
It has no cap implications, you don't have to worry about rules or restrictions and other coaches are available all the time.

No one have been watching Stotts' teams this past decade saying "LOOK AT THIS.... THIS GUY IS A FUCKING GENIUS!"
lol

The guy is getting Championship caliber coach favoritism by the front office and it makes no sense.

The only reason he is still here is because of Dame. Dame wants him as coach so he is coach.

Grandpa Sankey...

Problem with Stotts he doesn't like change. He is set who he start and players comes off the bench and when he calls timeouts. He will allows some players get away with a lot shit and others players he will take there minutes from them or due what did to Nurk in preseason. He try different type defense in preseason that wasn't working so he will back the same drop defense he always use. Now CJ he just not team players because only time he will pass when he can't get the shot off. Defensely he make a good play once in a blue moon but Stotts won't ring him in and can put Melo in that same catorogry. Stotts has to change up his lineups where he has to good defender on each unit plus that 2nd unit can't have CJ at point due he doesn't get anyone involved except maybe he will pass to Melo and you know where that's leads. But it's the coach job put players in position where they can be successful. Some people talking about Hood play and not playing like he use to but Stotts could rotate him with the 1st unit 5 minutes at time in the 1st quarter and third. That way you can bring Giles in with the 2nd unit and move Melo over to SF because Stotts don't enough on his ass to bench him when he not performing out there. Maybe start Melo and put Jones with the 2nd unit because a coaches job to have good offense and defense balance on each unit. This is my opinion about this team.
