There's no other way around it. After this one they will be 19-19 since August 1st. Even more disturbing is that they will be 10-14 in their last 24 home games during that stretch. 9-5 on the road and this team manages to go 10-14 at home. That's what happens when you not only let Toronto bend you over but you also drop three of four to the Indians and two of three to the Orioles. We can talk about Toronto's hot streak all we want but it has nothing to do with the dive the Yankees have taken since the trading deadline. Now 0-6 in their last five home games against Toronto. That's right 0-6 in their last six at home against Toronto. Still think they shouldn't of done a single thing at the deadline? Not even a veteran arm for out of the pen? I mean seven games up to 3.5 games behind. That's something a GM who thought this team was good enough needs to answer for.

I'll go you one better Vic..................

July 28th standings = ..............

Yankees 57-42
Blue Jays 50-51...............8 full games behind.

Since July 28th the Yankees have gone 20-21 while the Jays have gone 31-9 = a pickup of 11 1/2 games over the last 6 weeks.

The loss of Tex on a team not deep enough to begin with seems like it was way too big of a blow. Now Eovaldi stretches the staff and pen even thinner. That's why the original points remain. When you do nothing at the deadline you face these situations. This team banked on roster expansion for some reason like it was going to be good enough.

Yeah. I think they will continue to flounder.
Not making the playoffs is a real possibilty.

If they do not make the playoffs, Cashman survives....
Can't imagine being rewarded for failure.

Like I just posted in the new game thread. They need to win tonight and tomorrow's games. At the very least to stem the tide because like you said something like this could lead to falling out of the playoffs all together.

1st- I don't blame Girardi at all, He's done a great job with what garbage, and situations; He's been given. Seriously, who here expected the Yanx to hang onto 1st place in the AL East until late August, and would probably still be atop the East, had Toronto not of shored up their Pitching, and defense, as well as adding Tulo's bat, even tho' the Jays were loaded with bats.

Who expected Tex to return to form, then get hurt (again, this is getting old quick just like Tex), or A-Roid to contribute, who expected to pay Headley triple the $$$ that he's not worth. Or- who ever thought Drew should still on the payroll, other than Brian?

As long as Drew is (and a few others) in PS, IMO, such is a barometer of Trashman's incompetence........

I'd applaud Trashman if he could get CC, to retire, allowing the Yanx to collect his insurance money. I believe in years to come we will see less long term salaries, less money offered, and Contracts with NO Guaranteed Monies $$$$$......

Will any Owner ever grow the balls, to insist on Contracts, with clauses, in those long pricy contracts, to not ensure guaranteed monies, if such player like CC has more than 1 year left on their contracts, and cannot return to form after rehab..........CC put a fork in 'em, His career is Ovah.........

But not many if any other than the Bums, can afford to pay damn near 100 Million on players to sit at home, or pay the majority of players salaries, with another Team. One way Guggenheim is the anti-christ of MLB.......

BTW- does every poster here know Josh Donaldson is only making, $4, 300,000.--

I am thankful Brian did NOT trade away, Bird, Seve, Judge......but I'm also surprised He didn't, trade these kids away; which would of definitely been an act of Treason.....moreso grounds for dismissal. Sometimes no move is the best move, but IMO, not in this case with the Yanx brass.....

It would of been nice to seen both Tulo and Mr. Price in PS's. Yet, we all know it would of taken, not only our key Minor Leaguers to pull of such a trade. On top of such a trade(s), the Yanx would of added approximately another 35-40+$ Million $$$ to their payroll.

Tho' Price is a FA after this year, I'd be shocked if Toronto does not retain Him with a new high dollar contract, before this season is over........

Yet, this is what the Jays got for Price: Traded by the Detroit Tigers to the Toronto Blue Jays, for Jairo Labourt-(minors), Matt Boyd, and Daniel Norris.

Reference new post, on its way..........

Like you said in the thread. The Blue Jays are sticking in the knife right now. I would be shocked if this wasn't a four game sweep and they head out 5.5 games up with the division pretty much locked.

break out the shotguns and bird shot.........no wait a moment, there are no more Shells.....

The Blue Jays have done a very good job of completely exposing this team the last couple of nights.

Speaking of Tex, if his injury prevents him from returning to baseball, would insurance pick up his salary????????????????

Not sure how that fracture would affect a return but the man has been a bit on the brittle side. Sabathia will need to be looked at as well with his knee problems.

That's what happens when you abuse your body with years of steroid and horse hormone abuse. I've always said Tex was a poster child for PED use over the years.

One has to wonder.....

...if they don't win today the division would indeed be pretty much locked up. The Yanx would have to go 15-5 while the Jays would have to play sub-.500 ball for the rest of the regular season...and I don't see either of those possibilities happening.

I think the division ship has sailed....

And if they lose the WC, pasta is gonna be vindicated when they can #28 before we win #28.

Not all that likely but as fucked up as the playoff system is, the Yankees could get a wild card, get hot and win.

And I'd like to make a sandwich with Jennifer Lopez & Salma Hayek but its not gonna happen.......................................................Okay that reaching.

...yup, St Louis pulled it off awhile back.

After today they go to Tampa for 3 but then on to Citi field for 3 against the red hot Mets & then to the team that seems to own the Yankees (blue jays) for 3 more.

we're talkin 4 games here, 4, man we're talkin 4 games here 4 mannnnnnnnnn 4 games???? pshhhhhhhhh 4 games......... man das booschittttt 4 games cmon man we talkin 4 games.....

4 more wins then the yanks, y don't we wait till the end b4 posting the sky is fallin, esp. now since they have have a major injury to deal with...

alllz i gots2 say iz yanks BETTER take care of the teams they are supposed 2 beat from this point forward

The Yankees needed a split with Toronto came up short. I'll cut Sevy a little slack, Pineda and Nova were complete fuck ups and Tank pitched a gem Today excepted the pen shit the bed, that four run fuck up by Capuano cost a win so there you are 1 of four. Looking at the Rays series CCin game 1, no pitcher listed for game 2, Sevy fo game 3.. The Jays draw Atlanta, anything can happen but I'd say the Jays have a bit easier run over the next series.

I'm glad they won but I'm not going to wave pom poms over going 2-5 against Baltimore and Toronto.

Just like '85, 1 win, three losses, and this time Ellsbury was the hero. Don't know how many runners he stranded total but I observed at least 3 at bats where he stranded 2 runners per. 1 for 18 total, Jesus Christ that's terrible performance.

Ellsbury is 1 for his last 23 & 5 for his last 44. That's a BA of 113 with no XBH & no RBI. And this is at the top of the order.
