I'm not sure where the Blazers are going, but losing on your home court to a 4 win team is unacceptable, I don't care who is injured, or what the situation is. Nate needs to take these three days off and drill some life and spark back into this team. BRoy is the only one out there who seems to give a damn. Greg Oden needs some COACHING, the man is just going out there on instinct and little else right now, and no wonder he's doing poorly. Get Bill Russell, Kareem, hell, BILL WALTON in here as his coach and go to work!

The sun will come up tomorrow, but the players need one day off, then on Sunday, Nate needs to bust their ASS in practice and get some fire in their bellies.

Sorry, Chris, but that's total BS. If you think the Clipper team that played tonight, now that they're healthy, is likely to lose as many games as they have to this point in the season, you're sadly mistaken. Failing to recognize the impact of fatigue in a game like this is absurd. What are the odds that Steve Blake misses those free throws if his legs weren't dead? For the Blazers starters to play as many minutes as they did tonight, after a back-to-back and the ridiculous schedule that the NBA scheduling masochists have had them on, takes a serious toll. For you to call them out as not giving a damn is way out of line, IMO.

Are you seriously trying to justify why one of the best free throw shooters in the league would miss 4/5 free throws, which even one of which would have put the game away?

Blake choked. Simple as that. They need to give the guys these days off and let them chill at home and rest. No practice, no nothing. Not even a shoot around.

Strangely, this game made me sad for Blake more than anything and I wasn't as pissed off as I would normally be. I don't know why really.

Chances Blake would have made only one of five free throws tonight:

0.94 * 0.06^4 = 0.00122%

Very tough to swallow.

Inexcusable really. No reason whatsoever we should lose to the Clippers at home.

Who looks good in the lottery?

Well that doesn't really make sense, because weren't most of those free throws the result of Blake getting fouled? Correct me if I'm wrong.

One of them resulted off of a foul before the inbounds, which let the Blazers choose someone to shoot it.

I would have went completely opposite and send Oden to the line.

1/5.

Dude the schedule that they have played is torrid. I'm not happy about this but I can see why they could lose to an inferior team

Justify? No. Make a reasoned assessment that fatigue plays a factor in shooting? Yeah.

A guy who normally shoots around 94% from the line isn't likely to miss 4 out of 5 unless he's worn out. Blake's hit plenty of clutch shots this season. Some of you guys make no concessions to reality. These guys are beat and it's affecting their performance.

Nice to see we learned nothing from the Orlando game. Foul the opposing team when you are up by 3 (not while they are shooting a 3-pointer of course) and you win the game.

Nate is horrendous in these late game situations.

It is true, Rudy's shot that used to float up nicely with arc and trickle back through the net without moving it has changed to more of an all arm flat jumper more like a shot put. He got up nicely on that alley oop but his legs are just tired and he has skinny ass arms.

They all need some time off.

Why is it that 90 % of the coaches don't foul in that situation?

A free throw. Step up to the line. Gather yourself. Shoot.

You're telling me that fatigue made him miss 4/5 free throws. I'll accept that fatigue can hurt your shooting, but a great free throw shooter like Blake should never miss that many, ever.

1/5.

I think the fist miss was Nate's choice. Rudy has only missed 4 all year, but like yu said Rudy's shot had been off all night so it might have been the right thing to put Blake at the line.

I don't know. I also don't know why we wouldn't foul and put Oden, LMA, Frye, Batum and Roy in the game for the foul shots. Rebounding is the key if they miss the second.

90% of coaches are idiots then.

You should always foul in that situation when the other team has no timeouts. Again, foul when they aren't shooting. We win the game if Nate made that call.

I would assume that Blake is probably designated for that role. After tonight, who knows?

I completely disagree with fouling in that situation. That gives the guy a chance to make the first and miss the second to try and get a tip-in.

Besides, lets say we HAD fouled and they knocked down both shots. We would have been up by one point, and Nate would have put the ball in Blake's hands right? I think we all know how that would have worked out tonight.

That's really improbable. I would take that over a good three point attempt.

So then we are are tied and go to OT? Oh wait, that happened anyway.

I've seen MANY more games where a team hits a 3 to win or go to OT than a game that's won or tied on a tip in. Tip ins are VERY rare (and I watch a lot of League Pass).

The only thing I worry about is the fact that it gives the refs a chance to screw you. If the other team does get their hands on the ball, the refs could call a foul too and give the other team a chance to win.

Never should have been needed anyway. Oh well. Hey, just thought of something. This kind of frustration is what we will likely go through if/when the playoffs come around. Might want to get used to it.
