This seems weird about the nets

i noticed something weird. even thought nets lost some games they seem to be playing better wit out jefferson. i know it sounds crazy. the ball has been moving more and there has been more open shots. the past 3 games the nets have been playin better than they had wit jefferson. thats my opnion, whats urs?

I think that the major reason of reasons is that he Nets are playing better defense. If Jefferson were here, the team might have blown out the teams that we played. Remember also, that game after game, Carter is getting better because he is learning his role and the system. Technically, if you think about it, we did not lose Jefferson; Carter is just doing what Jefferson would do. I also think that the Nets had a reversal of desire to win. Before they were thinking "Oh, wiat till next season for a free-agent big man", but now - I do not know what pep talk Frank gave them - they seem to be thinking "Lets play the best darn bball now, and get better at the game in the process."

We also need to keep in mind that there have been many new people, also learning the system, from the start of the season. Kidd is also improving game by game because he is learning the patterns of his teamates and therefore is able to communicate better with then both defensivly and offensivly.

yea thats true but that still gives them confindence (i think i spelled that wrong

I dont think it has much to do with RJ as it does with fit. I think that Buford being a spot up shooter fits well with Carters ablity to penetrate as he did those few games where he started along side RJ before Carter came. Both Carter and Jefferson need the ball in their hands and play alot of one on one, when you have two players like that if they arent scoring continuosly then the ball movement becomes disrupted. And so does the scoring process. It takes along time for to players with the skill of Jefferson and Carter to get adjusted to one another. And they simply didnt have enuff time.

But when you throw a guy like Buford in the mix, who is going to get his points off of spotting up then it kind of simplifies things. You know who are going to be the guys who are going to dominate the ball every trip down the floor offensively Kidd & Carter. And that is it.

Also you have to figure in the Jason Kidd factor. Before Jefferson went down Kidd minutes were extremely limited. But with Jeff down Kidd has had to greatly increase his minutes. And the more you have Kidd on the floor dictating the pace and tempo in your favor, your chances of winning greatly increase. Jefferson never had a chance to play alongside a Jason Kidd playing 40 minutes a game consistently this season, like Carter has had over the past 5 or 6 games.

ya we have been playing teams that records are under 500. but we have to see what happens in the west coast trip.

I agree with Henacy, Jefferson and Carter never worked out. They do the same thing which makes each other redundant. However, that does confuse me because I would think they understand each other very well and know where to be, but I guess not. Carter's the better scorer and shooter, but Jefferson is the better defender and passer and for now, driving. I hope next season to see them playing off each other because they are tough to gaurd that should confuse the hell out of the offense.

Rodney's spotting up, but he's streaky and I do not see him as a permanent answer for a starter. I was really enthusiastic for him off the bench because he did so well then. He is a good offensive rebounder for a gaurd and I like that, but energy off the bench along with Travis is the role I'd like to see for him. As for a reliable spot up scorer, I do not know. Rodney will do well, but it won't fly for much.

I like Collins new founded aggressiveness. He gets to the line and he's been shooting will there and he's been going after boards. I could not imagine better for him. Nenad Krstic is getting better with each game and things look up. However, like I said these are against teams that we should be beating (perhaps except the Celtics). I will not say we win against Phoenix, but if we are not blown out by them, I say we did well. I stilll would prefer the Nets get a high lottery pick for this year for a bigman, but still be competitive for the rest of the year.

I agree Vince is the more complete scorer. But RJ's ablity to get to the free throw line is kind of un matched. And I think against good teams that ablity is really going to be missed. Against good teams we have a tendancy to go into long periods with scoring. With Rj on the court he gets team into the penalty early in the quarter, alot of times. Anyway, I cant wait till next year when Carter and RJ have training camp etc to get use to each other.

JC still is having alot of trouble finishing easy plays down low. But I give him some credit , he uses his body somewhat better going up under the basket, which is allowing him to get to the line more.

I did said that RJ's driving is better for now. Vince can be better, but obviously, he does settle for a jumpshot or spins away from contact.
