This so called Three-Team Trade

Hello everyone,

I've been reading this forums for quite sometime and finally decided to sign up and join all this talk.

I just want to clear something up for those who are excited about this speculated trade.

Well for one Jerry Stackhouse's contract does not expire, he just started his new 3 year contract which he signed last ofseason. His salary for this season is 6.75M and expect it to rise for the the 2008-2009 season and 2009-2010 season....No player or team option, contract is fully guranteed.

Now for the players were are goin to get

1. Jarret Jack - is nothing more then a average starter or good back up cheap still on his rookie contract

2. Channing Frye - showed some promise his rookie year, has been inconsistent for the past year and a half, has basically identical game to Nenad, maybe slightly more athletic now that Nenad had that ACL tear

3. Travis Outlaw - showing some promise this year, also very young, but he him playing for us will only regress his progress, because Vince, RJ and Frank will play Antoine Wright and BOKI ahead of him.

4. Diop - him and outlaw are the two players i like for this trade....If Diop can get minutes - he is a defensive force...playing him and Sean Williams upfront is something the Nets never had. Two defensive powerhouses

5. Devean George - role player ( expires after season)

6. And they state 2 picks....both portland and dallas have great records...assuming once we trade kidd we will most likely miss the playoffs, we will have 1 lottery pick and 1 picks in the mid to late 20's....unless portland gives us their 1 first rounder and somehow misses the playoffs

Any word on what Portland's getting? For them to give up Frye, Outlaw and Jack is a lot to dump to give up, just wondering what's going their way. Dallas has to be moving something over there, Stacks making 6.75, George, 2.5, Diop 2.5, that's only 11 million. They'd have to shift another 6-7 million to Portland to make it work.

From what i read in another forum they said that Mavericks are moving Devin Harris who is making 4M this year and has a 5 year extention kicking in next year at 7.8M until 2012-2013.

But im not sure to believe.....the article on the front page Netsdaily, claimed Stackhouses contract expired after this season....but im pretty sure that was a mistake....

It's possible the last two year's on his deal are player options or team options and according the article it mentions the Nets would buy Stackhouse out of his current deal with the cash they are receiving.

I'm pretty sure the final years of Stacks contract are fully guaranteed, maybe the last year is partially guranteed (something like the Nets did with Carter)....not sure

but if we are getting the cash to buy out Stack, that means one of two things - Mavericks are sending us anywhere from 18-20 million to buy Stackhouse out because he is in his first year, and his final years add up to about 16.7M...and including half of this years salary...that would mean he is still owed roughly 20M...and i'm not sure David Stern would allow so much money being moved

and if we buy him out...his salary would still be a hit against the cap.....it wouldn't be much sense...in that case i'd rather keep him around, he is still effective player when healthy and with Collins expiring after 2008-2009, it wont be a big deal, since stack would expire a year after.

and also if you think about it....he will be very valuable at the Feb trade deadline of 2009-2010 season, we would be able to use him as a salary dump then.

Channing really has being playing well since getting out of New York and has openly said it. Imagine how well he'd play against them on their rival team.

how ? they'd still have James Jones, they'd get Boki and Devin Harris who fall into a system, everyone knows that team is ran by Brandon Roy and LA, no offense but Webster can be replaced although I agree maybe he won't be in the deal, Outlaw is an off the ball player who can be replaced. How are the Portland TrailBlazers killed here ?

Portland wants Harris that's why they believe he can compliment Roy

or a player like Devean George, im sure he would want at least 90% since he has only 1 year and its not that high of an amount....the agent and player also take it how much they want in a buy-out depending on how difficult it will be to land another job and for how much.

I think Marcus has more long term potential than Jack, although Jack's the better player now. Getting Outlaw would be awesome; I love his athleticism and developing jumpshot.

Plus getting Diop would be solid. All in all it sounds like a pretty ideal scenario although I'd like to dump some filler players and add a draft pick or two.

I agree with you 100% percent on Jack, he is nothing more then a average starter and a good back up, Outlaw has some promise, and potential he is only 22...Diop is nice to have on the bench behind Kristic...but the draft picks we will get from both portland and dallas wont be any good...if both make the postseason...the draft picks will be not lower then mid 20's

I seriously don't see Outlaw being traded unless someone takes on Miles contract.

Webster, Jack and 1st round pick makes more sense in my opinion.
Boki means nothing to Portland unless someone takes Miles back too (and then only because of his expiring)

Portland would be getting devin harris, but I don't know what else is in it for them.

jack is a very good PG, he controls noffense, has improved his 3 pt shot and can defend. he's a halfcourt PG, although that is still learning how to run a fastbreak.

Jack is not a good PG. He is a SG in a PG's body. He's a turnover waiting to happen in the open court.

Outlaw is the best part of this trade for the Nets. He can be as good as he wants to be. The lift he gets on his jumper is incredible, and when he goes to the hole, he's there in like a blink with quick long steps. But, my question is, he's a prototype small forward, how can he and RJ play together?

What happens to Sergio Rodriguez if this deal goes through? I know Portland was high on him eventually becoming the starter at one point. Devin Harris makes him expendable.

Not to mention Harris is out for 2 to 3 weeks with an injury.
