The reality is that the quality that makes this team so likable is not conducive to winning at an elite level. Simply put, this team is too nice; from the coach, to the superstar leader, to the entire roster. "Letting our play do all the talking" is cute and all, but it doesn't lend to winning especially in the playoffs.

Stotts is simply too nice. Sometimes you need your coach to get fired-up/T'd to get the refs' attention. You have to play the media game and manipulate the officiating. Jokic has been getting away with so much shit and Stotts hasn't said a word. He did comment about the blatant hit to Kanter's shoulder, but that was it. All great championship coaches (i.e. Phil Jackson, Doc Rivers, Greg Popovich, Steve Kerr) knew how to manipulate the media to get the refs attention. As much as it annoys the fans, it is a necessity.

Dame is lauded for his composure and calmness, but I feel he needs to go at the refs to get their attention. He has been getting hit all series with no calls. You need a T to wake up the refs.

I like peanut butter...do you swim?

Chunky is my preference... Not very well due to the fact I fear of drowning after my drunk uncle threw me overboard of his boat when I was two years old. My dad had to save me.

How about you?

It's not being a dick, it's being strategic. It's not a coincidence that the coaches that have won championships have utilized this strategy.
Stotts will be the coach who wins without that strategy. This series ain't over. Even champion Warriors trailed 2-3 in a series last season.

Cause being a dick not only determines how competitive you are but how successful you'll be at basketball.

Joke-dick is a dick - Mo Lucas was a hard-ass who stood up for his team-mates. Which do you think the OP is advocating for? Right now, I would trade half the roster for a Mo, a Kermit, or a Rick Mahorn!

This is not true.

Sure there are the bad boys and the bulls teams were kinda tough guys( taught to them by the og bad boys)

But one of the biggest dynasties ever had the most passive superstar the league has seen.

Tim duncan.

The spurs were never bad boys. David robinson still one of the nicest guys in nba history.

That was offset by Greg Popovich

Don’t worry, Zach will be the enforcer on this team sooner rather than later.

And Nurk should help too.

I actually agree with this criticism. You absolutely must play with an edge, a chip on your shoulder, and have to be willing to lay the hammer when needed. I think a team can be “too nice”.
It felt like they played with that chip on their shoulder vs OKC and havent yet in this series. Maybe game 5 will give em some fight?

I'd play Meyers and Zach together. Things would get chippy and the refs would definitely call them both for ticky tack crap they'd never call on Denver, and they'd call them both for non fouls and fouls that were actually on the Nugglets, but it would set a tone and hopefully the rest of the team would up their intensity level.

That's what I want. I want chippy. I want Dame to get fired up. I want Meyers and fatboi to get into a fight and both of them to get thrown out. I have been saying we should play Meyers for a while. He gets under people's skin, and he always played Boogie really well.

This is another reason we really miss Nurkic. He is definitely the Designated Team Asshole, and there's nobody he likes shitting on more than Denver.

Anyway, I think the real issue is that Denver has recovered completely from the 4OT game, and Portland just hasn't. CJ had just 12 points in game 5, and Dame a pedestrian (by his standards) 22. In game 4 everyone but Dame/CJ seemed a step slow.

Dame is shooting 25% from three in the series. Aminu is suddenly completely worthless. *sigh*

This right here. My Dad has said over and over- we are missing just one piece. That enforcer. Who is our Maurice Lucas? Who's gonna be our Bill Laimbeer? Meyers could do it, right now. He has to. Sure, hopefully Nurk can next year. We NEED that bad ass on the court. He can still go kiss babies, and hug fans, off the court.....
