Spork. The Blazers value versatility.
They should look into Splades from New Zealand.

Spork. The Blazers value versatility.
I have a friend that is a scout for another team. I think it was MickZagger who dubbed him pizza guy because he refuses to believe someone could actually know a person that works for a team. I decided to name him Randy Bodek after the character in Loverboy because he was a pizza delivery guy.
So we now know more about the Pizza Guy than we know about the maybe deal coming soon?
I don't think they have a specific deal in mind, but want to have assets ready when the right one comes along. That way they will be ready to pull the trigger at any time in the next three or so years. My guess is that nothing will happen this season, but after next season (when they likely get another good draft pick), I think they will start pushing harder to see what they can get.
I would say we're targeting someone like Iggy, but I don't think we have the assets that would match up the numbers.

Assets
Freeland
Claver
Matthews
Smith
Babbitt
Williams
Barton
Hickson
Three 2nd round picks
One highly touted Greek
One sorta kinda touted Greek
3.5 TPE from Felton
We have assets to deal
How is Hickson an asset? Any team in the league could’ve signed him but he had no interest.
I guess my definition of asset is different than other fans. I consider an asset something that could bring back at the least a late first round pick in a trade. Everything else is just random parts of the roster. If you consider all 12 of those random parts assets then by that definition 80% of the players in the league could be categorized as “assets”.
So Hickson, putting up similar numbers as last year for Portland on an expiring deal with Bird rights wouldn't bring back a late first for a play off team?
I have a feeling he won't be putting up numbers like that with Aldridge back. He was essentially playing the role of Aldridge when LMA went down with the hip thing.

It blows my mind that we gain one win, and they lose five.
I think it has more to do with the players other than Matthews aren't really going to get significant burn on our team; so basically it would be Iggy vs. Matthews addition equals our win total. Then on the flip side, Iggs was a very significant asset to the success to Philly; which would hit them harder (being that Matthews would be getting significant minutes at SG). But in reality, who fucking knows... I maybe talking out of my ass.
I don't know man, he was balling even with Aldridge on the floor with him. I remembered some epic rebounding games with Aldridge in the rotation.

If Hickson averages half what he did for Portland last year, at 23 years old on an expiring deal with Bird rights, he will be in demand. His PER and most everything else has gone up each year, with the exception of SAC. There is no reason to think that if he got 25 minutes a night that he wouldn't put up close to 10/6.

His current value is technically nothing since he can't be traded right nowThat’s a hypothetical situation irrelevant to his value today. The market judged his value as less than a 1 year MLE deal, so that is his current value. If he performs better than expected his value could go up, but if he struggles it could go down.
If Nolan Smith is putting up Chris Paul numbers he'll be worth a fortune. Neither scenario effects the players value right now.
The one player I was completely dissapointed with was Flynn. I had high hopes that he would turn things around. I guess that's why he didn't find a home in PDX and is having a tough time getting anything of significances this summer. I look back at that deal as a complete waste. I know Camby was on the out; but we should have at least requested a draft pick or something.
