Thoughts, prayers, and hate

The point Rasheedfan is trying to make is that by rejecting all the "thoughts and prayers" coming from the "Republicans" (including those who would never have anything to do with this ridiculous bill because that hatred is contrary to that person's personal Christian beliefs) she is stereotyping.

Right, and I don't think that's what she was saying, as I pointed out--her comments seemed directed to the lawmakers pushing this bill. But arguing over what she was saying seems pointless. She can clarify or not, as she chooses. I just don't agree with the initial contention that she's super bigoted towards Christians or that her initial post was hostile to all Christians.

>>> I don't think any church "deny" marriage to Gay people. Marriage is a convenient between a man and a woman in the eyes of their God.
That is the definition of the word and the word does not apply to another union or partnership.

>>> It has no point for you, no doubt. Not true for everyone, so your opinion is really has no point beyond yourself.

>>> Geez man! No amount of money tythed will get you or anyone else salvation. I don't even try.

>>> I can buy fuel with the taxed exempted for off the road use. But the minister pays that road tax just like you an me to use it on the road.

To me there is no difference between people giving money to thier Church and people joining together in a 501 corporation. MY home owners association is a 501c thing, no tax paid on the monies collected to maintain the common roads. People do the same thing to maintain their church. Putting a tax on it would have been a gross violation to call that income. That is the sort of discrimination you apply when you want something to go away. Like taxing employers for providing healthcare to retirees.
When you think of all the things a church does with the monies they collect, it makes your weak point above about religion should go away utterly ridiculous. Many schools run by churches are far better than the public schools, no question. I could add much to this but not now...

Sly is off his meds today. Not much coming out right.
you have a good point many religious institutions do a lot of good with the money. look at how many people the salvation army feeds.

When 49 people were killed and 53 injured in a hate crime shooting at Latinx night at a gay club, many Republicans issued generic "thoughts and prayers" that avoided mentioning it was mostly gay people killed, in some cases avoided mentioning how they were killed, they just generically died. Apparently even the generic "thoughts and prayers" were too much compassion.

So on the one month anniversary of the massacre in Orlando, the House is holding hearings on the most wide ranging antigay bill in the nation's history. Based on the Mississippi law (the most extreme of the approximately 150 antigay laws proposed/passed in the last year), a law already ruled unconstitutional, the bill allows anyone working for a private company, government department, or nonprofit to refuse goods and services to anyone based on their sexual orientation, gender identity, or having had sexual relations outside marriage. It would overturn laws like Family Leave Act by prohibiting a person time off to care for a critically ill same-sex spouse. If an unmarried pregnant woman goes into premature labor and heads to the emergency room, she could be denied admittance - got any mangers handy? It would prohibit transgender people from using public facilities. (Apparently cops would be stationed to check our DNA; party of small government!)

This bill has zero chance of becoming law. In the unlikely event both houses of Congress pass it, President Obama would veto it. In the even more unlikely event of a successful override, the equivalent state bill was ruled unconstitutional on two grounds: 1) it was clearly designed to discriminate; 2) it establishes a religion by saying people of some religious beliefs can avoid performing essential functions of their job, which people of different beliefs are obligated to perform. In the very unlikely event that Trump (who has endorsed the bill but still says "the gays" love him) is elected President with large enough majorities to get this through the House and Senate, he would need to replace three Supreme Court justices.

Sometimes legislators introduce bills with no chance of passing in order to make a political point they consider important. In this case, to show the world how much they hate gay and trans people. And women who have sex.

I guess the reason their "thoughts and prayers" were so generic was that they were actually praying for all of us to be murdered. FUCK their prayers.

And the democrats will continue to roll out the red carpet for the muslim immigrants that want to kill homosexuals, and liberals will continue to deny that Islam has a major hate/violence problem, particuarly against homosexuals. Why is it even important to you that they mention they were gay?

I think she's addressed that a few times earlier in the thread. As I understand it, intentionally omitting the very aspect of their ontology that led to them being targeted for execution ignores the difficulties that segment of the population still faces.

Yes, it's tragic that 53 people were killed, regardless of the reason, because all lives have value. On top of that, it's also deplorable that 53 gay people were killed specifically for being gay, because it's wrong to persecute people for their sexual orientation.

To only focus on the fact that people were killed, or even more, to focus the discussion on gun control or Islamic extremism, is to pull the focus away from the continuing struggle by the gay community for universal acceptance.

There's no point in mentioning their homosexuality without mentioning the fact that they were targeted for their homosexuality BECAUSE of Islam. An imam in Orlando was actually recorded the week prior calling for homosexuals to be put to death. And why wasn't this reported? And why do liberal homosexuals rush to the defense of the religion that wants them put to death. That's the real issue.

On the other hand the apparent alternative for the shooter was Disney World. So mass killing of infidels was the apparent goal. Gay's might have made it a two bagger, but not the only driver.

Can't they both be "the real issue" without one being minimized in favor of the other?

On the two-month anniversary an antigay rally is planned in Orlando. Because of course.

Organized by Kim Davis, who refused to do her job and became a Christian martyr, the speakers include Mat Staver of Liberty Counsel (which provides attorneys to antigay activists). Mr. Staver equates gay rights to legalizing rape and child molestation, compares gays to terrorists, and says gay rights will lead to "civil war". Staver claims that children are being forced to be gay (by whom?) and his wife says she carries a handgun into public restrooms to shoot any transwomen she may identify (how she can tell I don't know). Mr. Staver denounced memorials for the victims of the Orlando massacre

Also speaking, David Lake, who believes gay rights will lead to "utter destruction" of the country and blames gay rights for car bombs. David Barton, self-proclaimed historian, who alleges god is preventing scientists from curing AIDS to punish gays (although the majority of people with AIDS in the world are straight) and calls for the government to register gays. Pastor Ken Graves who claims that all gay people are mentally ill. Bill Federer, who says gays are bringing about the Islamist takeover of America.

And Florida Senator Marco Rubio.

Instead of worrying about these morons, find out who is pushing their buttons.

This shit is why people cry when they talk about Hillary or Bernie losing. It's a diversion from what they're all doing to us collectively. Useful idiots is the term I'm going for

I can't hear it but the Kelly file or whatever that cute blonde bimbo's show is called is on at the gym. They showed a pic of that Muslim dude and his wife that were speakers at the DNC.

Made it look scary whatever it is they're crying about.

Something wrong here! A straight man has a better chance of being struck by lightening than catch aids from a drug free woman.
A condom improves those odds.

Really? Condoms attract lightning strikes?

Hey, just in time for dviss to show up I just happened to go to a Korn concert tonight.

All the Republican gay haters and racists should check out this demographic. Holy shit I felt ashamed.

I can decide who to worry about, thank you.

This is not the Phelps cult. These are people who get regular appearances on CNN and write op-eds in the Washington Post. They get referred to as "authorities". The attorneys for Liberty Project argue cases before the U.S. Supreme Court. What they are proposing in this rally is pretty much identical to the bill the Republican majority proposed in Congress on the one-month anniversary, and to the party platform. They are the ones pushing the buttons.

There are interesting historical reasons that I won't go into here for why HIV in the West affected mostly gay men. But it was nothing inherent in being gay, just a confluence of circumstances. In Asia and Africa HIV is mostly heterosexual. And among African-Americans it is far more hetero than it is among white males. An equal opportunity virus.

So I guess god also hates straight Africans and won't allow a cure.

Nothing inherent in being gay? Ha, where did they rewrite history to make that seem logical?

There being more straight people with HIV doesn't make vaginal intercourse as risky as anal intercourse.

Either way, keep on focusing on this while they pull the rug out from under all of us.

Something big is probably going on today, I know because Ms. Teen something used the n word on twitter a couple of years ago. We probably killed a bus full of children and nuns with a drone somewhere.

After posting this I thought I'd start a thread about the major headlines on the major news outlet websites to prove how stupid we are. I just went to CNN.com for the first time in forever.

The first headline was that some Jeb Bush advisor is leaving the GOP and will vote for Clinton if the race is close in Florida.

YOU CAN'T MAKE THIS SHIT UP
