Can’t wait to see him draining shots from the logo in elementary school.

Blazers 2040 first round pick - Dame Jr.
Teams lose out on draft picks that they think are near-guaranteed all the time.
Memphis was sure they were getting the Lakers 2022 pick from the Pelicans.
Not! Since the Lakers finished in the bottom 10, the Grizzles don't even get a first round pick at all. They get a 2022 2nd round pick (Cleveland cavaliers) and a 2025 2nd round pick (Pelicans). What an idiot GM Memphis must have.
Indiana is getting a 1st round pick from Cleveland in the Caris Levert trade. Not!
Not this year at least. Indiana will get Cleveland's first-round pick next year IF Cleveland makes the playoffs.
What happens if Cleveland doesn't make the playoffs next season? No first round pick for Indiana. Instead they get a 2025 2nd round pick and a 2026 2nd round pick.
Cronin may not have got the best 2nd option if we didn't get the Pelicans 2022 1st round pick, but it's better than what the Grizzlies got as a 2nd option and I also think a better bet than hoping Cleveland will make the playoffs next season. The eastern conference is going to be tough against next season.
Let's say we wanted to do a couple things immediately at the trade deadline - trade CJ and his salary, and remove players who were overpaid/underperforming and/or didn't fit.
And add some players who fit our new culture.
And tank to get a top 10 draft pick.
As if George Patton were GM. "A good plan violently executed now is better than a perfect plan executed next week."
I am happy with the violently executed plan to move past the Olshey era. I definitely think we got a good result. I am glad we didn't wait for the perfect plan.

I don’t know who in the hell you think you are, but this doesn’t fit the narrative for a lot of fans.Teams lose out on draft picks that they think are near-guaranteed all the time.

Negative vibes. Plenty of threads for that. Go join the unhappy crowd.I don’t know who in the hell you think you are, but this doesn’t fit the narrative for a lot of fans.
Do better
Of course not. No one who is being honest with themself thought thatEveryone's entitled to their own narrative.
The fact is, nobody expected the Lakers AND the Clippers to miss the playoffs this season.
Did you?
Yep. Waiting for the perfect plan is what Olshey would have done.Let's say we wanted to do a couple things immediately at the trade deadline - trade CJ and his salary, and remove players who were overpaid/underperforming and/or didn't fit.

I think overvaluing your players is a terrible attribute for a GM but if a GM is seen as being prone to just pull the trigger to get a deal done... even if they were just doing so situationally then getting the most out of competing GMs in the future might be really hard given what those moves may have done to the reputation of a GM who only has those moves on his resume. In keeping with the thread though, let's hope we have a new GM or Cronin can overcome that if it's even a thing.Yep. Waiting for the perfect plan is what Olshey would have done.
Completely agree with the whole post. No joke. I'm just hoping it was a situational thing he had to make the best of.I think overvaluing your players is a terrible attribute for a GM but if a GM is seen as being prone to just pull the trigger to get a deal done... even if they were just doing so situationally then getting the most out of competing GMs in the future might be really hard given what those moves may have done to the reputation of a GM who only has those moves on his resume. I guess we'll see really soon. The Vulcans are a real fucking mess if they just leave the interim tag on Joe through the draft and expect him to have the same leverage in negotiations as he would have as a signed GM. They also can't expect free agents to feel like they're signing onto a solid situation if they leave the interim tag on. So we better find out really really soon if you're right or they're going another way.Completely agree with the whole post. No joke. I'm just hoping it was a situational thing he had to make the best of.
Unfortunately I think that's the best case scenario right now...
I think it's pretty fundamental in this day and age to create "positive vibes" by recognizing negative situations you're not a part of and once recognized post about somehow, somewhere.I do find it a little ironic that "positive vibes" in this case means open season on former Blazers. Not that the comments about Olshey and the players are wrong.
I don't see any comments in this thread trashing former players or dwelling on Olshey. Just that they weren't a good fit moving forward for one reason or another.I do find it a little ironic that "positive vibes" in this case means open season on former Blazers. Not that the comments about Olshey and the players are wrong.
Wasn't my intention to trash on Olshey, just compare styles.I do find it a little ironic that "positive vibes" in this case means open season on former Blazers. Not that the comments about Olshey and the players are wrong.
