If you watch the replay of durant watching the big screen he gives a sheepish smile and turns away quickly as do all the other thunder players. They knew it was a block. How did foster make that call from half court????? WHere was the rookie offical? was he on the sideline or something. Thats he type of play that needs to be review. WHy can't it be reviewed?

I think the rationale is that, if it is overturned from a goaltend, it would be a live-ball situation and they can't just jump it up.

Just got home......Busy night talking with the refs in the TV truck. Showing them multiple replays.......

A few thoughts...

-Nic should be starting at the 2 over Wes
-We hung with arguably the best team in the league tonight without a true PG on the floor
-We got killed on the boards....Westbrook just attacks the offensive glass
-Andre Miller would have handled those fast breaks to perfection
-The goaltending called on LA was way too close to call. Not reviewable regardless.
-Westbrook block on Nic was amazing!
-LA looked great for the 2nd consecutive night on national tv, great for his all-star push
-We have a pool at work and I said we'd lose by 5.....
-Not that you need to be told this, but this game shows exactly how much we miss Brandon. A player who can create his own shot off the dribble and have enough respect from the refs to get the whistle.
-Tough loss

Serious question for you guys. Would we be better with Steve Blake? Assume he replaces Felton.

Hmmm...Blake won't hurt his team like Felton does, but he also won't save us either. And I don't know what happened to his 3 point shooting since he left the Blazers, it's been on a decline ever since that year he was traded to the Clilps.

But if we bring him back, maybe he'll find his shot again since he's had his best shooting years in Portland. Of course, this may have been because of all the defensive attention directed at Roy. We don't have Roy anymore, but now have LaMonster.

My answer would be yes, overall Blake may not be as good as Felton (the usual Felton, not the loser Felton this year), but he is a better fit.

I don't know. Felton is stronger, which should help inside, and is supposed to be the better shooter. The shooting reputation, whether or not true, makes the opponents use up attention on him. Blake had the same false reputation for his 3 point shooting which got him more defensive attention than he deserved.

Blake was the perfect PG to play alongside Roy!

Just finished watching the replay.

Haven't read the thread, only this page.

Too much focus on one bad call by the refs, and not enough on all the other bullshit superstar calls OKC got.

But hey, that's the NBA; you don't just have to beat the other team, you also have to beat the refs/league/ESPN.

If they realized they messed up, why not send Batum to the line at the end of the game as a makeup call?

That would be replacing shit with shit. Plus he has that Laker stink on him now, too. What a testament to the state of the franchise that we are sitting here arguing over Raymond Felton and Steve Blake for starting point guard. Just dissolve the team now.

Great post. True stuff.

How was that close? It was clear as day!

Too close to call, and therefore should never have been called. I don't care what the scoreboard says -- in my book we have beaten the Thunder twice this season. Of course, all kinds of crazy things happen in my book, so who knows.

J.A. Adande @jadande
That was a bad call on the goaltend. But I didn't hear Blazer fans complaining on the illegal screen call that cost OKC ball on prev. poss.
Um...maybe that's because it was a good call?

Sadly no, Blake sucks worse than Felton. He's always been terrible at feeding the post. He just can't seem to make a good entry pass. He's like the anti-Stockton. Remember Aldridge's comments about how much he'll miss Andre Miller? You never heard him say anything about missing Steve Blake. Blake was to Roy what Miller was to Aldridge. Without all-NBA level Roy, Blake would be a huge step backwards.

He also sucks at trying to run a fast break. And he's not even good at the one thing he used to do well - shoot 3-pointers (0.354 3FG%).

Batum's last drive to the basket in regulation

That's a play where it's open. You can't finesse that ball. You've got to dunk it. If you finesse it, you give the officials a chance to let play go. If you go in there and you dunk it or attempt to dunk it, especially when you have an open drive like that, you put the pressure on the officials to make the call. You have to power that. I've talked to Nic about that. You can't go in and get small. I thought he went in and got small and I don't know if it was Durant who had the block but clear lane, good execution, you have to finish it.

Totally forgot about that. Nic had the chance to win the game and once again showed his passive side

I fear he just doesn't have "it". Gerald Wallace needs to teach him how to get it or something. Prime Gerald is relentless.

Your shit is getting old. Guy was a 29th pick, he's 22 years old. He's a year older then Elliot, Luke and Nolan. Lighten up.

Btw he's 23 and it's his 4th year in the league. The young thing is only an excuse for so long.

Batum needs to teach Wallace how to score some points on the road. Wallace was balling out of control last night with that 4 points.

Nice try again though, little smokey.

You're such a homer it's pointless

You're mad that I like to support my favorite team and not always have a negative outlook on everything? You sound like a Laker fan.

What part of......." Guy was a 29th pick, he's 22 years old. He's a year older then Elliot, Luke and Nolan." is being a homer?

When Gerald was 23 he was averaging 2.5stls/G and 2blks/G. That's called being relentless.

Another failed attempt by you.

And HCP, keep your homer posts to yourself

What does that have to do with what Gerald Wallace does now? We all wish we could go back in a time machine and have the Wallace of 6 years ago. Not happening.

Meanwhile, keep discrediting Batum for good games because you don't feel they should count...

lol troll.

My god.

It has nothing to do with Gerald now (although he still shows the same relentlessness, just doesn't produce like his better years). It's about Gerlad's mindset and how he plays the game. Batum needs to learn that relentless mindset from Gerald.

Fuck

This never happened, nice try. Terrible attempt by you, but I've come to expect that.

So you want to keep riding Gerald into the future when we have a better player in Batum waiting in the wings? You've failed so hard in this thread its almost at a point where I pity you.

...And yes, you did do that. You brought up Batum's stats and said if you take away the games where he did really well. Well guess what little guy, those count.
