RHP - Nathan Eovaldi (14-3, 4.20)

VS.

RHP - Mike Fiers (7-10, 3.69)

Lineups to follow......

NOTE: On Tuesday Didi Gregorius became only the third Yankee shortstop to homer on opening day following Bucky Dent (1981) and Derek Jeter (1996,1999 & 2002)

I know we've got about 4 hours until game time but its pouring here in New York.

It's supposed to continue raining with
thunderstorms through 7PM. Game could
be called. And guess what?

We are expected to get some snow on Saturday!!!!!!!!
Crazeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

The Northeast weather this time of year always is ridiculous. When I used to go to a lot of games and I had the Saturday plan I usually preferred not going to the beginning of the year games. Always cold and not enjoyable. A week or so ago we're getting 80 degree days. Now we won't crack 50 for ten days and they're talking snow.

Tomorrow we go to Detroit for a rare Friday afternoon game, hopefully the weather is better there.

Today's starting lineup is the same as yesterday's...............

CF - Ellsbury
LF - Gardner
DH - A-Rod
1B - Teixeira
C - McCann
RF - Beltran
3B - Headley
2B - Castro
SS - Gregorius

2:15 PM and very heavy rains falling, no way this game gets played today.

3:PM weather update. The rain has stopped & it actually looks like the sun is trying to break through but it is very windy. Stay tuned.

Ya'll don't think they can get in a 7-8pm game???

The Northeast, and North-Midwest to West has been much colder than norm the last few years, especially last year, when numer areas, got more snowpack, more days below Zero, and below Freezing 32 deg's, than any year on record, breaking some old 1910s decade of freezing temps....

IF MLB is going to continue beginning their season on April 1st, and begin extended Playoffs thru October, were begging for a Snow Out World Series, even LCS Series, one year; and I don't care for Domed Stadiums....

Several MLB games & cities over the Years, have been snowed out.... ie, NYY and NYM's, Colorado, Cleveland, Detroit, with the Cubs playing a few games over the years in snow flurries.

other Teams would of had "snow outs" in years past, had they not of had Domed Stadiums, ie earlier Twinkies, Brewers, Seattle, ....

I'd like to see either:

1- Lose the WC-WC 1 game set-
2- Start the Season on the 2nd Monday of April-
3- Play more double-headers, even with 154 game schedule, and even more if the League remains with a 162 game schedule.(But not 19 Double-headers as was customary for the 60s; that is too many Double-headers, or is it?) Only the players could say for sure....?

In 1961 The Yanx first game of the Season was April 11th, with 22 double-headers, (way too many DH's imo), with 3 of those DH's make up games, due to in-climate weather....

If I am not mistaken that this game, final game
of only trip to NY, is up to the umpires to call.

Close to game time & the sun has broken through.

The game will be starting in a few minutes. YIPEE!!

Back to back HRs by the Stros & the Yankees trail 3-0 in the 2nd.

Did anyone see constant sweat dripping from McCann's Chin/Neck guard, last inning. You could clock seconds by 'em.

Nice hack 'gimme' hit by Tex, take 'em anyway ya' can...

Eovaldi throws way too many pitches, mostly due to a lot of foul balls...a lot to too many hitters...

Where is a flat out nasty Out Pitch, with a 2 strike count, ...? Being hit for fouls...?

Can't judge Eovaldi's season and the rest of his career on his first 2016 start but if I were the Yanks, I would be very concerned if he continued having the same problems he's had throughout his career.
Time for him to begin figuring it out improving his command and ability put away batters.

Only speaking of what I'm seeing in front of my eyes, this moment...

Who said Eovaldi seldom gives up HRs?
Two outs and two strikes, Stros hit 2 HRs
and not by Springer or Correa.

perfect pitch for Ellsbury to drive it, nice to see him hitting the gap...

had he of missed that low middle of the plate pitch, I'd think he was off...

This Team needs Jacoby, and others to have good years, step up their games...do what there all capable of......I don't think that applies to CC tho', ....

I'm really hoping for a big year by him hitting & running.

And maybe it's time to reconsider always batting Gardner 2nd?
What is this infatuation? Because he runs fast? So far he appears to be evolving into a .258 hitter, .335 OBP with 134 Ks (last 2 season avg)
Now watch him get two hits today , lol

I like Gardy, don't mean to pick on him but he can survive batting in the lower part of lineup a couple/few times this season.

If DiDi continues from last year and does well vs RHP, why not use him in the 2 slot a few times when a RHP is starting?....or Castro a few times?.....or someone else?
Give it a different look/shakeup sometimes. For crissakes.

Castro hit that one like a bomb, or- like how he dreamed he might do one day, as a kid in de Bronx....nice shot...!

The Boy definitely likes playing at Home...

Arod ties it at 5-5 with a solid single up the middle. Nice quick comeback so lets not blow it again.

Castro is just on fire now. And Ellsbury is off to a solid start also.

Ellsbury is looking feisty good today, stretching 2. I didn't expect Jacoby to try and take 3rd on Gardner's sacrifice hard hit right to Springer when Springer is known to have a rifle arm. But, we sure didn't see a rifle arm today, just a weak throw. Kudos to Ells for taking 3rd, and scoring on #13's ribbie.

Alex looked like he couldn't catch up to the fastball, then surprise surprise, put the ball right where Alex was swinging to begin with, ... SP 101 error...

Stros SP's are not what they were last year. They've blown some trades IMO...
