Game Thread Thursday 4/7/16 Astros @ Yankees 4:05PM

Welcome to our community

Be a part of something great, join today!

Opposite field 3 run Tex message makes it 8-5.

You gotta love, Tex also off to a good start.

Tex showed last year he still has something left and was having a very good season before the quirky broken leg on a foul tip.
I would expect him to continue to have "something left" but after the wrist injury couple yrs ago and last year's injury, I kinda also wouldn't be surprised if he got banged up again - surely hope not and would love to see him finish up his Yankee career (contract) with a flourish.

Its going to be real interesting to see what the Yankees do with Tex if he ends up having a super year. What if 35/110/270? First off if he does end up with numbers close to that you know he'll be looking for at least 3 years, in which case I'd trust our future with Bird. Which honestly I'd do anyway.

Yeah, its been real but its time to go. Its Bird time.

Very solid way to open the season. You have to be very happy with the lineup. If they stay healthy they can give teams fits. On the flip side the pitching hasn't been great but it's early and cold so I'm not going to go crazy about it now.

2/3 from Houston - fine and dandy.
Yanks' SP shaky but so was Houston's....and the Yanks bullpen (as teams are going to find out) have one of the very best deepest bullpens in MLB.

A bit anxious to see what this kid reliever (23 yrs old) Barbato can give them - does have low hit/strikeout "stuff".
In five minor league seasons A-AAA ages 18-22 only once has he allowed more H than IP (by two) in his first minor league season -
- and only once had more IP than K's (by five).
He struck out all three batters in his ML debut in the first game.

Has
walked way too many batters in his minor league "career".
I guess every player and team has an "if" attached to them.
If this kid can grab a hold of his control I think he'll be a pleasant surprise and help hold down those early relief innings.
Yanks just might be able to win a bunch of games when their SP goes only 5-6 innings.

I am now taking off my homerific sunglasses.

th

Kind of surprised Miller wasn't even wearing any wrap/tape etc; on his injured wrist glove hand. True to His word, "I will be fine"...

More surprised that he slapped gloves with McCann after the last pitch. He's obviously not babying it either. Tough guy.

...tempered enthusiasm, especially based on 3 games.

...On one hand, the Yanx are on target to hit 380 HRs with a team BA of 3.14 and a team OPS of .962 ...that won't last long...on the other hand, I surely expect the team ERA of 4.33 to improve somewhat. (conversely, Houston's has a team ERA 9.36 after just 3 games, which needless to say, will also greatly improve)

...again, a 3 game sample doesn't really tell us much.

Thank goodness for a voice of reason....I was almost convinced the Yanks were going to hit 380 HRs this year and Houston was going to finish with a 9.36 ERA....whew, glad we were all brought back to earth by the voice of reason.

Like Joe Pesci's character in My Cousin Vinny said. I'm enjoying myself so far.

...you're quite welcome.

...wait till after a win to respond to a post that was made a day and a half ago?....spiffy.

I was wondering why someone was responding TODAY to a game that was played TWO days ago.

...^^^some things are so obvious that they don't really need explaining.

Yep - and for some strange reason, you seem to consistently lean towards the negative....re: the Yanks - CASHMAN.

Dig yourself man - and stop trying to defend a position where CASHMAN and THE STEINS are always wrong.

New season, and the last time I checked the Yanks (with the 4th best 2015 record in this league) are trying to improve on a season where they lost the (1) WC playoff game to a team which won LESS games than they did....thanks to Keuchel who had a career year and also quirkily stymied the Yanks allowing (1?) ER in #3 reg season starts.
Yanks took 4/7 and 4/6 LAST YEAR from the two 2015 WS teams AND HAVE JUST TOOK 2/3 from HOUSTON THIS YEAR...
Lol

My opinion, the 2016 YANKS will be just as competitive for a ticket to the WS tournament as ANY team and IN MY OPINION Yankee fans, or any OTHER fans just don't need any sour grapes during the first week of this season.

Last but not least, speaking as a long time Yankee fan-
..... fuk the Dodgers and Giants!

...lol...like I said, "some things are so obvious that they don't really need explaining". ..and for vainly attempting to do so, I award you no points.

...no goddamnit...you go straight to your room.

...evidently if/when the Yanx are eliminated and no longer in the WS sweepstakes we're supposed to stop watching Baseball completely, bury our heads in the sand and simply wait for the next season. Nobody tells me what player or team I can appreciate or when I may do so.

Nope, I never said as much - please enjoy yourself * and I also watch other MLB teams regular season and postseason.
And of course I know you'll agree with my right to fuk "da bums" and the SF Giants.

...^^^ uhhh, yes, actually you did...after Rick, who is also a fan of the Giants, noted that MadBum had smacked a HR, you felt the need to post this;

"By the way- this Yankee fan doesn't give a rat's ass about a Baumgarter - Kershaw matchup.
Sorry but....April 9th baseball has me focused of MY Yankees.

I only have ONE TEAM!

GO YANKS!"

...now, as per usual, try to spin it another way or back track and then claim that you didn't really mean what you really said.
