Bucks just beat the Nuggets. So, we are now tied with them for 1st place in the Northwest Division at 6-3.

Soon to be looking at them in the rear view mirror.

Go Blazers

same place as the end of last year....tie-break losers.

That's funny. You and I had simultaneous posts on this.

Mine was in the 3-in-a-row thread.

Yeah, but unlike last year when we caught them, there's a whole lot of basketball to be played.

6 days ago, they were 3 games ahead of us. They've lost 3-4 (and were within 0.1 sec of losing 4 in a row) and we've won 4 in a row.

I heard on the post game show that tonights win gives us the best nine game start to a season since 1999-2000. :ghoti:
And so many of you where all freaked out when we where 1-2. :biglaugh:

But it's just the preseason.

When CoolStandings.com updates after the last game tonight ends in an hour, it will show the expected wins as about

55.0 (.671) Portland
51.4 (.627) Denver

A 3.6 game lead. We are on track to take this thing easily. No tiebreaker necessary.

funny how they mentioned in the tv cast hwo this is the best start in like 9 years including last year. which is funny with all the bitching and ledge jumping that was going on.

edit.. crap Beer Boy already mentioned it.. fast Taco bell working M f'er he is!

It's nice to be ranked #1 in "Points Against" but I have to doubt the relevance of that statistic when I see that the Oklahoma City Thunder is ranked #2. It's too early in the season and the sample size is too small for those numbers to matter much. One or two really low-scoring games, and the whole thing is thrown.

That said, I think the Blazers and Nuggets will be close throughout the season. Denver has had a tough stretch, while the Blazers have had a favorable schedule and gotten a groove going. (By the way - what's gotten into Milwaukee? All of a sudden they're unbeatable at home!)

I think Miluakee just gives Denver fits.. like Houston to us at their place. I thought I read on the bottom of espnews that Denver has lost in Milwaukee the last handful of times.

We could so easily be 8-1. Glad to be where we are though. Only 5 teams in the league have better records than us. Only 1 game behind the champs. I'll take it.

Are the Bucks for real? How bout the Kings?

Third-best record in the conference, and No. 1 in the West in point differential. Sounds good to me so far considering the panic that was around here.

it helps to have played the Wolves twice. 6-3 is nice, but I want to see them prove it vs some of the league's better teams

Really? I didn't know that. I thought last year's team got off to that surprisingly fast start. They had more than three losses through their first 9 games last year? (Yes, I'm too lazy to look it up.)

We were 5-4 through 9 games last year, they said it was the best start since the 1999-2000 WCF team, and best road start (3-1) since that team as well.

just checked ESPN.. looks like we were 5-4 this point last year

edit: dammit either I'm too slow today or others are bad ass fast lol.

while i'm pleased with the play of late, let's all remember who we have played so far. Minny and Memphis are 3 of those wins, not exactly the toughest of teams.

uh, the "panic" was caused in part by a starting lineup that wasn't including Miller or Oden, and a plodding, isolation-based offense.

Since then, we've upped the tempo, started Miller, and gotten Greg untracked. Amazingly enough, we're winning by double digits.

No panic if the team's not losing b/c of lame-a-bility. :dunno:

Against Minny & Memphis. They're combined record is 2-15

Keep things in perspective.

Yep, we're 4-0 with a real point guard starting.

I wonder when the last time is we had a better road record than home record? (Not counting something like 1-0 vs. 0-0 after an opening night on the road.)

Should we have not beaten those teams? Yes it was against bad teams but we dominated them. We should be worried if we had not dominated them.

Let's keep things in perspective.
