I am deeply aware of the disappointment and hurt that my infidelity has caused to so many people, most of all my wife and children. I want to say again to everyone that I am profoundly sorry and that I ask forgiveness. It may not be possible to repair the damage I've done, but I want to do my best to try.

I would like to ask everyone, including my fans, the good people at my foundation, business partners, the PGA Tour, and my fellow competitors, for their understanding. What's most important now is that my family has the time, privacy, and safe haven we will need for personal healing.

After much soul searching, I have decided to take an indefinite break from professional golf. I need to focus my attention on being a better husband, father, and person.

Again, I ask for privacy for my family and I am especially grateful for all those who have offered compassion and concern during this difficult period.

Of course he is. Who wouldn't be.

He is also doing the only thing anyone serious about putting their life back together and making things right would do.

Time will tell whether he is sincere or not.

Quitting golf? I know that's the first thing I'd do if I got caught cheating.
Well, if I was married and if I played golf, that is.

I don't see how quitting his job makes him more serious about anything.

Translaton: "I'm leaving the country because my wife said so, or else."

As an side, I wonder how much he'd have to make in the future to prevent from losing 1/2 of what he's made in the past during the married years?

He's going to hide out, travel the world with his wife and family, play 36-54 holes a day and come back next year. He's taking a break from the Tour, not golf.
