In the NBA coaching only matters (to me) to make a good team better. No coach can make a crappy team good.
However, I will make a special exception for Chauncey Billups.
What we saw in the opening game at home against Golden State, looked to me that there was absolutely no coaching at all.
The Blazers running around like a team that had no plan was in big contrast to Golden State.
I think in just about every case Golden State clearly prioritized getting OPEN 3-point attempts, and plan B was going to the hoop, which was also clear.
Golden State knew how to get open 3-pointers, and knew how to bypass the Blazer defense when they went to the hoop to score.
I don't expect the Blazers to win many games, but why pay a coach to do nothing, or maybe instill negative habits, like Jerami Grant hucking up Constested Long Range 2-pointers.
