Time to light the fuse and blow this sucker up?

That would require a proactive GM. Cho is too busy crunching numbers.

:devilwink:

Not necessarily "blow it up", just trade in our bottle rocket for one that isn't broken. Even if it means we throw in our collection of m80's.

eric maynor!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

no dude 1 game under 500. with a brutal schedule in nov and dec doesnt mean blow up lol

We can certainly tweak the roster though. Can't trade Roy. Aldridge, you're prob not going to get value for him.

again... they cant blow it up.

who is gonna trade for roy or la?

who is gonna play center if you trade camby or pryz?

who is gonna play pg if you trade miller????

rudy, batum, mills, johnson are the only options or draft picks/injury exceptions

"blow it up," "retool," "shake things up," call it whatever you like, but I think it's clear that changes need to be made. The status quo aint it.

Pretty clear we need to either shut roy down or trade batum along with Dre Miller. upgrade the 1, get a backup 4...just like what we've needed for YEARS but the general management hasn't really adrressed all that well.

Wes Matthews ain't going anywhere.

get a scorer and a backup pg.... maybe someone who does both. that fixes issue.

shit thats bayless. wow cho fucked us

Starting PG is the problem. Miller is fine but he's old and doesn't mesh well with our "franchise".

Hey, at least the Blazers have an experienced GM to guide us all through the muck.

The Bayless trade was fantastic!

"blow this sucker up"

Are we talking about the GM position?

If you can get out from under his contract, you have to do it. I'd trade him for an expiring contract that never even saw playing time.

His contract isn't nasty. A replacement PF at his contract level will be worse than Aldridge is.

Why not try this: Addition by Subtraction, its got to work!

The contract length is what I'm talking about. If we can get an expiring contract for him, you do it.

We won't be able to build through Free Agency until Roy's off the books.

Trading for an expiring is extremely short sighted and reactionary. Also, without a target, its useless...we've seen what happens with imaginary cap space.

Unless big changes are made to the CBA, cap space can also be used to make lopsided trades.

Btw this team has an issue right now with Roy/Matthews/Batum.

Matthews is too good not to start and Batum is a failure off the bench. He's a glue , not a bench scorer like Outlaw was.

Obvious answer is probably Roy off the bench but that's just isn't going to happen anytime soon. I hope the team doesn't view this as a time to get rid of Batum since there's no place for him in the starting lineup where he needs to be.

Even if Roy was healthy it'd be a problem. Don't want to lose a young talent like Batum(depending on the return).

I see a future of Batum/Matthews starting at the 2/3.

The only problem is finding a way to get rid of Brandon Roy.

FML.

which we have already failed at. lopsided trades are made with Expiring Contracts.

Such as trading LaMarcus Aldridge for an expiring contract.

Play Roy at the point. Maybe he sucked at it tonight but the way I see it, getting Miller off this team and getting deeper bench is better than letting Batum rot on the bench. If Roy is as he is, he will only be effective at the 1 IMO. Better than playing shitty at the 2.

Matthews and Batum at the 2/3 is the most logical answer but doesn't seem very likely at the moment with Roy still on the team. He's going to have to be forced to give up his spot.

That said, with Matthews and Batum and the 2/3 the team better get a really damn good PG for the future. Matthews and Batum won't be creating a ton of offense for others any time soon.

What? When have the Blazers ever absorbed a player into their cap room?

I'm talking about the kind of deal that the Clippers made for Camby where all they had to do was surrender a future second round pick to Denver.
