Stotts is an easy target for some of you around here and some of it is warranted (he's not a great defensive coach) but a lot of it isnt. Who REALLY thought outside of KS that we would be this good this early? He has done a remarkable job with his groups and over the last 4 years for us. His players love him, and he maximizes their talents. We finally have harmony in the front office and when you look at the NBA landscape he is one of the better coaches out there.

No particular order

Elite
Pop
Carlisle
Kerr
Stevens

Next Tier
Joerger
Stotts
Voegl
Van Gundy
Budenholzer

Then everybody else, we could do A LOT worse than Stotts A LOT, and I'm not sure we could do much better. He deserves an extension.

Frankly Im surprised he hasnt gotten one yet.

Merely the fact that we could do worse than Stotts is not a good endorsement. He's a very middle-of-the-road, average NBA coach who could easily be replaced by 2/3rds of the other coaches out there with no meaningful change.

We're performing almost EXACTLY as the forum community expected us to (on a W/L basis). So, yay for matching expectations?

Tater Totts is a fine regular season coach who will routinely be exposed by good coaches in the Playoffs.

Stotts is a keeper...I really like the stability he's brought to the franchise..players like him, he keeps a civil locker room and I think is a guy who adapts according to matchups...he's calling timeouts more efficiently this season which was my only concern before and he's playing a deeper rotation than we've seen in ages.

Most people here had us winning 25-35 games. Vegas had us at 28.

I agree Stotts is a good coach. I just can't help that I would like Tom Thibodeau who isn't even on your list but I would put in top tier.

I really want thibbs on our bench..it's what he's built for...he's horrible with the media and pretty far from a players coach...his success as an assistant got him a championship with Doc Rivers...his grating and butting heads with Chicago's front office told me, he's not a head coach but the best defensive coordinator in the game. He just doesn't grasp the offensive end of the game that well

We won a playoff series for the first time in 14 years with stotts so obviously he couldnt be replaced by ANYONE. but ill entertain your opinion, be realistic and tell me who we could replace stotts with that would actually sign here?
Stotts isnt just the only option he's the best option.

Currently 2 games under .500, really thought we'd be here by the all star break? Please...

Chicago's front office are d bags.
I agree..but Thibbs lost his locker room too..I think he had a shot and found out, head coaching is not his skillset...ok coach, improves defense..can't put points on the scoreboard enough. If you're the best at something...defensive coordinator...why be mediocre at somethin else

There's a reason Thibodeau hasn't really been getting a sniff lately, there must be a reason for it.

The reason is he is getting paid this year to sit out. If he coaches somewhere this year he doesn't get the money from Chicago. Bet he will be with a team next year for sure.
