Tom Penn fired?

On the outside looking in, probably none of us like the decision, but there must have been a good reason.

maybe because "CAP GENIUS TOM PENN" couldn't do anything with our imaginary cap space, RLEC, etc. Maybe he was, in fact, himself, imaginary.

although sucks for anyone to get fired. i just never really bought his "cap genius abilities".

Hmm. Curious. I wonder what they were disatisfied with, and whether we'll ever really know?

Maybe he had an affair with Patty Mills and Paul Allen got pissed.

Definitely seems out of the blue.

There has to be something pretty big behind the scenes. In those positions, you don't get fired; you are allowed to resign. Hell, even Whitsitt was supposedly allowed to resign.

The cap space was real. It was his job to create it; it was KP's job to turn it into something.

It wasn't real, it was imaginary as cap space 2 years in the future has indeterminate value.

The cap space was real and tangible. The value was indeterminant and turned out to be not much. :dunno:

Most intriguing. Did he say anything on the tv show over the weekend that could have pissed someone off?

Wow. This is the first unexpected move with this team I've seen in quite some time. Considering his profile with the fans, I would hope the team is willing to offer up some sort of explanation.

Here is footage of the firing: [video=youtube;Ti53kjHsAas]

Seems rather hard to believe he'd get fired now for something he didn't do more than a year ago.

...or continued not doing. I don't think he really does anything other than crunch numbers that really did not end up working. I mean, ESPN Trade Machine could do his job?

No explanation will be given. At least, none that are true.

WTF. One week after he was leading the charge behind his charity?

We're missing something here.

I think there is a little more to it than ESPN trade machine. But, who knows. Maybe he didn't do anything but look out the window and watch porn all day.

WTF.. weird. Something must've gone really wrong behind the scenes. Tough for Penn, the guy could've been GM of the Wolves.

maybe they found out he was just food blogging all day at work?

+1

It kills me every time KP mentioned that Genius Tom figured out we got a trade exemption in the Zach deal to make the Rudy deal work. For a GM, I would think this would be common knowledge. He should have been fired after the Miles debacle.
