Tom Penn fired?

It seems kind of curious to me that Penn got the axe on the day that the Bosh rumors broke. Makes me wonder if perhaps Tom may have...said something that he shouldn't have about the Blazers' summer plans [to media, agents, or other teams].

Here's a comment after the Canzano article which like yours, is about the timing of the firing:

"I'm not exactly sure how it's connected, but the fact that he was fired on the last day season ticket holders could renew for next year makes me wonder if this was actually decided on earlier but put on hold for a while in order to avoid bad publicity and scaring of those late renewing folks who were sitting on the fence... Too coincidental for me."

I left out timing issues like that from my summary, since most sources were saying this had been building, and was not an instant firing based upon one day's events.

Well, if Mr Allen is disappointed about the development of this team maybe he needs to be looking at the coach and not KP. Unless it's KP that has rested his laurels on Nate.

Prior to the draft Greg had a lot of red-flags with his physical. His leg was 1/2" shorter than the other, the bulging disk, etc.

Now Durant is probably the 5th or 6th best player in the entire League. Hindsight 20/20 is convenient.

Even with this KP still says "we picked the right guy," REALLY?

% Blame on why the Blazers are struggling and/or not progressing like all hoped:

15% - Injuries
10% - Management (KP, all his minions)
75% - Nate McMillan

Im pretty sure everyone (including PA) wanted Oden, Hindsight is 20/20

Oden over Durant

Letting the "best trade chip in the history of the league" just expire

Blowing 3 million on Sergio

He has had some obvious hits with Roy, Aldridge and Batum, but he's not the golden boy many people here make him out to be.

Suprisingly, when you look at all his moves, he has kinda hit and missed....

Like a 50% clip.... sad

I feel KP got it right. The fact Paul Allen is questioning this makes him sound like some of these trolls. Here is what we know, KP knows basketball, Paul you know computers. Let the basketball people do their job and take your nose out of it.

If you need evidence that Oden was the right choice at the time, just ask 90 percent of the league at the time.

Allen is nice in many ways but is mickey mouse in many others. If this is true, here he goes trying to destroy himself again.

But really, PA can do whatever the fuck he wants, its his team, not mine, not yours, not KP's
:dunno:

I'm sorry, but that's just plain ridiculous. At the start of the season most predictions had the Blazers making the playoffs without any problems and probably winning a first round series. Despite all of the injuries they're still going to make the playoffs and, due to a sound roster move by KP to get Camby, they have a shot at accomplishing a first round win.

KP and Nate have done a great job this year.

This team is not progressing, individually

Players that have not improved:

LMA
Rudy
Bayless (slightly)
Webster

This team currently constructed will NEVER win a Western Conference Title, let alone an NBA championship

A great shot at a first round win? Well all-righty then! Who are we going to beat?

Nice job adding the word "great" to my post. Depending upon the matchup, I'd give the Blazers about a 30-40% chance at winning a 7 game series.

I'm not sure what you're getting at. So Tom Penn got fired due to KP's decisions? I think you are going down the wrong track.

canzano supposedly has a bomb shell about this story...gonna say it on 95.5 at 3:30 and says it will affect the blazers future

Is there any talk of a replacement for TP? I read something about POR's interest for Rich Cho (OKC's moneyball guy).

If not him, I nominate Storyteller.

Rudy had a serious injury and is just now rounding into shape. Bayless I'd say has made considerable improvement in his ability to run the team. Webster is Webster. No amount of coaching can solve head issues. LMA, if you're fair, has had a tough assignment this year with the changing lineups and lack of a center for much of the season.

Your statement regarding the chances of winning a WC or NBA title is a nice opinion. Like certain anatomy parts, everybody has one.

I bet this is gonna be classic canzano

Blazers have fired Tom Penn and are looking for a replacement

:biglaugh:

Listening to Crapzano now, he had nothing.

He's going through theories now.

Well ok, my opinion at the start of the season was that with this core the blazers will win a title because everyone was so young and could progess so much.

But no one has really done any progressing :(
