Karprelian fastball is 89-91 and occasionally gets it up to 93. throws 4 pitches. Potential according to the experts is a #3 pitcher. Sounds like a joe blanton clone. Really?? This is the best they could do with the 16th pick. Another cashman head shaker. Can't wait to see if the 30th pick is the cousin of the albany 1st rd shortstop we took years ago thats working as a bartender now.
Give Him a bit more credit than your under overs. Have any of you watched any UCLA games this year, I bet not........!!!
Kapri IS/WAS: UCLA's Ace this year, has pinpoint accuracy, a good slider, good enough curve to use as an out pitch; off speed deception, enough to keep Batter's off guard.
This kid may just be this Draft's and Yanx, "Instant Karma" -fast track, to the big leagues, from a pool of Pac-12 Talent to the Majors in 1 year?
2015***
Went 10-4 with a 2.03 ERA in 17 apperances (16 starts) for UCLA...finishes fifth all-time at UCLA in career ERA (2.06)...finishes sixth all-time at UCLA in career strikeouts (275)...earned All-Pac-12 first team honors...named a second team All-American by Collegiate Baseball...led the Pac-12 in strikeouts (114) and wins (10) over 106.2 innings...lasted at least six innings in 12 of 15 starts, including lasting seven or more innings in seven starts...
I really doubt Kapri is as bad as anyone wants to believe, or BA & MLB, have no creedence........!
Baseball America*** (19th ranked prospect):
Kaprielian knows how to finish hitters off when he’s ahead in the count, with a plus curveball as his best pitch. He can land it, vary the shape of it and bury it as a chase pitch, and his feel for the curve is his strongest attribute. He has dabbled with a slider as well but has focused on the fastball, curveball and solid-average changeup for most of the spring … In several April and May starts, his velocity improved, bumping 95 and holding 92-93 deeper into games.
MLB.com *** (22nd ranked prospect):
He didn’t have the best stuff in a U.S. collegiate national team rotation that included Louisville’s Kyle Funkhouser and Vanderbilt’s Carson Fulmer last summer, but Kaprielian did have the best “pitchability” and is the safest bet to become a mid-rotation starter in the big leagues. He works with an 89-92 mph fastball as a starter, and he’s effective at that velocity because he can locate it … Kaprielian’s best pitch is his changeup, and he also has a solid slider and a curveball to give batters a different look. With his command and strong frame, he’s built to be a starter.
paragraphs noted in Italics, courtesy of: UCLA NCAA BB, as well as Baseball America, MLB, and Bleacher reports.......as well courtesy of one, who has seen half of UCLA's Team play this year, last, and keep going another 45 yrs or more....til ye' get to Jackie Robinson........not saying Kapri can't fail, damn near 98% of Amateur drafts, just don't materialize........so pick your poison...!!!

to a draft, I hope works out, esp for Kyle Holder, this kid could be our SS of the future, and I like his game better than Bregman's of LSU.....
