I think Courtney Lee would be a good fit for the Nets. A good shooting SG with solid intangibles.

Sounds straight out of a scouting site. i don't think an intangible can be solid. It just is.

no problem man....I've looked over these scouting sites many times and sometimes the negatives and positives contradict each other to the point of laughability.
 
To think we would had alleviated this problem if we didn't sell our pick in 2004 and draft kmart 2. this is the only time that new ownership has ever truly irked me.
 
Let's just hope we don't draft the wrong guy (2005), the guy who won't even come to the USA (2004), the guy who did come to the USA but sucked (2003), or draft a second round sleeper but trade him away for cheap (2003).
 
we should look at my boy Shan foster, his having one heck of a season his shooting lightsout 44.1 percent from the three pt arc and 51.1 field goal. Look at this stats his solid.
 
Darrell Arthur. Also need SGs in the worst way so I would take a long look at Courtney Lee, Shan Foster, and Kyle Weaver for the other 2 picks. Also take a look at Brandon Rush, but the knee injury worries me a little.
 
I think there's a difference between who the Nets SHOULD take and who they WILL take. History has shown that they'll probably take a non-freshman from a large, national-strength school that can play defense and has a high basketball IQ--if not a high IQ, period. He's also likely to be quiet, introspective, and not necessarily the top dog on his college team. He'll also be tall for his position. However, given their recent personnel moves, I'd say they're also looking for someone with off-the-charts athleticism who can create his own shot, possibly someone who can run like a deer so they can bring back the fast break with Devin at the helm. It goes without saying that this player should be able to shoot from the perimeter or beyond fairly consistently.


I think I just described Chase Budinger.

Obviously, unless they have a top-ten pick, they'll have to compromise on something. I suspect that on-ball defense is something that they will NOT compromise on. I think they will let Boki go. With Boki gone (I'd be shocked otherwise), and Kidd with his inconsistent defense gone, and Malik Allen gone, and the acquisitions of Devin Harris and Trent Hassell, I think they will use the opportunity to try to build a lock-down defensive team. I am not sure about Krstic being back; his defense is terrible right now, but I am guessing that they'll try to resign him cheap. I wouldn't be surprised if they resign Wright.

So I'd start by looking at SGs and SFs from large programs that are considered to be strong defenders, and narrow it down from there.

Honestly no matter who we draft, they're going to be a bench player. We you look at our bench there isn't a need for lock down defensive players...there's a need for a player who can consistently score when RJ and Vince aren't on the court...

I've been pleasantly surprised by Nenad's defense since he's come back. Great team defense. Last night was not good for him because he can't match-up with Rashasd Lewis. I think he comes back signed to the qualifying offer. I think the only free agent coming back is Diop.

I agree Boki is gone after the season. I really like the idea of Shan Foster. Best shooter in college basketball. Kittles like body.

Plays defense too. I'll take a bench player that shoots lights out and gives some defense. Wouldn't use a high pick on him.

When no one on your bench can sink a wide open shot, I would take a player with that ONE dimension. Would be nice to have someone that automatic. That teams need to cover.
 
I think we could use a combo guard or swingman. If we sign Diop, which I hope we do, our frontcourt is set. PG should be set. Nachbar should be let go. If we could get a guy like Mayo I'd be happy.

mayo's falling...hopefully to us...we are also eternally on a search for a combo guard as much as a shooter and low post scorer...

The perfect draft would have us somehow landing Bill Walker and OJ Mayo. High school best friends kind of like Oden and Conley. A nice fit with Mayo playing the one and the two and Walker the two and the three.

Bill Walker is said to be a Ruben Patterson type player. I see him more as a shorter Gerald Wallace due to his hops. I think the worst case is a Hassan Adams type player who gets the team going on jaw dropping plays. Attitude is quite similar to Mikki Moore with a cocky swade to himself that isn't too far like Gilbert.

Mayo is more of a pure scorer. Not afraid to shoot the ball which isn't bad if he gets more consistant. Known as a 4th quarter scorer which is what we find ourselves lacking in many games. Undersized but could earn spots playing the point as well like Eddie House did.

Mayo is dropping in the ranking which could land on us. As for Bill Walker, people may hold back on him due to his temper but we are use to taking chances like this.

Wasn't Walker injured, too? That might make him drop in the draft. Might drop him to the 2nd round.

Yeah that's why it's quite similar to when we drafted Boone. We may have gotten him in the second round but we figured we'd try it out since Williams and Boone were good friends.
