Portland comes in at #22

here’s a good reason Portland is called Beervana. This Pacific Northwestern metropolis is the beer capital of the world, with 32 breweries within the city limits -- 38 if you consider the entire metro area. That’s more than any other city in the world. If beer is not your thing, consider that Portland also has a growing distillery population with many small craft distilleries creating some fantastic local vodka, gin and whisky.

Need to work off some of that beer or booze? Portland offers hundreds of miles of bike trails, both off track and around the city’s many parks. Mount Hood is a short drive away for world-class skiing, as is the coast where visitors can stroll the many art galleries and enjoy the beach.

Like any city, Portland is experiencing financial hardships. Unlike many cities, Portland is ripe for a renaissance as a high-tech incubation center. Will it surpass the Silicon Valley anytime soon? Not likely. However, it does have a solid base of passionate, technologically knowledgeable workers, along with new and profitable tech companies flourishing with a huge interest from big-time venture capitalists.

Man I love P-Town! Whenever I get back form a road trip for work, I just feel lucky to have lived here my whole life!

Portland and Vancouver BC were the only NW cities to make that list.

The entertainment/film industry is starting to grow as well with Laika animation studios and a TV show being filmed primarily in Portland.

Word up. I fucking love this town. I was born in Portland, but I've been to 26 countries and lived in a few states. Portland is my favorite city anywhere. Only Amsterdam, Prague and Krakow hold a candle to it.

Toronto was #15. I guess Turkoglu saw this article.

Chicago is #1? As a formerly single guy who lived there, that puts the rest of the list in doubt. It's a freaking sausage fest.

Chi-town is #1? wack.

I didn't bother since they made this a stupid fucking slideshow for the list instead of putting on a page...helps your pageviews i guess but fucking wack shit to read.

That list is dreadful. Madrid should be way higher than Barcelona (#2). Barcelona is full of ignorant Catalonians who ignore you if you can't speak Spanish or Catalan. Some of them don't even speak Spanish! The place is full of gypsies who are constantly trying to rip tourists off. Madrid has a much better nightlife and isn't full of Catalonians--Much more polite.

London at fourth? What the fuck? "The home of football"? Football started up north before it was founded in London. The place is such a dump and the only thing worthy to its name is the transportation and tourist attractions. Housing is over-inflated and even a pint of Stella costs five bucks.

The only one I agree with in the top five is Sydney. Beautiful city. Friendly people. It would be fantastic place to live.

Hmm, what's closer to Belgium? London or Portland? I think the import tax makes it five bucks in Portland. A much greater distance to travel.

Well, Shaq has played in Portland many times.
Shaq is the Big Aristotle.
And Aristotle was Belgian.
So I guess Portland is closer.
