I'm still picking my jaw back up off the floor after watching him last night. Those charges taken were insane!! How quickly he go into position and stopped moving. And hitting the three quite well!

To be honest guys, call me a dreamer, but I could see Toumani making the All-Star team in the future. I know, him scoring 25 plus a game is unlikely with the scoring typically coming from Deni, Grant and Shae (when back), hopefully Scoot and undoubtedly Dame next year. Still, Toumani seems to have the pedigree and ability to be a scorer as well as the defensive juggernaut he is. The impact he makes on the game, really begs the question: does he deserve to be an All-star at some point?

Jrue has been an All-Star without tons of scoring, right? And speaking of Jrue, I feel like he's been playing like an All-Star a good part of this year.

Anyway, can we possibly fairly say that Toumani has All-star potential and it's pretty exciting to have several guys on the team who can play like that caliber of player?

I just feel like he deserves more recognition and praise for what he's doing. He should be 1st team All-defense and my God, he still hasn't missed a game, right?

Reading this section of an article makes me feel like even media members and writers are not seeing the reality of the game:

"Portland found itself in a dogfight with the pesky Pelicans in an ugly slugfest that featured a barrage of turnovers, risky passes, inconsistent scoring and general sloppiness. The Blazers trailed by double-digits in the first half, by seven points in the third quarter and when the game finally slogged into crunch time, New Orleans had somehow managed to stay within striking distance, scrapping their way to a one-possession game."

PESKY is an understatement about the Pelicans; they played with a lot of tenacious defense and harrying our players and yet we survived and won. I don't think it's accurate or fair to call out the Blazers for sloppy play or playing an ugly game. I think you give credit to the opponent and you praise the Blazers for only getting 13 turnovers against such a hard-playing and talented opponent. You don't say, "barrage of turnovers" when the story is actually that the Blazers kept their turnovers WAY down AGAIN.depsite all the attempts of the other team to force them

Anyway, that article just didn't sit right with me. Blazers did a great job and won against a team playing much better than their record suggests. Still, many people seem to want to complain or barely give them any credit and act like they should have stomped the Pelicans and be up by 20 after the 1st quarter.

Similar thing happened in the recent Wizards game. The Wizards brought it close in the first half and many people were like, "our team sucks for letting that happen." Remember what players and coaches always tell us? Even the worst-record NBA team is still an NBA team and can win a game against any other NBA team.

Indeed! I see Toumani impressing with his ball-handling and that jam last night was pretty killer, don't you think?

Then Jimmy waned into a bit of a dull star. More like a brown dwarf than an O-type supergiant star. Well, maybe Chris Paul deserves the title of brown dwarf. Wow, his playing career sure ended on a sad, abrupt note from a broken-down, out-of-tune bargain piano.

true. I just remember Butler's outside-->inside dribble drive game and question if Camara will ever have those skills. But that game had developed by his 5th season and this is Camara's 3rd

trying to delete hindsight, their 3rd year marks are pretty close:



just looking at assist/turnover numbers, Butler was barely better at assists; quite a bit better at turnovers. This with relatively equal usage rates. But Butler had a 69% assisted FG rate compared to Camara at 78%, so I'd assume a higher percentage of Butler's turnovers came from creating his own offense

keeping in mind that it was almost a different era 12 years ago, Toumani does have several edges on Butler in terms of efficiency (except for ball-handling). And they are more than just marginal edges. FG%; 2ptFG%; 3ptFG%; TS%...Camara well ahead in all those categories. Camara is also a better rebounder while being just as versatile a defender. Butler better at steals but Camara is elite...maybe GOAT...and establishing defensive position and drawing fouls. Creating those kinds of turnovers is high value

Butler was about 16 months younger than Toumani is this comparison. That's something. One area where Butler crushes Camara is in FT Rate. He had a .488 vs .161 advantage. That's huge. And he shot a much higher percentage from the line. That is an aspect of ball-handling I doubt Camara will ever catch up to Butler in. For the rest of the creation stats, I'd think Camara just won't have the opportunity Butler had. Butler was a primary option for running the offense along with Rose. Camara wil almost certainly be deferring to Deni, Dame, Jrue, Scoot, & Sharpe

I'm reluctant to say any player is a core player on a .500 team, but if I did, I'd put Deni, Camara, and Clingan there. Choose between 24 year old Butler and 25 year old Camara? I guess that's a hindsight trap again although I do value hindsight. Still, I'd probably take Camara because the Blazers already have a player filling the Butler role on offense in Deni; and 24 year old Deni is a lot better than 24 year old Butler; at least he is on offense

now Butler did take a big leap in production and efficiency between his 3rd and 4th seasons. His points went from 13.1 to 20.0; FG% from .397 to .462; 3ptFG% from .283 to .378; TS% from .522 to .583; assist/turnover up from 1.73 to 2.36. Pretty unlikely that Camara can match that, in part, because his current efficiency numbers (other than assist/turnover) are quite a bit higher already. Margins are much tighter for Camara
