Trade Dame or CJ?

Undefeated? Who's arguing that - we were merely asking for a first round home playoff game victory. Pardon us for our unrealistic expectations.

Yes, because the counter plan we need a FUCKING SUPERSTAR is so much more realistic.

It's called Fair Weather Fans. They jump off the bandwagon whenever the wind blows the wrong way.

However, mark my words, a few wins and they'll be back.
You're too new to be calling anyone here fair weather fans.

The "member" who started this thread created a new account just to come here and stir the shit. New account and hasn't been back since. That's not a fair weather fan, that's a troll.

There is a big difference between being a fair weather fan and wanting players/coach/GM held accountable when they are not doing their job... are you just happy we have a team in Portland? I mean, don’t you want more from the product when you spend 20k+ per year on your season tickets... are you happy being mediocre?

Being 3rd seed in the West and having the 7th best record in the league is not being mediocre.

Yep, we're down 0-2 in the series and that sucks. Can we get better? Of course we can, and we have. We won 8 more games this season than last. HOU and GSW didn't become contenders overnight. It takes time. Our defense was vastly improved this season and we were the 2nd youngest team in the league. Wanting to trade one, or both, of our two best players and fire the GM and coach seems like a knee jerk reaction to losing two playoff games in a row.

Am I happy being mediocre? No, that's a strawman. It assumes we are an average team. We are not. We are better than average and improving. Which would you rather be, a 49-win 3rd seed, or a 41-win 8th seed? We improved by 8 wins and 5 seeds without trading either of our best players or firing anyone. We are headed in the right direction but we still have a ways to go.

Sure, it would be great to have a LeBron, or even a Paul George or a Kawhi Leonard walk through that door, but this is a small market team with limited appeal to attract players to come here. We are lucky to have a player as talented as Damian Lillard who actually wants to play here. Trading him would be beyond stupid. Even suggesting it is asinine.

I'm not new. I've been in and out of here for the last ten years.

Are you saying I have no right to an opinion? 'Cause that would stink.

I spend a lot more than that for my tickets. A lot more.

I've been a Portlander for virtually all my life. Okay, I moved here when I was 8 mos. old. I guess I just love the place where I grew up to the point that I will always support my team. I think that's pretty much the definition of a fan.

I'll bet you don't ever hear any of the Blazers say we should can the coach or get a new owner or get a new GM or get rid of our best players. Nope, they pretty much support the team, and that's what I'm gonna do.

I've seen fair weather fans in a lot of sports so I can spot one when I see one.

If your opinion of others who are critical of the Blazers is that they're fair weather fans, then your opinion stinks. As someone who attended games during the Z-Bo era I'll be damned if I sit quietly and be accused of being a fair weather fan.

If the shoe fits.

Of course, you're, just like everyone else, entitled to you're own opinion even if it means you think my opinion stinks. After all this is America.

Anyhow, I don't mind someone being critical from time to time. I just think people ought to spend the majority of their time supporting their team. That's my opinion.

It's also just a tad ironic that the one who has been "in and out...for the last ten years" is the one bandying about the term fair weather fan...

CJ and Swannigan for Holiday. Money works. I did it. Cant beleive no one else would do it.

It seems I've hit a nerve.

To explain, my buddy is one of the moderators here and he frequently asked me to participate more. I've also got three other buddies who are long time members here who did the same. My problem was I was an active member of another forum and had little time to devote to here. That other forum has evaporated so I've come over here to spend time with fellow Blazer fans.

As long as you're a Blazer fan and at least try to refrain from personal attacks, I've got no bone to pick with you. Sound fair?

So, give me a definition that you think describes a fan of a team.

Both, we need a fucking rebuild, you are going NOWHERE with either of them, only people in Portland believe the hype of those two overrated guards.
I love how youre back for the first time since before the 13 game win streak

Yeah, build around Nurkic and Collins so you have another mediocre team in 3 years from now.

We need a FUCKING SUPERSTAR, DO YOU UNDERSTAND THAT?
In terms of posts, yours are definitely mediocre. So who are you to whine about mediocrity? Your posts are the epitome of it.

That's the thing - you don't need to explain yourself. Neither should those of us you're calling fair weather fans. This is a small (hopefully) slice of our lives, and for the most part we don't know how deep anyone's fandom goes. But it's a safe bet we're all fans if we're spending our free time talking about a team when they aren't even playing.
A fan, to me, is anyone who follows one team consistently.
A fair weather fan is anyone who only cares about a team when they're among the best in the league.

RipCityTwo: where obvious trolls get more protection from the Mods than those calling them a troll.

Where were all these threads/posters when the team was winning 13 in a row????

Fucking assholes. Nobody goes undefeated. Get the fuck over it.

I've been advocating trading CJ for a couple of years now....and also that Stotts philosophy will get this team no where in terms of being a contender.

Also, please link the post that said the Blazers would/could/should go undefeated.

A fan of a team is someone who supports the team and always wants them to win. A fan is also one who looks at the team and sees what areas they need to improve in; e.g. they might look at a team that is near last in assists, fast breaks and taking charges, and wonder what is wrong and what could be done differently. A fan might also look at an imbalance; e.g. having too many small guards who need the ball in their hands. A fan has the right to criticize coaches, general managers and players; hoping that somehow he'll be heard and that they and the team will improve.
