Re: HoopsWorld Morning Report - Moving Wallace/VC?

I got this off O-live so not sure if true but looks correct.

Chad Ford:
• All eyes are on Portland right now. As of early this morning the Trail Blazers were still talking to at least three teams: the Nets, the Bucks and the Bobcats.
Sources say the Blazers still prefer a deal for Gerald Wallace, but are struggling to get something done. The Bobcats turned down an offer for Wallace yesterday, but came back to Portland last night looking for more assets for a Wallace deal. The Blazers have refused to part with Nicolas Batum so far and don't want to take back Nazr Mohammed and his contract in return.

The Bucks have had ongoing discussions with the Blazers about a Richard Jefferson and Luke Ridnour swap. But it sounds like the Blazers want more assets (read Ramon Sessions or a first-round pick) to take back Jefferson's contract.

The same is true for their talks with the Nets. Last night it sounded like there was some agreement on players. The latest has the Nets wanting Raef LaFrentz and Channing Frye for Vince Carter and Maurice Ager. The outstanding issue is the Blazers' insistence that the Nets include the Golden State Warriors' 2011 first-round pick, owned by New Jersey.

If we can trade Frye and RLEC for VC and not give up Outlaw even I would probably do that deal. I don't want VC at all and that might be to good to pass up. It sounds like it still isn't good enough for KP though. That means he doesn't want VC at all IMO.

Re: HoopsWorld Morning Report - Moving Wallace/VC?

GWallace's D > Batum's D

No.

Wallace is a good forward defender, but he can't guard the likes of Chris Paul or Tony Parker. Batum can guard any player in the NBA. And he's only going to get better.

Sessions?

MSP is reporting that KP wants Ramon Sessions in any deal with RJ, which is awesome...

Of course Charlotte and KP are still talking... Nazr and Batum are the main objects of discussion.

And with VC, PDX wants that 2011 1st rounder and are holding out for it.

Should be interesting. 4 hours left, can't wait!

KP is being to greedy!!!

come on!!!!! raef and frye for vince and ager! but we say no because we demand a 2011 first round pick?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!??!?! screw the draft! we need to be done with the draft for a while! kp is great with the draft but I think is weakness is he over values some of our young guys! we are going to turn into the the old baby bulls!!! THE CAKE WILL BURN MAKE A MOVE!

Chad Ford: I know we have basically written off any chance of an Amare Stoudemire trade at this point. But I found it interesting that a Memphis source insisted to me that the Grizzlies had some dialogue with the Phoenix Suns as recently as Wednesday about Stoudemire. According to the source, he Suns continue to insist that Rudy Gay be in any deal for Stoudemire. The Grizzlies won't give up Gay, I'm told. It makes you wonder, though, if the Suns are still talking to other teams.

Yes, with Alvin Gentry at the helm, the Suns have scored 282 points in the past two games and Amare has been huge. But it's also a fact that the Suns have to find some way to clear $7-9 million off their cap if they are going to avoid paying the luxury tax next year.

Re: Sessions?

KP is playing chicken with the other GMs. I bet they blink/swerve first. You know one of them will.

Re: HoopsWorld Morning Report - Moving Wallace/VC?

Wallace can defend and play the 4... Batum... na da.

Re: Sessions?

I guess 2 threads of this got made at similar times. We can merge this and the "KP is being gready" thread.

I agree with you. However, Wallace really has a motor, and I think we really need that. The last time we had a guy with a great motor, it turned out he was a motor-head.

I really do think the other GMs will blink first. We have the cap relief, they want it. I think that is more important that players right now in this economy. So I think KP knows he is dealing from a position of power.

Re: KP is being to greedy!!!

He is playing from a possition of power. Unfortunately that will bite him in the ass at some point.

Agents wanting players to move...Teams wanting to deal....

If KP demands the moon those teams will shut us out at some point, and those agents might not want their players signing here.

I'm not sure KP has very strong diplomacy skills

Re: KP is being to greedy!!!

KP has ice water in his veins. He is just waiting to see who folds first. He has three options and you know that one of them will fold rather than come away with nothing at the trade deadline.

Re: KP is being to greedy!!!

I'd rather trust KP than someone who prints unsubstantiated rumors as fact and does not know the difference between "to" and "too".

Re: Sessions?

Also, I said this in another thread, but the MSP was interviewing someone in Milwaukee this morning, and they said Milwaukee wants Outlaw, Rudy and Raef for RJ and Ridnour. It seems like KPs counter offer is Outlaw, Sergio and Raef for RJ and Sessions? Maybe PDX throws in a pick or 2?

Re: KP is being to greedy!!!

So it'd be essentially Frye for Carter, and we want Frye for Carter and a 1st rounder. Haha..

Re: KP is being to greedy!!!

God damn I hope its Wallace. WE should comprimise and take Nazr but not include Batum. Hopefully they'd do that.

Re: KP is being to greedy!!!

Yes, I wish KP just took the first offer he was given instead of playing his cards out....

Re: Sessions?

This can also be merged into the ESPN Trade Roundup thread. ESPN is reporting KP wants Sessions too. That's probably where MSP got the information anyway.

Re: HoopsWorld Morning Report - Moving Wallace/VC?

Christ KP, way to wait till the last minute.

If we don't make a trade, how disappointing is it going to be. I mean, I know Mixum should be on suicide watch, but what about the rest of ya'll?

Re: HoopsWorld Morning Report - Moving Wallace/VC?

No.

Wallace is a good forward defender, but he can't guard the likes of Chris Paul or Tony Parker. Batum can guard any player in the NBA. And he's only going to get better.

Batum can defend PGs and not play PG, but Wallace can defend and play PF on top of SF like Batum. Wallace is also a better defender and better on offense and is only 26. A Wallace/Batum SF rotation would be sick as hell!

Re: Sessions?

well if we got sessions and jefferson. i would definitely add rudy to the deal.

Re: Sessions?

I know, right? That is a ridiculous offer. I laughed when he said that, and so did the MSP boys. They like the Sessions trade though, as I think I do.

They think that KP has been targeting Sessions for a while, and that is why PDX and MIL have been in trade talks for so long.

Did I miss Batum shutting down Chris Paul? Because the last time the Blazers played New Orleans, I remember Chris Paul abusing everybody who tried to guard him until he pulled his groin.

Re: Sessions?

Blake, Sergio, Outlaw, Raef, Frye, 1st for RJ and Sessions? IDK if they'd do it.

I think you either do a trade for Wallace/Nazr or RJ/Sessions.

Re: Sessions?

So we want Sessions to be our PG of the future? What about Jerryd?

My take has been consistent. If a deal is made, I fully expect it to be fairly lopsided in terms of talent in the Blazers' favor. If no deal is made, I'll assume that there was no such trade offered. I also expect the economy to get much worse before it gets much better, so teams struggling financially now may be even more desperate after the season to unload contracts.
