I hope Nurkic and Hart are traded, ASAP — Mobility and too few minutes with Nurkic and Hart’s player option. Simons has game he’s still working through but he looks flat out good when on … which equals good trade value. I think I’ve seen enough of him with Dame to want him traded for a forward or in a mega-deal.

Dame and Shaedon as the back court is not yet — but next year to go with Grant?
GET: quality forward, mobile center, and a solid, back-up PG (Pritchard), to go with GP2, Eubanks, Walker … and some actual, microwave bench scoring would be nice. Asking for a lot, I know.
Nurk, Ant, for a bunch of length that can defend. Keep Hart.

I certainly don't know that it will, I'm just throwing out a hypothetical to see how badly people want to win this season and if they would be willing to take a lesser deal to do so.

For example, we didn't use the CJ TPE last February, we waited until June to use it for Grant.

Actually using a TPE for a seriously good player was an anomaly for Portland. If Cronin did that again … starting printing up the “In Joe We Trust” tee shirts.

Agreed... that was one example I thought the transaction was worth the added 4 month wait.

Although, what if he let them know he would come back, especially if trading him would help them get an important piece?

That would be great! But he would have to come back for a reduced rate at the MLE. Think he would be willing to do that when he is likely opting out to get more $$$?

No, he won't do that. I keep hoping Blazers will balance the roster and then be willing to go over the cap with the better team.

Exactly....although, they are WAY over the Salary Cap and within a whisker of the Luxury Tax, and look how they are performing. As an owner, I wouldn't want to go into the Lux Tax for this performance either.

I'm thinking Ant & some, will be traded for front court help. With Ant & Sharpe, one of them would have to go. I think Hart will be a better compliment to Dame in the back court till Shae becomes a starter.
Of course, the right deal has to be there.

Lmao wtf. Ant untouchable, but Sharpe isn’t? Hope this is just smokescreens because if not, wow.

I think it would. Raptors want a rebuild and I think Ant + Nurk or picks gets it done.
It's Ant, Nurk and picks... most likely every first round pick we could free up by guaranteeing ours to Chicago. Then we have to turn Josh into a starting C, I think Bamba would be the one we could get in a three team trade. That makes us a lot more talented and gives a lot to build around. We would make the playoffs, even with Shae or Nas starting.

Siakam is probably the only realistic player I can think of that is worth all these moves. And I think your scenario is about as good as we can do. Which means it probably won't happen

Ayton isn’t considered a realistic option?

A lot of players are realistic, it is the "worth it" part it I would have an issue with. To match his salary you have to give up 2 good players.
This team needs a scoring forward more than a different center.

Ayton isn’t considered a realistic option?

I don't think either are. Toronto will want more than Simons/Nurkic and the Sun's aren't about to trade in Ayton for Nurkic.

Not sure I'd want Ayton. He makes way too much.

Ant and Nurkic (plus maybe some draft compensation ) for Dinwiddie, Wood, and Mcgee

Agree it would take more than just Nurk and Simons for Siakam. When I said realistic, I meant Siakam is at least rumored to be available and we have some pieces they would want. But as discussed previously, that piece would probably need to be Sharpe and I don't like that. First-round picks I would consider, as much as I hate doing that as well.

Yeah, I wouldn't want to send Shae but I would guarantee the Chicago pick and send over up to all three of the firsts that would make available to get Siakam. As long as we had a deal in place to move Josh or someone else for an athletic starting big.

I don't believe Ant is untouchable. My untouchable list ends at Dame, Grant, and Shae. We need a quality starting PF, moving Grant to SF, and a bigger SG. That alone would make us a playoff team. At this point I'm all in on trading Ant to forward that progress.

Grant has to come off that list if his contract demands are stupid.

Was discussing just that ideas with someone who wondered what this team would look like with...

Dame/Little/OG/Grant/Nurk....or???

Much more size, defense and rebounding, and the believed Little+OG's scoring would more than make up for the loss of Ant+Hart.
You would need a legit backup PG (as we have needed for years), and I love the matchup nightmares Little could cause for a lot of other SGs.
There is a lack of playmaking outside of Dame, but that is the case now, so nothing there would have changed. But several other things would be better IMO.

They raised an interesting discussion point.

All sorts of names popping up as 'possibly' on the move. But does Portland have what it takes to get involved? Not having control of their own Draft picks is hampering them.

Michael Scotto: Pascal Siakam is leading the league in minutes per game for the second straight season and averaging career-highs in points (25) and assists (6.3). From talking to executives around the league, they don’t believe he’s going to be traded, unless you overpay and blow Toronto away with a crazy offer.
I believe this is probably true. Why trade him unless you were totally blowing the team up?
I still think a three way netting us Bamba, Rozier, Plumlee and Jalen McDaniels for Nurk and Simons is doable, and since Blazers are not going to blow it up, it's better than nothing..
The only other thing is trying to get Jaden McDaniels and Naz Reid from MN, but I rate that improbable.

I will continue to contend that all of our picks after this season (obviously only a swap next season but anything they want to do after that) are and should be in play but only if it guarantees us getting much better. A deal or deals involving guaranteeing our pick to Chicago in the upcoming draft and sending future first round picks out has to get us much closer to contending and guarantee that we'll make the playoffs or in other words get another all star level player on this team with Dame and improve the balance of this roster.

What all star level player do you have in mind that can be had for a future first. And with Lillard getting on the older side is it smart to trade away any of our future assets?
