Happ would only be a 3 month rental but is a solid innings eater and a good LHer.


Madison Bumgarner, another lefty, would also be a great acquisition but the Giants currently are oly 4 games out of the division lead so they may not be sellers at the trade deadline. He has a relatively cheap $12 Mil team option for 2019 and is only 29 so if the Yanx were able to somehow snag him they would also have the option to redo his contract and lock him up for a few more years...he could also double as a DH on his off days...lol.

Cole Hamels is another possibility though he'll be near 35 at the end of the year and has a high vested option for next year.

Saw the Giants Padres game highlights on "Quick Pitch" this AM and Bumgarner looks like he's getting back into shape. Would love to see that guy on the Yankees, pinch hitter as well, Post Season Experience up the ass. From what I have heard though the Giants like to keep their "family" players. Given the best all around choice Happ may be a rental but he'd be an impact starter with plenty of experience pitching in the AL East. He'd also be a bridge to and improving German, and a pending Loaisiga. No comment on Hammels. With Cashman pulling the strings I'd be a bit concerned on what he'd give up.

Good thread 59 and I expect it will be a busy one. I would rather have Happ than Hamels than as don't really see either of them as anything but a 4th game option in the playoffs behind seve, tanaka and CC. But I hope cashman does nothing until he is convinced there is no trade to be had for Degrom or Bumgarner. Wouldn't be surprised if we further build up the bullpen adding someone like Hand if the price not too exorbitant. We have plenty of excess pieces to get any pitcher we want if their available for trade. Also, by then we will have seen another 5 or 6 starts from German and lasagna and may think one or the other might be able to handle a game 4 especially german. Mets only shot to get better is to do what yanks did and get an influx of good young players for a Degrom and anyone else worth a shit(not too many) or they will just continue to wallow in mediocrity or worse. Whether their smart enough to do that remains to be seen. And while I don't see cashman ever trading torres something tells me andujar could be had with drury able to come up to play 3rd and the ability to sign machado next season in a Degrom trade.

Happ for a rental would or should have an immediate positive impact, hopefully a stabilizing one. But who will be traded, ???

Mad-Bum would be ideal, but I don't see the Giants letting go of their Ace. The NL West is up for grabs; he's still young, not a big bloated contract, & SF would be fools to let him go.

Another NL West Southpaw, and a FA end of year; tho' I doubt AZ will let him go, due to their lead currently in the NL West. Corbin was very impressive prior to TJ surgery of 014. I'm not convinced he's ever returned to that (prior) level, or been the same since. Not too expensive, but I'm not sure he's worth the risk; or capable of being elite; or worth t/loss of a prospect at this time.

Paxton won't be going anywhere, with Seattle in the AL West run.

Hamels, too pricy high $$$, perhaps with a bit of risk too. Cole embarrassed the Yanx recently, he's having a decent year for being on a horrid team. A major concern with his increase is: BB/9 this year, almost double from some of his better past seasons, his age and bloated contract imo, make him a no-go. Which means Trashman will probably pursue him... He's another post TJ SP, whom I'm not convinced ever regained prior TJ form; tho' he proved me wrong t/last outing vs t/Yanx.
