Trade Deadline Predictions

Can't imagine HOU being able to trade for him because they don't have the salaries to send out for him that they'd be willing to trade.
Can't imagine SAS trading for him because Meyers seems like the opposite of a Spurs player, and seems like a dude who could become suicidal if coached by Pop.
DAL makes the most sense. I highly doubt they'd trade Noel for Meyers unless we including something extra. I wouldn't even want Noel at this point.

I would love this:
Meyers Leonard for Josh McRoberts and DAL's 2018 2nd round pick (~36th)
-- If Dallas is truly interested in Leonard, trading McRoberts (who doesn't play and is expiring) and a 2nd round pick might be possible. We'd not only shed Meyers but actually recoup some value in the 2nd round pick, which would be crazy. It'd be a pretty dumb trade on DAL's part but we saw CHI sell the 38th pick last year so who knows. If someone like Justin Jackson (Maryland version) enters the draft, he could fall there given his injury and would be a great pick. This years draft is pretty deep and we should definitely try to get into the 2nd round. Shake Milton, Moritz Wagner, Jacob Evans, Bonzie Colson, and Rawle Alkins could be some decent players available there. We could even move into the later 2nd and look at a fellow Vancouver, WA native (who I've played against and dropped 18 on) who plays at Washington State who NBADraft.com projects to go at #55 right now.

Shittt, two Vancouver natives right here:

Meyers for McRoberts and a second is pretty much the type of trade we’d be looking at with Meyers. I’d probably do it straight up for McRoberts as well.

I know CJ got abused by Jimmy Butler last night...it was ugly...I started imagining what Butler would be like paired with Dame...he's not on the block but that's exactly what we need at the 2 guard..a two way stud

A lot of people were down with a CJ/Butler trade this offseason. But you know Olshey probably didn’t even consider it.

I don't know if Olshey offered CJ or not, but I don't think that the Bulls were looking to add salary. They took the T'Wolves offer of Lavine, Dunn and the 7th pick in the draft (exchanged for #16). That amounted to about a $10 million salary dump and some good young players in exchange for Butler. Taking CJ and, say the #10 pick (bye Zach) would have added salary and probably wasn't what the Bulls were looking for.

There is probably a guy who might be available in OKC, however. And in a vacuum, I feel like Paul George is a better player on both ends than Jimmy.

I'd trade CJ for PG in a heartbeat, even given the contract concerns.

Can you imagine the backlash if he left this summer to play on his fourth team in year? I doubt he would do it.

He’s never hidden his desire to play for the Lakers. He’s not asking to be traded from OKC. He’d be gone like smoke in the wind, especially if the Lakers also manage to get James.

neither LeBron or PG13 are going to the LAL, that team wont compete for a couple of years until Lonzo and Ingram improve
of course, they would compete with LeBron and PG13, but they wont be able to win a championship, at best they can go to the finals

LeBron will stay at CLE, or join some other contender, maybe HOU (if they can pull that deal), although Im not sure hed come to the west, so Id say hell stay at CLE... maybe hell join LAL some day, but not now, no way

as for PG13, he said if things work out in OKC, hes willing to stay, but given how they play... Im not sure where could he go, but I dont believe its the LAL

So if he was traded to the Hornets (as just an example), you don't think he would go to the Lakers in free agency?

I just don't think he's as likely to bolt to fourth team if he were traded to his third team. Just my feeling.

Backlash from who?
Media, fans, etc. PG seems like the kinda guy who cares about his image and perception after seeing his time in Indy. Has that KDesque desire to be liked. Or else he woulda asked out of Indy far earlier.

So just to be clear, that is a yes that you think he would be likely to stay with the Hornets in my imaginary scenario?

It will only happen if PG and LBJ decide that they want to make a super-team in LA. As we've seen before, stars can sometimes decide to make things happen that team GMs can't. And you think that the Lakers, with the addition of those two guys and the bunch of vets who would follow them on minimum contracts couldn't make the Lakers a contender?

I don't think PJ gives two shits if LeBron follows him to LAL. He has seen a big 3 and know it takes more (chemistry) to make a good team. As much as I hate the Lakers, if (and possibly big IF) they get their shit together, they have the right pieces to contend for many years. Their guys who will be studs are young.

Here's my dream scenario.

Trade 1: Napier/Vonleh/Leonard to MIL for Jabari and Dellavadova
Trade 2: CJ for PG

Starters: Dame/PG/Jabari/Aminu/Nurk -- defensive monster with ability to switch 2-4 and a stalwart in the middle

Bench: Delly/Pat/Collins/Ed

Purgatory: ET/Moe/Layman

That is a defensive juggernaut with depth and flexibility. No way PG can do better than that in free agency.

From Marc Stein: Rival executives expect Jeff Weltman, Orlando’s new team president, to aggressively hunt for new homes for the likes of Evan Fournier, Elfrid Payton and Mario Hezonja, given that Nikola Vucevic’s broken finger is likely to preclude dealing the center.

Orlando’s front office comes from the Milwaukee model. So that being said they’d probably be interested in guys like Aminu, Harkless, and possibly Vonleh. I don’t really see the point in trading for Hezonja (is it true we wouldn’t even have his bird rights?) since he’d price himself out of the MLE if he played well. Rather just go after him in free agency.

Fournier interests me. Simmons interests me, even though he’s not much of a shooter. But if we really wanted to go big we should gauge CJ for Isaac, Biyombo, and a first.

But since I know Olshey wouldn’t consider such logic, I’ll keep it simple. Fournier for Aminu and Harkless.

Dame
CJ
Fournier
Vonleh/Collins
Nurkic

Meh. You think he gives 2 shits what we think? He's gonna go wherever he wants to.

You have absolutely no way of knowing this, or any reason whatsoever to believe it. However, there are plenty on these boards that agree with you.
