That was a dick move. Hope he pays for it if it got scratched.

Why did he do that?

I might have done the same thing. I'd pay for the phone but I'd certainly slap it out of his hand. I would HATE for our society to end up like this:

Think all these players forget that what they do for a job is actually entertainment.

Still want Hood in a Blazer jersey though.

Why did he do that?
Would it be considered racist to joke that he was just trying to live up to his name?

Asking for a friend.

Since he got ejected, I don’t blame him. Was probably just frustrated and took it out on that guy.

He's such a Rodney. That was such a Rodney move!

Huh... Huh... Rodney starts with "Rod"...

So the latest is Utah might be serious about Mirotic and they would offer up Favors’ expiring contract. That got me thinking; would we use the TPE? It’d be enough for Mirotic and if Chicago just wanted a salary dump, they’d save more with our offer.

The only way that’d happen on Portland’s end is if Olshey was confident he could dump enough salary elsewhere and get under the tax. He’d have to clear something just under $16m. That’s tough, but not necessarily impossible. Between Shabazz, Ed, Meyers, Vonleh, and Harkless, it’s possible. Tough, but possible. Maybe.

BTW, ET as a starter is putting up 10/3/3 on 55% FG and 50% (!) from three in over 2 attempts a game in 28 mpg. That's about an average starting wing. This showcasing is paying dividends.

Wonder if we can dump his contract now and open up time for Moe.

Or just dump both hehe

It's clear you don't follow the economic side of the NBA very well....

Chicago is under the cap & actually under the floor. Trading Mirotic for a TPE would not save Chicago ANY money - as they would still have to distribute a minimum of $89.1M to their players for the year regardless of what their total salary is. Chicago is sitting with a payroll at $84M.

Since we are halfway through the season, Chicago has theoretically paid their players a total of $42M so far. They have to spend $47M over the second half of the year - so they can take on a $10M contract this year without spending a dime extra.

In the current NBA economics, there is NO WAY in HELL that Olshey could dump $16M of contracts with nothing coming back. Just will not happen. Dallas & Chicago are the ONLY teams below the floor (they may have some incentive to take on salary - since it will not cost them any cash regardless). There are 4 additional teams below the cap, but taking on salary does have a "cost" associated with it.

Turner + Caleb for Wes Matthews and Devin Harris helps us clear nearly 18 mil off our payroll for 2018-19.

We then trade Napier, Vonleh, a protected pick, and Layman for Tyreke Evans and Ivan Rabb. Evans is absolutely BALLIN this year and is being wasted on a team in MEM that is going nowhere. And as a FA this summer, he probably wants to showcase his game on a bigger stage. Same with Wessy to an extent.

We then end up with:

Starters: Dame/CJ/Evans/Aminu/Nurk
Bench: Pat/Wes/Moe/Collins/Davis
Reserve: Harris/Leonard/Rabb

I think that looks a lot more balanced than it is now, and it would create some flexibility in the summer. Wes/Reke/Harris would be free agents that we could try to keep or just let go for cap savings.

I didn’t say we’d dump $16m with nothing coming back, did I? I said between all those players list d we could theoretically save enough to get under the tax. So something like sending out Meyers and Harkless combined 20m and taking back half, etc etc. Not likely, but also not impossible.

Think we make a trade of Harkless and Vonleh for a underrated SF prospect that has fallen on rough times. Getting rid of Turner and Leonard is just wishful thinking in my mind, unless we attacks picks to them. I am sure Neil will try everything within reason to teams involving teams he doesn't plan to forward his resume too in the future.

Belinelli is a dude that just seems to fit off the bench on any team that has picked him up. Give them a 2nd and Layman (if they want to kick the tires on him).

Yeah I’m interested in both. Only problem is what would we send out to match salaries

Moe + Vonleh (+ future seconds) for Belinelli + Ilyasova works. They are looking to shed vets for younger players and picks.

Meyers + Vonleh + picks also works, but I'm not sure how stupid ATL's GM is.

Vonleh + Swanigan (or any one of Connaughton, Napier, Layman) + future second for either Belinelli or Ilyasova also works.

Of course, Ed Davis + future 2nd also works, but I wouldn't be interested. Seems like it would just be rearranging deck chairs.

Lots of ways to make the salaries match.

Vonleh or even Moe for half a season of Belinelli doesn’t make much sense to me. Meyers maybe.

Yea I think in the right deal Mirotic could bring a positive impact to our team but I think there is a chance there will be better players available for the price of a 1st rd pick.

I also think that it’s telling that reports were all his teammates took Portis side after Portis gave him the two piece chicken dinner.

Portis is crazy. Scouting report from
https://nbaprospects.com/2016summerleague/#/bobbyportis/

- Grew up with a single mother and 3 younger brothers in a rough neighborhood

- Under-privileged lifestyle

- Hungry to be able to provide for his family

- Grew up with a single mom, difficult life - made him want to work hard

- Steve Kyler of Basketball Insiders suggests Portis is crazy off the court. Nobody knows what is going on in his mind

- His craziness manifests on the court, which should help him in the long run

- Imagines the other team is after his mom before every game to make himself angry

Sounds like a man that came from nothing and made it into something. Which is the story of a lot of NBA players. He may be crazy, although none of us have the sufficient information to make that assumption, but his teammates still took his side when he broke Mirotic face.

Different positions. Belly would not affect Pat much.

Really? Can you tell the difference without checking?

Player 1 : 6-5, 206lb (196cm, 93kg)
FG%: 46.2 3FG%: 37.9 FT%: 83.9 EFG%: 56.9

Player 1 : 6-5, 210lb (196cm, 95kg)
FG%: 41.8 3FG%:38.6 FT%: 93.0 EFG%: 51.5

No argument at all. But Belly usually plays the 3 and Pat has been ( Not that it can't change) playing the 2.
But yes he does slide to the three at times like last night when Stotts was going with three guards. Belly though is not really a shooting guard. He is a sharp shooter and is used as such. I think he would augment Pat well if given a chance to be on the court together with a quick guard like Napier.
Just my take.

Isn't Belinelli just a minor upgrade on Pat? And maybe not even that?

I think I'd rather keep pat. Better defender, lower paycheck, much more upside. Marco looks to simply be more aggressive on offense.
