Toffoli brought back a first, 5th and a prospect to Montreal. He's OK but he's 29 and had a fluke, career year last season. If that is the return for a player like that, I don't expect Drury to do much. That is way too much for a non impact player.

I think Miller will bring back something comparable to that, if not slightly more, especially with the extra year. Plus he's better than Toffoli.

Miller will bring back a lot more. People are on drugs thinking the Habs got ripped off. Toffoli has had one year of 50 plus points in his career. Granted, if last year was a full season he would have 2. Plus they gave up a good prospect who is doing well in the SHL. Calgary is a good team but I don't believe in their goalie.

I wouldn’t be surprised if prices are real high we stand Pat. We are not a cup contender at this point. Will be happy to make the playoffs and take our chances with Igor. Also, instead of giving up all our assets I would like to see some young guys like Jones and Barron in the lineup with a chance to stick. Nemeth needs to be a press box analyst the rest of this season unless more injuries strike. I’d hold nils at this point till he builds back up some value in the ahl. I think teams think of him more as a throw in these days instead of a main piece. Make the necessary changes in the off-season when the prices will be lower

Nils has put up a few points eventually he’ll start racking it up though his supporting cast down there is not very good

I would stay away from Chairot, and he's injured anyway now. Giordano possibly but I'm sure the Kraken will ask too much. Schneider with Jones could work well but you may want Jones more as the spare going into the playoffs.

Gourde is the guy I think Drury should be after. It may c0st you Lundkvist or Kravtsov. Not both. He would be perfect for our 3rd line center. You probably would have to throw in a couple of prospects like Reunanen who is really underrated or a Hajek. Not much more.

I agree with you Mel, Drury so far has not been one to make rash moves and it's very difficult to assess a young players true value.

The Canadians are so fucking stupid. I forgot they gave their first rounder this year to the Yotes for Dvorak. So Arizona could have the first and second round picks in this years draft. Plus another first rounder. Then an insane 6 second round picks in the draft. If they do their job, the Yotes should quickly become a force in 3-4 years. They would be wise to start drafting a lot of goalies in the 3rd to 6th rounds the next few years.

I wonder if the Rangers will use Garand in a deal. He seems better than a 4th rounder talent-wise. Maybe as part of a Chychrun deal with a 1st or 2nd/Chytil and either Lundkvist or Kravtsov.

Yotes are inexplicably clueless, though. As badly run an org as they come in sports.

Rangers won’t trade Garand. He will replace Georgiev eventually. Georgiev is gone by next year. Personally. I would prefer the Rangers keep their first rounders and trade prospects that won’t play here.

Rackell seems to be the new name I’ve given up on Miller I don’t think they want to trade him in their asking price is pathetic.

He’s an unrestricted free agent next year so his price should be minimal I do not think the Rangers should give up a first round draft pick for any player they need to keep those. Kravtsov and Hajek for is more than enough.

Stastny could be on their radar too as a secondary option.

Probably would only cost a 2nd rounder and a Reunanen or Pajuniemi type. He's still a pretty good player.

No. Not paying a 2nd rounder. Not even close and certainly not those prospects. I would have no interest in him. He's old. Rangers need a younger, 3rd line center with speed. Gourde is the guy. Get it done Drury. If you told me Gourde was here for Lundkivst and maybe a Hajek, I might give us a shot at the cup. He's that perfect for us.

Another player to keep an eye on. Andrew Copp. Good size. Tough. Can score. Wins 54% of his draws. Is a UFA after this season. Which tells me he doesn't want to stay in Winnipeg. He would be even more perfect than Gourde. He'll be 28 next season. Right now he's out with an upper body injury but he should be back soon. The Jets are stuck in limbo. They can't lose him for nothing and they have no cap room to try and sign him. They will have a hard enough time signing Dubois. They are not a playoff team IMO. Honestly, Chytil and Hajek for Copp would be something the Jets could not turn down. It would be up to the Rangers to see if Copp would be willing to sign here. Or maybe it would be a sign and trade. He's worth locking up 5 years, 5 million. It also gives you insurance if Strome asks for a stupid contract.

Georgiev should be a lesson to Drury. We waited WAY too long, and now his value is down, and we won't get a lot for him unless he is part of a larger package.

If the Canucks hold onto Miller, so be it, but the point still stands 100%. Be it Miller, or some other big player, we need to be the biggest big game hunters at the trade deadline, period. Our needs are so clear, a middle 6 forward and a vet LD, and we need to be all in to fill those needs. We have so many prospects and picks to deal from, and we'd still be very rich young asset wise.

The clock is ticking. Salaries going up, kids being signed to longer bigger money extensions, cannot keep them altogether, other kids will be gone with no place to play here. Really, enough is enough and we have to pull the trigger this year to make our move. If Drury doesn't it really is a shame and a major missed opportunity as we are tighter against the cap starting next season.

This team has done all you can ask for, now Drury needs to reward their play with a strong trade deadline. I'd love to add a player with an extra year at a reasonable AAV like Miller, but we'll see what Drury can and does do. Deadline 3 weeks from today.

I don’t think his value is down people know that Georgiev plays lot better when he plays often. I still think the second rounder to the Oilers makes a lot of sense for them. They need a young goalie to build around.

Sounds like Rackell is the one they're zeroing in on more than costly Miller, or Hertl who may be re-signed. For either a 1st or Lundqvist RR is a nice scorer who can play both spots. I don't think you can get him for a 2nd rounder unless you gave them both of ours.

Rackell isn't taking draws and hasn't for a while so I'm assuming he's playing wing. My guess is they would then use Goodrow to center the third line. Why the dickhead Rangers aren't telling us what is wrong with Kakko is beyond stupid. This isn't the playoffs. If they do trade for Rackell it better be a sign and trade. Not giving up a valuable asset for a guy that will walk in a year.

Brooks said the other day he has a wrist injury. God knows when he’ll be back.

The Devils get rid of that piece of crap Subban and his absurd salary next year. They have to sign Bratt. He's going to ask for 7 million probably. Whether he gets it is unknown. They have some good, young, scorers. Holtz should be up soon. He's doing great in the AHL. Hughes has 17 goals on a loaded Michigan team. Tough to say what he will do on a team without such a big talent advantage when he plays on teams who don't have that. However, the Devils are incompetent drafting defenseman and goalies. They don't put enough resources in it. They try to build from the forwards out instead of from goal and defense out. Which is why they suck.

The fact the Rangers were in on Miller tells me they don't really want to pay Strome and aren't excited on bringing him back. Hertl and Kadri are UFA's next year. Kadri's faceoff % is down a little this year but still a lot better than Strome. Hertl is a 54% faceoff guy and is 3 years younger than Kadri. San Jose blows. I can't see Hertl staying there. I'd feel much better if they replaced Strome with Hertl, traded for Rakell and signed him, dealt Georgiev and let Rooney go. I don't know if they can dump Nemeth. I don't think they liked the idea of having another young d-man on their 3rd pairing this year. It's tempting to put Rakell on the Panarin line but it would be dumb. Plus Rakell and Goodrow might get Chytil to get his head out of his ass for a change.

Panarin-Hertl-Kakko
Kreider-Zibanejad-Lafreniere
Chytil-Goodrow-Rakell
Blais-UFA or Barron-Reeves

At this point the guy is like to add is hertl. Just don’t see how his salary fits in especially as a ufa. Regardless, I hope they don’t resign strome and either trade him or let him walk. Obvious with the strome out and still ongoing kakko had a broken wrist. Only question if he had surgery for it or not. Not worried about the breadman feelings. He can play with anyone. I’m probably on the minority on this but to solve some of our soon to be cap problems what do you guys think panarin gets us back in a trade plus losing that 11 mill salary. Othman and cuylle ae both left wings and could be ready next year to enter the lineup. Just spitballing.

Hertl is an easy add salary wise. They will trade Georgiev, not resign Strome. That is Hertl's salary right there.

It's a great time of the year to be a hockey sportswriter with all the rumored trades being flown up the flagpole. The Rangers can play with any top team in the league and are one of a few teams that can hang with the Panthers. It should be a great experience for the young players.

Teams ask the Rangers for more than they do from other teams. It's been happening for years. So basically, I see players like Miller, Hertl and Copp going to other teams for less than what the Rangers offered them. Same shit, different year. I would not trade Lundkvist for any player who was an UFA next year unless it was a sign and trade. It makes no sense to give up an asset like that for a rental.
