Trade Deadline: Thursday, Feb 20, 12:00 Pacific

Welcome to our community

Be a part of something great, join today!

I feel like overnight, half the teams have come out saying basically everyone except for one or two guys can be had, and yet feel like nothing will end up happening at the deadline.

That's because everyone wants draft picks, yet nobody wants to deal draft picks. I really feel like this draft is being extremely overrated.

Chad Ford has the...

  • Knicks wanting Lin back
  • More Harrison Barnes chatter
  • Suns interested in Deng

Still nothing about the Blazers.

:matrix:

That's because they're very similar types of players. Rondo and Dame couldn't possibly be more different.

Bledsoe and Dragic are quite different players. Bledsoe has improved his jumper but it is still not great. He is one of the better defensive guards in the league. Dragic is a much better shooter and a better pure PG imo.

The bigger issue I see, definitely related to that, is that I imagine there are quite a few teams who WOULD give up a pick. But seems like a lot of the picks have been slightly consolidated this draft. We'd likely move a pick, but we can't. Indiana can't. Dallas can't. Minnesota can't. Detroit can't. Washington can't. Sacramento can't. GS can't. N.O. can't. NY can't. Brooklyn can't.

You have 9 teams in the playoffs, or close to the playoffs, who might be interested in making a deal, but can not move a pick to do it. At least, not a pick this season. And Sacramento seems willing to deal, looking for a big potential splash, but also can't move their own pick.

Then on top of this year's picks, Memphis, Miami and LA all moved 2015 picks, so can not trade their pick this year. Basically, almost half of the league CAN'T move picks. Media is going to talk when no moves are made about how much teams valued draft picks, and being unwilling to move them for temporary fixes, but the reality is that they can not move them. I'm sure quoite a few would if they could to get moves done.

Thanks!
Knicks want Lin back?!?! That's hilarious!
Deng would be a great fit for the Suns.

They can both shoot and slash though. Rondo is a poor shooter. Very poor actually. He has only shot over 30% from three one time in his career.

This brings up another issue. The guy is hurt a lot.

Outside of the lockout in 2011, he has played in 68 games in 2010-2011 and only 38 games last year. That's concerning for me.

Deng doesn't have Batum value (I don't think he's a better player than Nic anyway). But this is especially true when Deng can walk in the summer. Come on now
Why would Deng walk? Also even if he did the Blazers would have a load of cap space to facilitate trades or use in free agency. LMA + Lillard would be an appealing tandem to play with.

I would do Wes for Deng.

Matthews and Wright for Deng.

This.

Don't give up Batum. Even Wes is scary risk considering Deng liked Chicago (big mkt city); doesn't like Clev (small mkt city) and LAL and Dallas has expressed interest in him and will have money to play with this summer.

If Blazers trade for Deng, I hope they don't get burnt and go through what Clev is going through now. Blazers have to factor in that they may not resign Deng.

Of the players rumored to be available, I really like Jack, Jeff Green, and Hawes.

There's also been some rumors about Minny making everyone not named Love available.

I'd see if the Wolves would bite on a Robinson/Wright/Leonard trade for Brewer, Dante, Turiaf move. We give up two young guys, but it would really bolster our bench. I really like Brewer and his athleticism. Dante would be a solid stretch four off the bench and Turiaf is the kind of hustle guy that we need in our second unit.

Ken Berger: The Grizzlies and Timberwolves have gained momentum on a deal that would send Tayshaun Prince and Tony Allen to Minnesota, sources say

JJ and Bud for Prince and Allen

More Minny rumors:

If JJ is dealt to Memphis by Thusday, point guard Wolves target as replacement could be Jameer Nelson rather than Andre Miller

* * *

Even as a 14-year veteran, Denver Nuggets guard Andre Miller has no control over what will happen before Thursday afternoon's trade deadline. But multiple sources close to the situation insist he has let it be known that his No. 1 preference is a trade to the Timberwolves.

I saw that. That's fucking ridiculous. I'd love to have Allen on our team. Pretty clear that Memphis is just trying to dump Prince and his stupid contract.

I'd see if they'd bite on a Allen/Koufos/Prince deal.

From Sheridan Hoops: Sheridan Hoops: Trade Deadline Rumors

  • Mavs and Lakers both trying to trade for Kevin Love (doesn't think it will happen)
  • Cleveland has a lot of pieces to move to get involved in a big deal
  • Knicks interested in Rondo
  • The obligatory Jarrett Jack rumors

Still no Blazer mention.

:matrix:

The Knicks don't want Felton and neither does his wife....she just filed for divorce.

:matrix:

I think I know who she was jealous over.

Why in the world would the Clippers do that?

Neither of those teams have anything to offer for Love. Maybe if LA gets a high lotto pick, that could pry Love.

OMG it gets worse:

Frank Isola @FisolaNYDN
The Knicks are trying to acquire point guard Darren Collison from the Clippers for Iman Shumpert & Raymond Felton according to @WojYahooNBA

This.

Deng doesn't like Cleveland not because of the city or market size but because of the culture surrounding the organization. I think he'd fit in great here.

I don't get the Deng fascination. I'd like to see him guard Curry/CP/KD in the same week like Nic does successfully. Do you guys realize how valuable that is in the playoffs?

Why in the world would the Clippers do that?

With Reddick out, they're forced to start Crawford at SG, which then weakens their bench scoring. They move Collison, they land a starting SG, and slide Jamal back as 6th man.

How many people actually want to trade Nic for Deng?

Blazers could use a Jason Thompson type.

It gets even worse:

Zach Lowe @ZachLowe_NBA
Clips are about $2M over tax, have to throw in more $ than Collison, and probably Collison/Bullock, to take Felton/Shump. Or dump elsewhere.

I think Bullock is a good young prospect
