Trade for Anthony Davis?

Absolutely crazy how this place screams daily about wanting a championship rather than just getting to the playoffs. They literally ran the coach off and made a giant bustle about never making it past the WCF's.
Now the conversation comes up about adding a future hall of fame player in his prime and they say "Oh no. He might get injured and we would rather have draft picks because he only has won one championship". Wow?
It would cost the team Eric Bledsoe and a couple picks that are much more likely to be washed out in two years than be All-Stars.

he's the kinda big-swing risky acquisitions we haven't made since the days of Trader Bob. I don't think there's an appetite for it among our ownership/FO or our fanbase.

Tell me Lillard doesn't want AD here because he might get injured?

i'm of the mindset to go after Lebron for Godsakes. To turn your nose up at AD like is madness to me. I'd give up pretty much everything but Dame/Ant to get AD.

pairing dame with AD for about 4 more years most likely puts our potential ceiling (in that time frame) higher than any other possibility in the draft.

If he is still in his prime, why would the Lakers even consider that offer?

What people are objecting to is paying far more then that for a player who may well be in decline and even at his best can't be counted on. Also, and I know this will piss people off, thanks to that embarassing play-off debacle a few years back AD is living rent free in the heads of many Blazer fans. He is a good player (when healthy), but not the huge star some people act like.

did you watch even a single bubble playoff game? if it were anyone other than lebron as his runningmate, he would have won Finals MVP. He was the best player on that team in almost every playoff game.

That has been covered. They wouldn't. It's why trade threads and conversations about trades are all just for fun.
AD is not coming to Portland. Lets be clear. The Lakers would never trade Anthony Davis for Eric Bledsoe and 2 draft picks in this draft. It ain't gonna happen.

If they did the it would be worse than going after Westbrook which might be the worse thing they have ever done to date.

I mean, it won't happen, but
Dame/Ant/Little/AD/Nurk
with Hart/WInslow/Ingles/Brown/Watford off the bench is a title favorite for next season. And still armed with TPE to increase depth

And like I said, that’s not the point. Also it doesn’t matter how much better Ad is if he isn’t on the court.

if you could do that deal it’s a no brainer there is no player available even close to being at his level that we could trade for Injury or not I’d take my chances on an elite player who makes you a western conference threat. For god sakes we are hoping for Grant who is an ok player but no where near AD. Doesn’t matter they’d get way more than that for AD and that should tell you people are undervaluing him.

Im not undervaluing him as a player, but we’re talking about giving up multiple lottery picks for someone that has never played a full season, and hasn’t played more than 70 games since 2017. Guys don’t get more durable as they age. He’s been in the league ten years now, I don’t see it getting better.

respect your opinion and see your point but still think I’d take that chance all you need is healthy AD, Dame, Simons and Nurk for palyoffs and you have a top 4 western conference team with chance to win it all.

If LA were going to consider trading Davis it would be to immediately put a winning team around LeBron, not some future potential crap like picks. LeBron is fading and he isn’t getting goosebumps to play with Bledsoe and a couple rooks.

the other question is, what would other teams give up? I’m guessing the Blazers would need to trade Simons, and that price is too high in my book. Would you trade Dame for two decent 1st and a scrub? Fuck no. But Dame is 31, coming off injury and doesn’t have a ring. Don’t get me wrong, I think Dame is worth more than AD but I’m guessing their value is not insanely different. Whatever package would grab AD, add one more decent 1st and that’s probably Dames value.

If you traded for AD, you’ve got to give him the “old, aging player” treatment and only play him about 50 games, no back to backs, and still pray he doesn’t get injured.
oh, and hope the rest of your team is good enough to make the playoffs with a part time player

I’d rather not deal with him honestly.
