Trade for Shaq!

The Suns traded Shawn Marion for Shaquille O'Neal and are in win now mode. Nash is getting old and a lot of their role players aren't exactly young either. Steve Kerr pushed for that trade and there's no way he's going to give up on the Shaq experiment after one year or he looks like a total dumbass.

FWIW, the deal was pushed by D'Antoni and Sarver. Kerr was most reluctant even though he pulled the trigger.

They won't admit this, but I think in the back of Kerr's mind he knew the team's window was closing (probably closed now). And by doing the deal, and not paying Marion some large extension like I know they were against, it just adds another expiring contract in 2010, where they'll have 30-35M (or more if Amare if opts out) when Nash/Shaq's/Bell's contract expire. I doubt they'd want to ruin that.
